Ultrasonic surgical instrument with ad hoc formed blade
A method of forming a component of an ultrasonic surgical instrument includes accessing a file including a digital model representing the component. The component includes a proximal portion and a distal portion. The proximal portion includes a contact portion. The distal portion includes an ultrasonic blade. The contact portion is configured to transmit ultrasonic vibrations to the ultrasonic blade when the component is acoustically coupled to a complementary portion of an acoustic waveguide of the ultrasonic surgical instrument. The file is used to fabricate the component via an additive manufacturing process. Once the component has been fabricated, the distal portion is secured to a distal end of the complementary portion of the acoustic waveguide.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT WITH REMOVABLE PORTION TO FACILITATE CLEANING
A surgical instrument has an ultrasonic blade that connects to a distal end of an ultrasonic waveguide. A clamp arm assembly is moveable from an opened position for receiving a tissue, toward a closed position for clamping the tissue. A clamp arm actuator connected to the clamp arm assembly directs the clamp arm assembly from the opened position toward the closed position. An outer sheath surrounds at least a portion of the ultrasonic waveguide. The outer sheath includes a cover removably received against a sheath body, and a sheath securement feature able to detachably couple the cover to the sheath body such that the cover can be detached from the sheath body for accessing the ultrasonic waveguide within the outer sheath.
Ultrasonic surgical instruments having offset blades
Ultrasonic surgical instruments having angularly and/or linearly off-set blades are described. The angularly and/or linearly off-set blades may facilitate increased surgical site access, visibility, and manipulability.
ULTRASONIC SURGICAL INSTRUMENT HAVING DETACHABLE SLEEVE ASSEMBLY
The present application provides an ultrasonic surgical instrument with a detachable cannula component, comprising a cannula component and an instrument body, wherein the instrument body comprises a scalpel bar for realizing an ultrasonic cutting effect. The cannula component is mounted on the instrument body or dismounted from the instrument body along the longitudinal axis of the scalpel bar by a detachable structure. The present application also provides another ultrasonic surgical instrument with a detachable cannula component, comprising a detachable cannula component and an instrument body, wherein the instrument body comprises a non-detachable internal cannula and a scalpel bar capable of realizing an ultrasonic cutting effect. Compared with the prior art, the ultrasonic surgical instrument with a detachable cannula component of the present application has the advantages of being simple in structure, convenient to mount and dismount and low in use cost.
Ultrasonic surgical instruments
A surgical instrument comprising a transducer configured to produce vibrations along a longitudinal axis. The surgical instrument further comprises an ultrasonic blade extending along the longitudinal axis. The ultrasonic blade is coupled to the transducer and comprises a body and a treatment region. The body comprises a proximal end, a distal end, and a bottom surface. The distal end of the body is movable relative to the longitudinal axis by the vibrations produced by the transducer. The treatment region extends from the proximal end to the distal end. The surgical instrument further comprises a protective sheath disposed adjacent to the bottom surface of the ultrasonic blade.
Ultrasonic transducer to waveguide acoustic coupling, connections, and configurations
Various ultrasonic instruments are disclosed. The ultrasonic instruments include an ultrasonic waveguide acoustically coupled to an ultrasonic transducer. Several techniques for acoustically coupling the ultrasonic transducer to the ultrasonic waveguide are disclosed.
BLADE GROUNDING MECHANISMS AND ALTERNATIVE PIN DESIGNS
A surgical instrument includes a body, a shaft assembly, and an end effector. The end effector includes an ultrasonic blade and a clamp arm movably coupled with the shaft assembly. The shaft assembly extends between the body and the end effector and includes an acoustic waveguide, a rotational driver, and a driver wrench. The rotational driver is configured to be received within the rotational drive channel and rotate the shaft assembly relative to the body. The acoustic waveguide includes a notch and the driver wrench includes a key, wherein the first notch of the acoustic waveguide is configured to receive the key.
Ultrasonic treatment devices and systems
In one aspect, the present disclosure pertains to ultrasonic treatment devices that comprise: (a) a flexible elongate body having a proximal end and a distal end, the flexible elongate body being configured for insertion to a target site within a patient; (b) an effector assembly disposed at the distal end of the flexible elongate body, the effector assembly comprising a piezoelectric transducer and an end effector; and (c) flexible electrical conductors in electrical communication with the piezoelectric transducer, the flexible electrical conductors extending along a length of the flexible elongate body, wherein transference of electrical energy to mechanical motion takes place via the piezoelectric transducer at the target site. Other aspects of the present disclosure pertain to systems employing such ultrasonic treatment devices and methods of treatment using such ultrasonic treatment devices.
VIBRATING SURGICAL INSTRUMENT FOR LIPOSUCTION AND OTHER BODY CONTOURING APPLICATIONS
A vibrating hand held surgical instrument for loosening tissue of a patient for liposuction or body contouring procedures. The instrument includes a motor connected to a vibration actuator having an eccentric rotating mass and an end effector for engaging tissue operatively connected to the vibration actuator, wherein the motor rotates the eccentric mass to cause the end effector to vibrate to loosen tissue. A flexible shaft having first end and second ends dampen the vibration to the motor and to the operator handle.
Medical device
A medical device includes, a vibration transmitting member configured to be capable of transmitting vibration for use in a treatment; a jaw configured to move between an abutted position where the jaw abuts on the vibration transmitting member, and a spaced position where the jaw is spaced apart from the vibration transmitting member; and a cover provided in such a position that the vibration transmitting member is interposed between the cover and the jaw, and configured such that a first distal portion, which is located at a distal end of the cover, comes in contact with the vibration transmitting member, when the jaw is located in the abutted position.
