DEVICES, METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR REMEDYING OR PREVENTING FRACTURES
Devices, methods and systems for remedying or preventing fractures of the bone are disclosed. The devices, and corresponding methods and systems, may include first and second members each having a proximal end, a distal end and a middle portion and an outer surface. The first member may be configured to be positioned at least partially within the femoral neck of the femur. The second member may be configured to be oriented at an oblique angle relative to the first member and mechanically engaged with the first member through an interlocking connection between the distal end of the second member and the middle portion or the distal end of the first member.
Percutaneous methods, systems, and devices for positioning a guide wire in a bone
Minimally invasive percutaneous methods, devices, and systems for placing guide wires in bones in a desired position and orientation and for facilitating the treatment of fractures such as but not limited to intertrochanteric fractures or other applications such as osteotomies. The methods, devices, and systems may allow for rapid and reproducible placement of a guide wire in a bone. Each degree of freedom may be controlled independently.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR JOINT REPLACEMENT
A prosthesis including a hemiarthroplasty cup including an inner surface shaped and sized to accommodate a reamed or unreamed femoral head outer surface, and an outer surface shaped and sized to accommodate a reamed or unreamed acetabulum outer surface of an acetabulum socket, wherein the hemiarthroplasty cup is configured to maintain allowance of articulation of the femoral head outer surface and the acetabulum socket relative to the hemiarthroplasty cup after implantation.
LIGHT EMITTING BONE IMPLANTS
A bone implant includes a rod having an aperture extending entirely through the rod. The aperture is to receive a fastener to couple the rod to a bone of a patient. The bone implant also includes a light source disposed on the rod. The light source is to emit light onto a portion of the bone adjacent the rod to at least one of stimulate bone growth or reduce bone loss.
ANTEGRADE RETROGRADE RECON FEMORAL INTRAMEDULLARY NAIL SYSTEM
A femoral intramedullary device is capable of treating a variety of femoral bone fractures. The device includes an intramedullary nail capable of antegrade or retrograde insertion into the femur and having a shank long enough to extend into the shaft of the long bone and reach the corresponding distal area or proximal area and sockets located intermediate the ends of the shank for receiving anchoring pins or screws extended transversely or radially from the shaft of the long bone. The intramedullary nail is placed in the intramedullary canal of a portion of the bone and the screws are fixed in the radial sockets or receivers at the level of the femoral neck to provide mechanical support across the bone. Transverse screws are placed through the transverse sockets to provide additional support and secure the nail within the femur.
Surgical drill guide
Drill guides are disclosed herein that allow an implant to be partially inserted after the holes are drilled and before the drill guide has been removed from the surgical location.
Computer assisted surgery system
A computer assisted surgery system and a method for operating a computer assisted surgery system is described therein. The system and method includes providing a virtual representation of a medical device to provide an easier application of a medical device, such as an implant or the like. The described system and method allows for simple and fast positioning of a medical device to be applied, such as an implant, for example.
Method and device for joint replacement
A method of joint replacement including forming one or more arthroscopy portals adjacent a hip joint that includes, a femur with a femoral head and a pelvis with an acetabulum socket, inserting a hemiarthroplasty cup, having a cup inner surface and a cup outer surface, between a femoral head outer surface of the femoral head and an acetabulum outer surface of the acetabulum socket, wherein at least one of the femoral head outer surface and the acetabulum outer surface are unreamed.
APPARATUS FOR CLOSED REDUCTION OF BONE FRACTURE
The present disclosure relates to an apparatus for closed reduction of a bone fracture. The apparatus includes at least: a pulling adaptor including: a handle configured to be gripped by an operator; an insertion rod that is extended from the handle in a longitudinal direction of the handle, and configured to be inserted into the bone fracture which is depressed in at least one area thereof; and a pulling lug that is bent and extended from an end of the insertion rod such that a longitudinal direction of the pulling lug is perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the insertion rod or such that the pulling lug is inclined with respect to the insertion rod, the pulling lug being configured to be inserted into the at least one depressed area of the bone fracture, in order to pull the bone fracture.
INTRAMEDULLARY NAIL WITH WIRE OR MAGNET FOR TARGETING OF A BONE-ANCHOR LOCKING HOLE
In one embodiment, an intramedullary nail has a body that includes proximal and distal ends and an inner surface that defines at least one locking hole that extends into an outer surface of the body so as to receive a bone anchor to lock the nail in a medullary canal of a bone. The body has a first biocompatible material that defines at least a portion of the outer surface. The nail has a second material that is different from, and at least partially encapsulated in, the first material. The second material can produce at least one of an electrical current and a magnetic field, and is supported by the nail body such that a position of the at least one bone-anchor locking hole can be detected based on the at least one of the electrical current and the magnetic field.
