SEAL CONFIGURATIONS FOR SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS SUCH AS FOR USE IN ROBOTIC SURGICAL SYSTEMS
A robotic surgical instrument includes a housing and a shaft extending distally from the housing and including proximal and distal segments and an articulating portion interconnecting the segments. An end effector assembly is coupled to the distal segment and a plurality of actuation components extends through at least a portion of the shaft to enable selective actuation of the end effector assembly. A seal configuration is operably associated with a proximal body portion of a proximal link of the articulating portion of the shaft to establish seals against an interior annular surface of the shaft, about each actuation component of the plurality of actuation components, and within a distal end portion of the proximal segment of the shaft to inhibit fluid communication proximally into the proximal segment of the shaft.
FORCEPS WITH INTENTIONALLY MISALIGNED PIN
A forceps having at least a first jaw with a longitudinal axis is disclosed. The first jaw can include a body portion, a first flange, a second flange and a cam pin. The first flange can define a first cam slot with a longitudinal extent along the longitudinal axis. The second flange can be spaced from the first flange a distance transverse to the longitudinal axis of the first jaw and can have a second cam slot. The cam pin, with a longitudinal axis, can be moveably secured within the first cam slot and the second cam slot. A diameter of the cam pin can be less than a width between a first longitudinal edge that defines a first side of each of the first cam slot and the second cam slot and a second longitudinal edge that defines a second opposing side of each of the first cam slot and the second cam slot so that the cam pin is moveably received by both the first cam slot and the second cam slot. With the first jaw pivoted to at least a first position, the cam pin and first flange can be configured such that the first longitudinal edge is contacted by the cam pin but the second longitudinal edge is spaced from the cam pin. The cam pin and second flange can be configured such that the first longitudinal edge is spaced from the cam pin but the second longitudinal edge is contacted by the cam pin.
Surgical end effectors with pivotal jaws configured to touch at their respective distal ends when fully closed
An end effector for use with a surgical instrument. The end effector includes first and second jaws that are pivotally coupled together and configured to touch at their respective distal ends when fully closed.
ULTRASONIC TRANSDUCER CASING, ULTRASONIC TRANSDUCER ASSEMBLY, AND ULTRASONIC SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
A casing of an ultrasonic transducer assembly incudes a first portion, a second portion, and at least one seal member. The first portion includes a ridge disposed on a first mating surface of the first portion. The second portion includes a trough defined within a second mating surface of the second portion and configured to receive the ridge of the first portion. The at least one seal member extends from the first mating surface of the first portion inwardly of the ridge and/or the second mating surface of the second portion inwardly of the trough. The first mating surface of the first portion and the second mating surface of the second portion are configured to be fused to one another. The fusion and the at least one seal member establish a hermetic seal between the first and second mating surfaces.
SEAL FOR SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
An apparatus includes a body, a shaft assembly, an end effector, a coupling member, and a seal feature. The shaft assembly extends distally from the body and includes a distal end. The coupling member is disposed at the distal end of the shaft assembly to movably couple the end effector to the shaft assembly. The seal feature is engaged with the coupling member and includes a seal body and a plurality of protrusions. The plurality or protrusions extend from the seal body. Each protrusion of the plurality of protrusions is configured to slidably receive a respective elongate member associated with the end effector therethrough.
Surgical stapling device
A surgical stapling device includes an elongate member and a loading unit. The loading unit includes a tool portion and a body portion including a first portion having a first length, a second portion having a second length, and a third portion having a third length. The first portion is configured to be releasably secured with the elongate member. The second portion is distal of the first portion and dimensioned to be received in the elongate member. The third portion is distal of the second portion. At least the second or third portion is configured to engage the elongate member in a sealing relation. The second length is greater than the first and third lengths. The third portion of the body portion is dimensioned to be flush with the elongate member when the first and second portions are received in the elongate member.
Forceps guide tube
A surgical tool can include a handle, an outer tube, an end effector, an inner tube, and a guide tube. The outer tube can be connected to the handle and can extend along a longitudinal axis. The end effector can be connected to the outer tube. The inner shaft can be located within the outer tube and can extend along the longitudinal axis. The inner shaft can be connected to the end effector and the outer shaft. The handle can be operable to translate the inner shaft with respect to the outer tube to operate the end effector. The guide tube can be located within the outer tube between the handle and the end effector. The guide tube can include a conduit extending therethrough.
System And Method For Navigating An Instrument
Disclosed is an instrument assembly usable in a procedure. The instrument includes a connection for a working portion and to a tool handle. A tracking device or assembly may be associated with the instrument for determining a position of the instrument.
Surgical stapler with removable power pack and interchangeable battery pack
A surgical fastener applier including a housing containing a compartment, an elongated member extending distally from the housing, first and second jaws and a firing mechanism. The firing mechanism is movable between a first position and a second position to effect firing of fasteners into the tissue clamped between the first and second jaws. A power pack is removably loadable into the compartment, the power pack having a motor and an engagement member removably engageable with the firing mechanism within the compartment when the power pack is loaded into the compartment to effect movement of the firing mechanism. An interchangeable battery pack is removably loadable into the power pack for powering the motor. Bearings restrict axial and radial movement of the firing and articulation assembly in the power pack.
Surgical stapler with removable power pack
A surgical fastener applier including a housing containing a compartment, an elongated member extending distally from the housing, first and second jaws and a firing mechanism positioned within the housing. The firing mechanism is movable between a first position and a second position to effect firing of fasteners into the tissue clamped between the first and second jaws. A cover on the housing is openable to access the compartment. A power pack is removably loadable into the compartment, the power pack having a motor and an engagement member removably engageable with the firing mechanism within the compartment when the power pack is loaded into the compartment to effect movement of the firing mechanism from the first position to the second firing position.
