Method of performing a balloon kyphoplasty procedure using a scoop cannula
A method of treating a bone of a patient includes identifying a portion of the patient to be protected. A cannula is provided that includes a shaft extending between opposite first and second end surfaces. The shaft includes an inner surface defining a lumen. The cannula includes a scoop extending from the second end surface. The scoop includes an inner surface that is continuous with the inner surface of the shaft and an opposite outer surface. The cannula is inserted into the bone such that the outer surface of the scoop is positioned adjacent to the portion of the patient to be protected. A balloon is inserted into the cannula such that the balloon is positioned within the scoop. The balloon is inflated such that the balloon expands away from the scoop as the balloon is inflated and creates a void in the bone. Systems are disclosed.
CELLULITE TREATMENT SYSTEM AND METHODS
Systems and methods for treating cellulite including an apparatus that applies or a method involving disrupting, stretching, re-orienting or tearing septa to eliminate or reduce the appearance of cellulite. In one approach, an expandable member is placed between tissue layers to stretch or tear septa connecting tissue layers between which fat deposits are contained.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ENDOLUMINAL VALVE CREATION
Medical systems, devices and methods for creation of autologous tissue valves within a mammalian body are disclosed. One example of a device for creating a valve flap from a vessel wall includes an elongate tubular structure having a proximal portion and a distal portion and a longitudinal axis; a first lumen having a first exit port located on the distal portion of the elongate tubular structure; a second lumen having a second exit port located on the distal portion of the elongate tubular structure; a recessed distal surface on the distal portion of the elongate tubular structure, wherein the recessed distal surface is located distally to the first exit port; and an open trough on the recessed distal surface extending longitudinally from the first exit port.
Miniature shredding tools for use in medical applications, methods for making, and procedures for using
The present disclosure relates generally to the field of tissue removal and more particularly to methods and devices for use in medical applications involving selective tissue removal. One exemplary method includes the steps of providing a tissue cutting instrument capable of distinguishing between target tissue to be removed and non-target tissue, urging the instrument against the target tissue and the non-target tissue, and allowing the instrument to cut the target tissue while automatically avoiding cutting of non-target tissue. Various tools for carrying out this method are also described.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR PERFORMING SUBMUCOSAL MEDICAL PROCEDURES
Instruments, systems and methods are provided for performing submucosal medical procedures in a desired area of the digestive tract using endoscopy. Instruments include a safe access needle injection instrument, a submucosal tunneling instrument, a submucosal dissection instrument, a mucosal resection device. Systems include a combination of one or more of such instruments with or without injectable agents. Embodiments of various methods for performing the procedures are also provided.
Systems and methods for off-axis augmentation of a vertebral body
Systems and methods for augmenting a vertebral body. An introducer device includes a shaft having a flexible distal portion with a pre-set curve in an unconstrained state. An input provided to an actuator to tension a pulling element to move the pre-set curve to a constrained state in which the distal portion and a flexible sheath conforming to the shaft at least partially straighten. The introducer device is removable from the sheath remaining offset from a longitudinal axis. A spacer hub facilitates proximal movement of the sheath relative to an access cannula expose a balloon through a syringe-style input. A hub of the access cannula may be adjustable to selectively adjust an interference surface relative to a datum. At least two radiopaque markers may be disposed on the sheath with relative positions between the markers viewable on lateral and A-P radiography to determine the location and/or curvature of the sheath.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ENDOLUMINAL VALVE CREATION
A device for manipulating tissue at a vessel includes an elongated member having a proximal end and a distal end, a guide member at the distal end of the elongated member, the guide member having a blunt distal tip for engagement against an interior wall of the vessel, and a tissue cutting device at the distal end of the elongated member, wherein the tissue cutting device has a sharp tip that is proximal to the blunt distal tip of the guide member.
SUBMUCOSAL DRUG DELIVERY APPARATUSES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
The present disclosure relates to apparatuses and methods of depot delivery of therapeutic agents. The apparatuses provide a drug delivery device including a catheter component having a stem portion and a branch portion. The catheter component includes a pre-defined bend such that the branch portion is angled with respect to the stem portion at an obtuse angle. The branch portion includes a dissecting head and at least one delivery port. The device includes a dilation balloon positioned on the branch portion between the pre-defined bend and the dissecting head, a drug delivery reservoir fluidly coupled to the at least one drug delivery port and a handle portion.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR THE REFIXATION OF PROSTHETIC IMPLANTS TO BONE TISSUE
This invention comprises a novel approach for the refixation of a loosened implant to bone, wherein the novel approach comprises providing access to a boundary region between the implant and the bone; removing abnormal interface tissue, wear debris and/or bone cement debris from the boundary region; and inserting bone fixation material into the boundary region so that the bone fixation material engages the implant and the bone and thereby effects refixation of the loosened implant to the bone.
CLOT EVACUATION AND VISUALIZATION DEVICES AND METHODS OF USE
An integrated clot evacuation device having visualization for use in neurosurgical applications, particularly for the evacuation of clots formed as a result of intracranial hemorrhage (ICH). The device may further include an integrated camera and light for visualizing the interior of the brain and the clot itself. Further, the device is configured to evacuate clots through aspiration and irrigation.
