OSCILLATING DECORTICATION BURR ASSEMBLY
An oscillating decorticating burr assembly for decortication of the articular surfaces of joints of the human body is disclosed. The oscillating decorticating burr assembly comprises a burr, a burr-support post, and a handle. Power is imparted to the assembly by way of a user input on the handle causing oscillation of the burr.
Total wrist prosthesis and related methods
Disclosed is a wrist prosthesis, and methods for implanting same, the prosthesis comprising radial component having two sides, the first side comprising a stem and the second side comprising a concave dish; a carpal component having two sides, the first side comprising a stem, and the second side comprising a ball end, the ball end being connected to the carpal component through a neck, the neck being narrower than the diameter of the ball end; and a lunate component having two sides, the first side comprising a cavity adapted to receive said carpal component's ball end, and the second side comprising a convex surface adapted to engage said radial component's concave dish.
Multi-barrel drill guide and anchor deployment assembly
A method for suspension of the CMC joint that minimizes patient irritation/discomfort and damage to the surrounding tissue. Specifically, the method is a method for suspending a first metacarpal in relative position to a second metacarpal. The method includes the steps of: (i) drilling a hole through the first metacarpal; (ii) inserting a drill guide through the hole in the first metacarpal; (iii) advancing the drill guide to a surface of the second metacarpal, and drilling a hole in the second metacarpal; (iv) inserting an anchor into the hole formed in the second metacarpal, wherein the anchor is attached to suture; (v) deploying the anchor within the second metacarpal; (vi) tensioning the suture attached to the anchor; and (vii) fixing the position of the first metacarpal relative to the second metacarpal using the suture.
IMPLANT FOR FUSING AT LEAST TWO BONE COMPONENTS AND METHOD OF FUSING BONE COMPONENTS USING THE IMPLANT
An implant for fusing at least two bone components and method of using the implant. The implant has a body with first and second anchoring portions. The first anchoring portion has a stem configured to be directed to within a first bone component and is further configured to cooperate with at least a first fastener usable to fix the stem in an operative position relative to the first bone component. The second anchoring portion is configured to overlie at least a second bone component at a placement location at which bone has been strategically removed and is further configured to cooperate with at least a second fastener usable to fix a part of the second anchoring portion to the second bone component with the second anchoring portion in an operative position.
Carpometacarpal (CMC) implants and methods
A surgical kit including a hydrogel implant suitable for use in a carpometacarpal joint includes an upper surface, a lower surface, and sidewalls extending between the upper surface and the lower surface, a plunger, and an introducer for depoloying the implant is provided.
Acetabular/patellar/glenoid/calcar reamer cutting tooth arrangment with depth-of-cut control feature
An orthopaedic reamer includes a shell and a cutting tooth arrangement formed in the shell. The cutting tooth arrangement includes a cutting tooth having a predefined profile with a cutting edge having a cutting depth, and a depth-of-cut feature positioned forward of the cutting tooth, relative to a direction of movement of the shell at the location of the cutting tooth. The depth-of-cut feature has a control depth which controls a cutting depth of the cutting tooth during surgery.
INSTRUMENTS AND METHODS FOR COMPLETE PLANTAR PLATE REPAIRS
Surgical repair systems and techniques for plantar plate repairs. The surgical repair systems and methods reconstruct the plantar plate through a dorsal incision. The surgical repair system embodies a variety of instruments that provide visualization and access to the plantar plate using suture to complete the repair. The repair system may include some or all of the following instruments: a metatarsal head pusher employed in open surgical space, to move the “capital fragment” in a controlled manner; a suture retriever instrument and a suture retriever funnel (sleeve); a suture passer such as a Mini Scorpion DX and accompanying needle, or a variety of shaped Micro Suture Lassos; a measuring guide; and a small joint distractor.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR IMPLANTING SURGICAL IMPLANTS
The present invention relates to an implant system that comprises an implant, a handle configured to removably receive the implant, and, in some embodiments, a spacer tool configured to be mounted on the implant. In further embodiments, a k-wire is employed to guide the implant to a desired location. The handle has a hole for receiving a first portion of the implant. Using the handle to implant the implant, along with an associated spacer, provides a quick and convenient method for implanting the implant as described herein and in the associated drawings.
SURGICAL STAPLE IMPLANT SYSTEM
A sterile staple implant system is provided for use during a surgery. The staple implant system comprises a group of complementary surgery-specific instruments that are packaged in a sterile state. An instrument tray is configured to preserve the instruments in the sterile state until the staple implant system is opened during the surgery. The instrument tray is configured to provide the surgeon with easy access to the instruments during the surgery. The staple implant system comprises at least a staple inserter and a surgical staple suitable for being implanted in parallel holes drilled across a bone fusion or fixation site of a patient. The surgical staple preferably is loaded in a relaxed configuration into the staple inserter. A staple retention clip retains the surgical staple in the staple inserter until the staple is distracted during the surgery.
