Devices, systems, and methods for reducing and fixing fractured bones
A method of reducing a fractured bone of a patient is disclosed. The method may include generating a fractured bone surface image from image data of the fractured bone structure of the patient. A reduced bone surface image of the fractured bone structure of the patient may be formed. In some embodiments, an implant image may be superimposed in an installation position on the reduced bone surface image. A patient specific jig image may be superimposed proximate the implant image and the bone image, according to the installation position of the implant. In some embodiments, control data from the patient specific jig image may be generated.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS
Surgical knives are disclosed, for initiating percutaneous access to a surgical site. The knife has a body with a rear handle and a front cutter portion. It may have a central cannulation to receive a guide wire, along a front-to-rear operating axis. The cutter portion has first and second blades opposed across the axis, each having an outward cutting edge directed laterally outwardly relative to the operating axis and a flat outward face also directed laterally outwardly relative to the operating axis and transversely to the respective outward cutting edge. The first and second outward faces of the two blades converge forwardly to their tip points, which lie close to the axis, and their cutting edges are oppositely directed. Alternatively a single blade may be used, forwardly convergent with the axis.
DRILL ALIGNMENT GUIDE
A surgical drill alignment guide is disclosed that can provide an accurate trajectory for placement of a bone screw along a longitudinal axis of a bone.
INTERNAL OSSEOINTEGRATED IMPLANT FOR TRANSFEMORAL AMPUTEE
The present invention is an internal osseointegrated transfemoral amputee implant device and related methods. The device is designed to restore the enclosed nature of the bone marrow system which is disrupted by amputation, plus provide a pressure tolerant (weight-bearing) surface and mechanical anchoring for the iliotibial band.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ALIGNING SURGICAL DEVICES
A system for targeting a feature on a surgical device, includes a shape sensing element coupled to an interrogator and operable to provide information to related to said portion's position in a reference frame in communication with the targeted feature. The interrogator is operable to poll the shape sensing element for information related to said portion's position in the reference frame. A surgical tool is coupled to the targeting system in communication with the shape sensing element. The data processor is operable to communicate with the interrogator to output position information of the portion of the shape sensing element with respect to a calibrated position, defined as the position of the portion of the shape sensing element in the reference frame when the guide axis is aligned to the targeted feature. A display provides the user visual information comparing the position of the tool to the targeted feature.
ORTHOPEDIC SURGICAL GUIDE
A system for establishing an intramedullary path includes a body sized and configured to be received within a resected bone space. The body defines a first aperture that extends through the body and is sized and configured to receive a surgical tool therethrough. A first bone engaging structure extends from the body in a first direction and includes a first surface that is complementary to a surface topography of a first bone. When the first surface of the bone engaging structure engages the surface topography of the first bone to which the first surface is complementary, an axis defined by the first aperture is substantially collinear with a mechanical axis of the first bone.
Systems and methods for intramedullary nail implantation
Intramedullary nails, aiming guide assemblies, and methods. The aiming guide assembly can include an aiming guide having a collet and a connection bolt configured to engage a connection bolt driver. The connection bolt may be self-retaining and engage with the connection bolt driver in a manner to prevent unintentional disengagement.
Cannulated nail extractor
A cannulated nail extractor including an extractor having a proximal end for connecting to an extraction device, a distal end opposite the proximal end, and a connector extending from the distal end. The cannulated nail extractor further includes an engagement wire having an enlarged proximal end configured to engage the extractor and an enlarged distal end configured to engage a distal end of the cannulated nail. The cannulated nail extractor further includes a positioning wire for insertion into the cannulated nail for urging the enlarged distal end of the engagement wire into engagement with the distal end of the cannulated nail, whereby exerting an extraction force on the extractor produces extraction force by engagement of the enlarged distal end of the engagement wire on the distally facing end of the cannulated nail.
INTEROPERATIVE AIMING ARM
In one embodiment, a targeting guide is formed by aligning an axis of a cutting instrument with a bone-anchor fixation hole of an intramedullary nail. The cutting instrument is inserted through the bone-anchor fixation hole such that the cutting instrument is in contact with a guide body of a targeting guide, where the targeting guide is supported relative to the intramedullary nail such that the guide body is spaced outwardly from at least a portion of the intramedullary nail along a radial direction. The cutting instrument is then driven through the guide body so as to form an alignment aperture in the targeting guide. The alignment aperture has a central axis that is aligned with the bone-anchor fixation hole.
Instrument for intra-operative implant templating using fluoroscopy
A surgical instrument having a first assembly with a first radio-opaque portion providing a profile of a first portion of an intramedullary implant or canal in a bone, and a second assembly having a second radio-opaque portion providing a profile of a second portion of the intramedullary implant or canal. The surgical instrument may also include a third radio-opaque portion providing an alignment feature to provide a fluoroscopic planar check for the surgical instrument.
