Slidable sheaths for tissue removal devices
A tissue removal device and method of using the device to remove tissue from a patient is provided. The tissue removal device comprises a tissue removal probe and a sheath slideable relative to the probe. The probe has a tissue removal element, and the sheath has a portion that exposes the tissue removal element. The sheath distal end may be pre-shaped to bend when slid distal to the probe. The probe may have a window through which the tissue removal element is exposed.
POWERED SURGICAL TOOL SYSTEM INCLUDING A CUTTING ACCESSORY WITH A ROTATING SHAFT AND A NOSE CAPABLE OF COOLING THE SHAFT
A surgical tool that includes a nose through which a cutting accessory extends. The nose is formed with an enclosed channel through which irrigating fluid is flowed. The enclosed channel has a helical shape such that as the channel extends longitudinally along the nose, the channel curves around the nose and the cutting accessory disposed in the nose.
Cutting apparatus of a cutting system using a robot
The present invention aims to provide a cutting apparatus of a cutting system using a robot for reducing the damage and interference of a bone, a muscle and a surrounding soft tissue on operating and improving durability by minimizing the diameter of the sleeve while improving the rigidity against the bending and not generating the chattering of the shaft.
Combination driver/anti-rotation handle for shoulder arthroplasty
An instrumentation kit for use in preparing a bone to receive a prosthetic component includes at least one first combination device, the at least one first combination device including a proximal portion configured to couple with a torque providing device and a distal portion configured to couple with a first instrument, the at least one first combination device pivotable between a first position whereat the proximal portion and the distal portion are (i) longitudinally aligned and (ii) configured to transfer a torque received by the proximal portion to the distal portion, and a second position whereat the proximal portion and the distal position are (i) not longitudinally aligned and (ii) configured to transfer a torque received by the proximal portion to the distal portion.
Angled instrument assembly
An angled instrument assembly includes an angled sleeve, a driver shaft, and a tool bit. The angled sleeve includes a straight passage segment that meets an angled passage segment at a junction. The junction includes an inner elbow and an outer elbow. Material is removed from the inner surface of the inner elbow in order to improve the ease with which the driver shaft can be moved in and out of the angled sleeve. The assembly can also include drafted female or male engagement bodies for facilitating the engagement and disengagement of the tool bit with a tool bit engagement assembly located at the distal end of the driver shaft.
Interchangeable drill bits for drill assembly
A drill bit comprising a cutting portion having an edge for penetrating bone and a resilient tine configured to be inserted into a drill housing, the resilient tine including a tab having an abutment surface configured to establish a snap-fit connection with a drill gear within the drill housing, and wherein the drill bit is capable of being removed from the drill housing by disengaging the abutment surface from the drill gear.
ARTHROSCOPIC DEVICES AND METHODS
An arthroscopic system includes a re-useable, sterilizable handle integrated with a single umbilical cable or conduit. The single umbilical cable or conduit carries electrical power from a power and/or control console to the handle for operating both a motor drive unit within the handle and delivering the RF power to a disposable RF probe or cutter which may be detachably connected to the handle. The RF power delivered to the handle and on to the probe or cutter is typically bi-polar, where the handle includes first and second electrical bi-polar contacts that couple to corresponding bi-polar electrical contacts on a hub of the disposable RF probe or cutter is connected to the handle.
CUTTING DEVICE FOR REVISION ARTHROPLASTY
A cutting device is provided that includes a pair of cutting blades joined at a pivot point. The cutting blades are driven by an actuator to cause the cutting blades to pivot about the pivot point. The cutting device is configured to remove material underneath a surface of an implant installed on a bone during a revision arthroplasty procedure. The cutting device may travel along a length of the bone just underneath the surface of the implant to remove material and free the implant from the bone. A method for removing material underneath a surface of an implant installed on the bone is also provided. A system for removing material underneath the surface of an implant installed on the bone with the cutting device is also provided.
MINIMALLY INVASIVE TRANSFORAMINAL LUMBAR INTERBODY FUSION
This disclosure presents a MITLIF procedure. The procedure uses a single incision on one side and pedicle screws are placed on that side and through the same incision a facet screw is placed on the opposite side using a series of jigs, and, for example, the hole cutter, drill, guide shaft and screw driver described herein.
SELF-ORIENTING DRILL SLEEVE
A drill sleeve, including: an outer sleeve with an internal collet at a distal end of the outer sleeve and an inner opening; a handle connected to the outer sleeve; an inner sleeve with an inner opening configured to receive and guide a drill bit, wherein the inner sleeve is configured to slide inside the inner opening of the outer sleeve; a trigger connected to the inner sleeve; and a biasing member configured to apply a biasing force between the handle and the trigger wherein the biasing force drives the inner sleeve into the outer sleeve, wherein when a distal end of the inner sleeve engages the internal collet, the internal collet is configured to engage a screw hole in a bone plate, align the drill sleeve with a nominal axis of the screw hole, and secure the drill sleeve to the screw hole.
