Device and method for access to interior body regions
A device and method is provided to gain access to interior body regions. The system includes a safety needle assembly, a stylet assembly, a blade assembly, an obturator assembly, and a dilator assembly. The safety needle assembly or stylet assembly accesses an interior body region, after which the blade assembly expands the pathway created by the safety needle assembly or stylet assembly. The obturator then further expands the pathway and delivers the dilator assembly to the desired location. The safety needle assembly, obturator assembly, and blade assembly are removed, leaving the dilator assembly in place for future procedures.
Rapidly Insertable Central Catheters, Introducers, Insertion Devices Including Combinations and Methods Thereof
Rapidly insertable central catheters (“RICCs”), introducers, and insertion devices including combinations and methods thereof are disclosed. For example, a RICC system can include an introducer and a RICC insertion assembly including a RICC assembly disposed in a RICC insertion device. The RICC assembly can include a RICC, an access guidewire, and a splittable casing over a catheter tube of the RICC and the access guidewire forming a longitudinal composite. The RICC insertion device can include a frame and a nose cover forming a split channel that splits away from a through channel of a nose of the frame. The RICC insertion device can be configured for advancing the RICC assembly by rolling the longitudinal composite across roller wheels disposed in the frame. The through channel can be configured for advancing the catheter tube therethrough while the split channel can be configured for both splitting and passing the splittable casing therethrough.
Percutaneous drainage device
A percutaneous drainage device for draining a fluid collection located under the skin of a patient is disclosed. The percutaneous drainage device includes a penetration component slidably engaged with a cannula. The penetration component has a piercing end adapted to penetrate tissue of a patient and introduce an open end of the cannula to a subcutaneous fluid collection site. The cannula may be held in place in the patient by an anchoring means. The cannula provides a passage through which a fluid collection may be drained from a patient. The cannula may be in fluid communication with a collection vessel, which collects fluid collection transported away from the subcutaneous fluid collection site.

Various aspects of the present disclosure are directed toward introducer apparatuses, systems, and methods for positioning an implantable medical device within a patient. The introducer may include a housing having a proximal opening and a distal opening and configured to position the implantable medical device adjacent the distal opening prior to ejection and an ejection rod configured to pass through the proximal opening and eject the implantable medical device from the housing through the distal opening of the housing.

Embodiments of the present invention provide magnetic lancet devices and methods for driving a lancet. For example, a magnetic lancet device may include a driving mechanism having a plurality of magnets and a lancet coupled to the driving mechanism. A magnetic interaction between the plurality of magnets is configured to drive the lancet from an engaged position to a penetrating position.
