DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DIAGNOSING AND TREATING SINUSITIS AND OTHER DISORDERS OF THE EARS, NOSE AND/OR THROAT
Sinusitis, enlarged nasal turbinates, tumors, infections, hearing disorders, allergic conditions, facial fractures and other disorders of the ear, nose and throat are diagnosed and/or treated using minimally invasive approaches and, in many cases, flexible catheters as opposed to instruments having rigid shafts. Various diagnostic procedures and devices are used to perform imaging studies, mucus flow studies, air/gas flow studies, anatomic dimension studies, endoscopic studies and transillumination studies. Access and occluder devices may be used to establish fluid tight seals in the anterior or posterior nasal cavities/nasopharynx and to facilitate insertion of working devices (e.g., scopes, guidewires, catheters, tissue cutting or remodeling devices, electrosurgical devices, energy emitting devices, devices for injecting diagnostic or therapeutic agents, devices for implanting devices such as stents, substance eluting devices, substance delivery implants, etc.
Apparatus and methods for tissue reduction
Apparatus and methods for tissue reduction are described where one embodiment of the tissue resection device may generally comprise an external clamping mechanism having at least two distally extending members shaped with an atraumatic distal end and defining a confined region between the distally extending members sized to receive a tissue region therebetween. Additionally, an elongate coring needle defining a lumen and having a proximal end attached to a handle and a distal end which defines a cutting mechanism may also be included, wherein the coring needle is translatable adjacent and/or relative to the external or internal clamping mechanism defined by the confined region.
Disposable burr attachment
A burr attachment designed for use with a curved burr attachment or other chuck attachments that includes a tube with a wire shaft supported therein and a coil spring surrounding said wire shaft and having each of the coils touch the outer periphery surface of the wire shaft and the inner peripheral surface of said tube to enhance cooling of said outer periphery of said tube from the heat generated by said wire shaft and attenuate vibrations while allowing said burr attachment to be bent without kinking.

THREE-DIMENSIONAL PRINTED BONE SUPPORTED SINUS GUIDE FOR EDENTULOUS MAXILLARY ARCH
An accurate and precise surgical guide for dental procedures, especially a procedure involving a subject with few or no teeth as well as methods for making and use of such guides.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MEASURING DEPTH OF BIT IN ENT DRILL
A surgical system and method for determining insertion depth of a cutting member includes a body assembly, a securement mechanism, a base position sensor, and a cutting member sensor. The body assembly defines a longitudinal axis and is configured to receive the cutting member. The securement mechanism is operatively connected to the body assembly and configured to releasably secure the cutting member relative to the body assembly. The base position sensor is configured to be detected as a base position by a navigation system. The cutting member sensor is positioned a predetermined longitudinal sensor distance from the base position sensor and configured to detect an adjustable longitudinal position of the cutting member. The sensors are configured to communicate with the navigation system for determining a position of the distal reference feature within an anatomical passageway of a patient in any selected adjustable longitudinal position of the cutting member.
Methods of Reciprocation in a Surgical Shaver
Disclosed herein is a medical device. The medical device includes a blade tube section, a motor, and a lever arm. The blade tube section includes an outer blade tube, an inner blade tube, and a cutting window at a distal end of the blade tube section. The motor is spaced from the blade tube section. The lever arm is between the inner blade tube and the motor.
Methods of Reciprocation in a Surgical Shaver
Disclosed herein is a medical device. The medical device includes a blade tube section, a motor, and a mechanical arrangement. The blade tube section includes an outer blade tube, inner blade tube, and a cutting window at a distal end of the blade tube section. The motor is offset from a central axis of the blade tube section. The mechanical arrangement is between the inner blade tube and the motor.
Surgical device employing a cantilevered beam dissector
A surgical instrument for treating body tissues through narrow body passages employs an elongated cantilevered beam having a proximal end supported in a rigid block and a narrower distal end extendable through the narrow passages. One or more piezoelectric actuators are fixed to the beam surface and energized from an AC source provided by an electrical excitation system through electrodes interspersed with the piezoelectric actuators to produce oscillatory motion of the beam distal end in multiple modes of movement.
TOOLS AND METHODS FOR DACRYOCYSTORHINOSTOMY
A dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) tool (10) includes a perforating shaft (30) having a distal perforating tip (32) configured to form a bypass between a lacrimal sac and a nasal cavity through a lateral side of the lacrimal sac, a lacrimal bone, and nasal mucosa. A DCR guide (20) includes a nasal guide component (40) configured to be inserted into the nasal cavity and having a distal guide tip (42); and a lacrimal guide component (50) shaped so as to define a guide channel (52) that orients the DCR guide (20) with respect to the distal perforating tip (32) during advancing of the distal perforating tip (32) through a lacrimal passageway and into the lacrimal sac, until contact of the distal perforating tip (32) with the distal guide tip (42) blocks further advancing of the distal perforating tip (32). The DCR guide (20) constrains the distal guide tip (42) to fall in a path of advancement of the distal perforating tip (32). Other embodiments are also described.
