JOINT REPLACEMENT PROSTHESIS WITH TRANS-CORTICAL STEMS
Provided is a novel joint replacement prosthesis that includes a base component, and one or more modular stems. The base component includes a bone-facing surface including one or more stem connectors configured for receiving and forming connections with the one or more modular stems inserted from the bone-facing surface side.
SURGICAL GUIDES AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURE AND USE
Medical devices may include a patient-engaging section and an instrument-engaging section positioned on a body of the device and the methods of forming such devices. Medical devices described herein may include resection guides, resection guide locators, and/or instruments for use in surgical methods. Devices described herein may have sections that are complementary to a natural anatomical surface of a target area of bone of a predetermined patient. In some instances, a resection guide and resection guide locator may have portions configured to couple the resection guide to the resection guide locator. Resection guides and/or resection guide locators may include openings for receiving an instrument or tool during an operation on the predetermined patient target area of bone.
CUT GUIDE WITH INTEGRATED JOINT REALIGNMENT FEATURES
A bone cutting and joint realignment instrument may include an integrated spacer body, bone preparation guide, and fulcrum body. The spacer body is configured to be inserted into a joint space between a metatarsal and an opposed cuneiform of a foot. The bone preparation guide body is affixed to the spacer body with the spacer body extending downwardly from the bone preparation guide body. The bone preparation guide body can define at least one guide surface configured to be positioned over at least one of the metatarsal and the opposed cuneiform. The fulcrum body may be rotatably coupled to the spacer body within a bounded range of rotation, such as a bounded range of less than 45 degree. The fulcrum body can be configured to be inserted in an intermetatarsal space between the metatarsal and an adjacent metatarsal.
Anterior ankle approach system and method
A method of ankle replacement includes forming an anterior cut in a bone and forming a stem hole in a distal end of the bone. The stem hole is formed using a plurality of broaches positioned against the distal end of the bone through the anterior cut. A first portion and a second portion of a stem implant are inserted into the stem hole through the anterior cut in the bone. The first portion is coupled to the second portion using a coupling device inserted through the anterior cut in the bone. The stem implant is impacted into the stem hole using an offset impactor.
DISTRACTORS HAVING ATTACHABLE PADDLES, IMPACTION DEVICES, AND METHODS FOR USE IN TOTAL ANKLE REPLACEMENT
A distractor system for use in a joint between two bone surfaces of an anatomical structure includes, for example, distractor and at least one detachable tool comprising a body having a proximal portion and a distal portion, said proximal portion being releasably attachable to at least one of a first end of the distractor and/or a second end of the distractor. The distal portion of the detachable tool being operably positionable in the joint between the two bone surfaces of the anatomical structure. The detachable tools may include a detachable paddle.
CHAMFER GUIDANCE SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A surgical tool includes a handle and a trial section coupled to the handle by an engagement section. The trial section includes an upper surface and a lower surface. The upper surface has a shape that corresponds to an upper surface of an implant. The trial section defines a first slot extending from the upper surface to the lower surface and inwardly from a first side. A second slot extends from the upper surface to the lower surface and inwardly from a second side.
Ankle fusion system with expandable spacer
System, including apparatus and methods, for ankle fusion using a device for separating a first bone and a second bone of an ankle region. In some embodiments, the device may comprise an expandable spacer including first and second bone-contacting surface regions facing away from one another and configured to be abutted with the first and second bones, respectively. A distance between the first and second bone-contacting surface regions may be adjustable to change the separation of the first and second bones. The first bone-contacting surface region may correspond to a portion of a sphere and may be configured to be disposed at least partially in a concavity formed surgically in the first bone. The expandable spacer offers improved control over the length of the lower limb and the orientation of the foot during ankle fusion surgery.
JOINT SPACER SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A method of preparing a tarsometatarsal joint can include imaging a tarsometatarsal joint of a patient between a metatarsal and a cuneiform to determine a size and/or angle of a wedge-shaped bone portion to be cut at the tarsometatarsal joint. The method can include obtaining a bone preparation guide that includes a first guide surface positionable over the metatarsal and a second guide surface positionable over the cuneiform, where an angle of the first guide surface relative to the second guide surface is selected corresponding to the size and/or angle of the wedge-shaped bone portion to be cut as determined via imaging of the tarsometatarsal joint. The method can include positioning the guide surfaces over the metatarsal and cuneiform and guiding a tissue removing instrument with the guide surfaces to cut an end of the metatarsal and to cut an end of the cuneiform.
IMPLANT SIZING INSTRUMENT
A multi-function device useful in a surgical procedure for implanting a cartilage repairing implant in a bone is disclosed. The device includes a plurality of bone defect sizing rings or discs, where each bone defect sizing ring/disc includes a portion that is used to determine the size that correlates to the perimeter shape and size of the cartilage repairing implant. The inventive device also includes a feature that can be used to gauge the proudness of the cartilage repairing implant after the implant has been implanted into a bone.
TOE IMPLANT, RELATED KIT, SURGICAL METHOD, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING
Disclosed herein is a toe implant for replacing a portion of a human toe joint, as well as a related kit, surgical method, and method of manufacturing. Specifically, the toe implant may include a bearing member having a curved interface surface and a fixation member coupled to the bearing member. The fixation member may include a first portion having a non-porous barrier, and a tapered second portion.
