A micro forceps 12 according to the present invention comprises: a housing 22 having an opening part 27 on a side 23 thereof; a rotating body 32 that is retained in the housing 22, rotatable around a long axis of the housing 22, and partially exposed from the opening part 27; a clip part 52 for clipping an object; a wire rod part provided with the clip part 52 on one side, and connected to the rotating body 32 on the other side; an opening/closing operation part 62 that is retained in the housing 22, movable along the long axis direction of the housing 22, and partially exposed from the opening part 27; and a tubular part 72 connected to the opening/closing operation part 62; wherein the clip part 52 is in a closed state where the clip part 52 is placed in the tubular part 72 when the opening/closing operation part 62 is moved to a clip part 52 side; and the clip part 52 is in an opened state where the clip part 52 comes out of the tubular part 72 when the opening/closing operation part 62 is moved to opposite to the clip part 52 side.
ULTRASONIC SURGICAL INSTRUMENT WITH SLIDING BLADE SHEATH
A surgical instrument includes a gripping assembly, a shaft assembly, an end effector, and a pivoting member. The gripping assembly defines a first opening for receiving a finger or a thumb of a user. The gripping assembly includes a first deformable feature that is configured to be moved in order to increase or decrease a cross-sectional area of the first opening. The shaft assembly extends distally from the gripping assembly. The end effector is positioned at a distal end of the shaft assembly and includes a first member. The pivoting member is pivotably coupled with the shaft assembly. The pivoting member is pivotable with respect to the first member of the end effector between an open position and a closed position to thereby clamp tissue between the first member and the pivoting member.
MEDICAL PROCEDURE FOR INSERTING A CHEST DRAINAGE TUBE
A single stage instrument is used to insert a chest drainage tube into the inter-pleural space to facilitate drainage. The instrument is scissor-like with cylinder-like channels to slidably enclose the distal section of the tube therein when closed. The tip of the instrument is curved to enter the skin incision and the offset pleural incision whereafter the instrument is rotated 180 degrees to align the curved tip with the pleural space. The curved tip facilitates sliding the chest drainage tube through the instrument to effect sufficient insertion length. Once the instrument is in place, the tube is slid along the instrument to ensure that all drainage holes in the chest drainage tube are within the pleural cavity. Thereafter, the instrument is withdrawn leaving the chest drainage tube in place. After withdrawal of the instrument, it is opened laterally for lateral disengagement with the chest drainage tube.
Adapter load button lockout
A surgical device is provided. The surgical device includes: a jaw assembly comprising a first jaw and a second jaw moveable relative to the first jaw and an elongated body removably coupled to a proximal end of the jaw assembly. The elongated body includes an actuation bar movable upon engagement of the jaw assembly with the elongated body to secure the jaw assembly thereto; a release button coupled to the actuation bar such that the release button is movable by the actuation bar upon engagement of the jaw assembly with the elongated body and the release button is configured to move the actuation bar to allow for removal of the jaw assembly from the elongated body; and a lockout button in mechanical cooperation with the release button, the lockout button configured to prevent actuation of the release button.
Suturing instrument with multi-mode cartridges
A surgical kit includes an instrument and two or more cartridges. The instrument includes a body, a shaft assembly, and a cartridge receiving assembly. The cartridge receiving assembly has a movable output feature, which is configured to move in response to activation of the actuation input feature. The cartridges may include a first suturing cartridge and a second suturing cartridge, with first and second suture needles, respectively. The second suture needle may extend along an arc that has a larger radius of curvature than an arc associated with the first suture needle. The cartridges may also include a drive assembly that is operable to drive the needle along an orbital path in response to movement of the actuation input feature. The cartridges may also include features that are operable to apply clips or staples. The cartridges may also include features that are operable to grasp or cut.
MECHANICAL END EFFECTOR
A mechanical end effector comprising at least two movable parts, wherein each of the movable parts is mounted on at least two supports, wherein a relative position of the movable parts with respect to each other is variable by changing the relative position of the supports with respect to each other, and wherein the supports of the movable parts comprise bendable members, wherein the bendable members are equipped with mechanical properties that arrange for flexing of the bendable members when a force applied by the supports of the movable parts exceeds a predefined value and the bendable members are embodied as cooperating bands to arrange that flexing of the cooperating bands provides a visual feedback to a user.
SURGICAL CLAMP FOR LAPIDUS BUNION SURGERY
Apparatuses, systems, and methods are disclosed for a surgical clamp for Lapidus bunion surgery. A surgical clamp has handles disposed at opposing branches of a surgical clamp. A hinge is disposed at an intersection of the opposing branches about which the opposing branches pivot. A first gripper is disposed at a distal portion of the first opposing branch and is shaped to hook around and grip a neck of a first metatarsal. A second gripper is disposed at a distal portion of the second opposing branch and is shaped to hook around and grip a neck of a different metatarsal. The grippers extend at a non-zero angle away from the opposing branches. A lock extends between the opposing branches and selectively fixes a relative position of the opposing branches so that the grippers selectively hold a position of the first metatarsal relative to the different metatarsal.
MEDICAL INSTRUMENT AND METHOD AND MODULAR SYSTEM FOR MANUFACTURING OF SUCH INSTRUMENTS
An instrument capable of being repeatedly sterilized. The instrument has handle pieces that are configured as a housing. The housing includes housing shells that are joined to one another at butt joints without a gap. The interior of the butt joints may be completely filled with a casting compound.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS INCLUDING ADAPTER ASSEMBLY
A surgical kit includes a handle assembly, an adapter assembly, and at least one end effector. The adapter assembly allows for use of a handle assembly that is configured to affect a function of a relatively long end effector to also be used with a relatively short end effector.
Tissue engagement device
Medical devices and methods of using medical devices are disclosed. An example tissue engagement device includes a first actuation member including a body coupled to a first jaw and a second jaw at a pivot point, wherein the body is designed to shift between a first configuration and a first compressed configuration and a second actuation member coupled to the first actuation member at the pivot point and at a fixation point, wherein the second actuation member is designed to shift between a second configuration and a second compressed configuration. Further, shifting the first actuation member from the first configuration to the first compressed configuration, shifting the second actuation member from the second configuration to the second compressed configuration, or both, shifts the first jaw and the second jaw between a closed configuration and an open configuration.
