A method for determining the topography of a machine tool that includes a machine bed, a tool carrier and a component carrier. The machine bed defines a Cartesian coordinate system of the machine tool starting from a machine zero point. The tool carrier can be moved along linear guides aligned in parallel to axes of the coordinate system and has at least one tool holder for holding a cutting tool. The component carrier is at a distance from the tool carrier in the direction of a first axis and can be at least almost completely pivoted around an axis of rotation aligned in parallel to a second axis, if necessary, and includes a component receptacle aligned in parallel to the first axis, through which a component to be machined can be held.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PREPARING MACHINING AND/OR CUTTING OF A BAR MATERIAL
A method of preparing machining and/or cutting of a bar material, comprising the steps of obtaining a set of geometries to be machined and/or cut from a bar material; calculating at least one length of a bar material based on the geometries; presenting the at least one calculated length of a bar material; and deciding on a length of a bar material at least based on the at least one presented length of a bar material. Further described is a system for preparing machining and/or cutting of a bar material, wherein the system comprises a receiver for obtaining a set of geometries to be machined and/or cut from a bar material; a calculator for calculating a length of a bar material based on the geometries; a presentation unit for presenting the calculated length of a bar material; and a decision unit for deciding on a length of a bar material based on the presented length of a bar material.

An analysis device comprises: a collection unit that collects an aggregate of machine data output during operation of a machine tool and an aggregate of measured data containing measurement points where the size of a machined part machined by the machine tool has been measured by a measuring instrument; and a feature extraction unit that selects machine data corresponding to an arbitrary measurement point, in the aggregate of the measured data from the aggregate of the machine data, and extracts the selected machine data as a feature at the arbitrary measurement point.

A machining method is provided for manufacturing a feature in a part. Feature data are received that describe a feature to be manufactured and include a type and a set of attributes of the feature. Machining method data are received that describe a machining method for manufacturing an associated feature. Machining methods associated with features of a given type are analyzed in order to define a set of ranges of feature attributes where the machining methods are applicable. A set of ranking values are assigned to each machining method for ordering machining methods. Data of an additional feature to be manufactured is received, the type of the additional feature being the given type and the set of attributes is a specific set. A set of machining methods is selected and at least one machining method is provided based on its assigned ranking value to be associated with the additional feature.
