11224447 · 2022-01-18 · ·

A drill tap dilator comprises a dilator body having a central lumen extending therethrough, an elongate sleeve slidably received with the lumen, and a control knob coupled to the sleeve. The control knob is movable rotatably and axially relative to the dilator body. The sleeve includes docking teeth that are extendable from a retracted position within the body lumen to a deployed position outside the body lumen upon rotation of the control knob relative to the dilator body in one rotational direction. Adjustment of the length of drill tap dilator is allowed upon rotation of the control knob in an opposite rotational direction relative to the dilator body and manual axial movement of the control knob relative to the dilator body.

Sacroiliac fusion system

Methods and apparatuses for performing an orthopedic procedure in the sacroiliac region are disclosed. In one form, an aperture is formed that at least partially extends through at least one of an ilium and a sacrum. An undercutting system is inserted into the aperture. The undercutting system includes an insertion apparatus, a probe assembly and a cutting assembly. The probe assembly is moved with respect to the insertion apparatus from a retracted position to an extended position. The probe assembly is manipulated within a joint between the ilium and the sacrum while the probe assembly is in the extended position. The cutting assembly is moved with respect to the insertion apparatus from a retracted position to an extended position. The cutting assembly is manipulated within the joint between the ilium and the sacrum while the cutting assembly is in the extended position to form a fusion region.

A method for operating vacuum drill guide having an elongated structure having an internal axial passageway and having a drill bushing attached to a first end of the elongated structure, the drill bushing having an axial slot formed in a wall thereof communicating with the internal axial passageway, the drill bushing further having a longitudinal bore formed therethrough to receive a drill bit, a vacuum hose fitting communicating with the axial passageway at a second end of the elongated structure, a chip recovery chamber disposed along the internal axial passageway, and a vacuum filter disposed in the internal axial passageway between the chip recovery chamber and the first end the method comprising providing the vacuum drill guide, inserting a drill bit into the drill bushing, pulling a vacuum from the second end of the elongated structure, positioning the drill bit, and rotating the drill bit to perform a drilling procedure.

DRILL ASSEMBLY FOR PREPARATION OF SURGICAL SITES

This disclosure relates to a drill assembly and method for preparing a surgical site. The drill assembly disclosed herein may be utilized for removing bone prior to positioning a graft and/or implant at a surgical site.

Devices and methods for performing anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using patient-specific drill guide

A guide for drilling a tunnel in a knee joint having intercondylar roof and tibial eminence. The guide can comprise a guide assembly having a positioning member including an inferior end, and a guide arm extending from the positioning member including a trochlear tip; and a drill sleeve having a body attached to the inferior end, an aperture extending along a drilling axis, and a distal end having a patient-specific surface configured to engage an anterior surface of the tibia. A method of producing a tibial tunnel can comprise inserting a trochlear tip of a guide arm between the tibial eminence and the intercondylar roof, adjusting a position of a positioning member connected to the guide arm, engaging a patient-specific tip of a drill sleeve connected to the positioning member with a surface of a tibia, and inserting a drill bit through the drill sleeve to drill a tibial tunnel.

Intramedullary cutting device for revision hip arthroplasty

A cutting device is provided that includes an expandable tube having a base and a hollow interior for receiving the implant therein. The expandable tube includes cutting segments extending from the base and terminating to form a distal end of the expandable tube. At least one of the cutting segments has a cutting end with cutting teeth at the distal end of the expandable tube. Spring shaped sections are provided that extend the cutting segments. A method for removing an implant from a target bone is also provided based on the cutting device. A system for removing material directly surrounding an outer surface of an implant in an intramedullary canal of a target bone is also provided based on the cutting device and a sheath. A retractable opening is formed of leaflets at a distal end of the sheath, and a proximal end opposite the distal end.

Surgical tool release mechanism

The invention provides a reamer handle comprising: a shank having a distal tool coupling end adapted to releasably couple to a part of a surgical tool and a proximal end; a retractable catch which is linearly displaceable along the shank between a non-retracted position in which the catch captures the surgical tool within the distal tool coupling end of the tool holder and a retracted position in which the catch enables the tool to be released from the distal tool coupling end; a biasing member configured to bias the catch in the non-retracted position; and a sleeve extending along the shank. The sleeve comprises: a distally located catch contacting portion and a proximally located handle portion for manually displacing the sleeve relative to the shank such that displacement of the catch contacting portion moves the retractable catch between the non-retracted position and the retracted position to enable capture and release of the tool from the tool holder.

SURGICAL DRILL GUIDES AND SYSTEMS

Surgical drill guides having a guide shaft and a set of distal guide teeth extending from the guide shaft. The guide shaft has proximal and distal portions having two distinct inner and outer diameters, with a tapered zone extending between the two portions. Wall thickness is maintained or increased from the proximal portion to the distal portion of the shaft, reinforcing the rigidity of both the shaft and the distal guide teeth.
