A method and a corresponding system and computer program product are provided. A model of an object to be manufactured is obtained. Information about one or more available machine tools and one or more available cutting tools is obtained. A geometric feature to be machined as part of manufacturing the object is identified. A database including strategies for machining different geometric features is accessed. The database includes a plurality of strategies defining different ways of machining the identified geometric feature. One or more strategies are selected from the plurality of strategies based on the obtained information. A computer simulation is performed for the one or more selected strategies, and user instructions responsive to the computer simulation are received. Instructions for causing one or more machine tools to manufacture the object via subtractive manufacturing are provided based on the user instructions and a strategy of the one or more selected strategies.

A food processing machine includes a plurality of tool parts which are exchangeable and which each comprise at least one electronic data storage in which a tool identification is stored for identifying the respective tool parts, and a controlling system for reading the tool identifications. The controlling system is configured to determine, based on the tool identification read by it from the at least one data storage of an exchangeable tool part installed at the food processing machine, processes basically implementable with this tool part which are possible for an operation of the tool part, and to determine an intersection of detailed processes by a comparison of these processes with processes basically performable by the food processing machine based on machine equipment employed for the tool part and firmly installed in the food processing machine, by which the tool part can be controlled by the machine equipment provided for it.

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for machining knowledge reuse by determining a machining strategy for a designated part to be formed, based at least in part on machining strategy information used to form one or more similar parts. Methods include receiving an input representation (such as a 3D model) of the designated part, searching a machining knowledge database for one or more similar parts that have a shape similar to the designated part, retrieving machining strategy information that was used to form the similar parts, and deriving a machining strategy for the designated part based at least in part on the machining strategy information used to form the similar parts.
Method and computer system for characterizing a sheet metal part
A method for the characterization of a sheet metal forming product uses the correlation of material flow data to a priori calculated or measured data. It determines whether the product falls within the acceptable production limits in terms of quality, areas of potential defects and an approximation of the process parameters prevailing during its production. The characterization is performed in real-time during production, tool deployment or try-out. The method includes the steps of: providing physical dimensions of an actual sheet metal part; a feature extractor computing, from these physical dimensions, a measured material flow metric representative of the geometry of the part after the forming operation; and a matching unit determining, from reference data and the measured material flow metric, a matching forming operation data set whose associated simulated material flow metric most closely matches the measured material flow metric.

A machining state display apparatus includes an achievement degree data storage (9) storing machining condition data relating to each of sets of machining conditions and achievement degree data relating to degrees of achievement of evaluation items to be obtained in machining under each of the sets of machining conditions, with the machining condition data and the achievement degree data being associated with each other, a display part (2) displaying a set of machining conditions and degrees of achievement of the evaluation items corresponding thereto on a display (5), and an input part (6) inputting a signal for selecting one from the evaluation items and a required degree of achievement for the selected evaluation item. The display part (2) recognizes, based on the selected evaluation item and the required degree of achievement, a set of machining conditions corresponding to the required degree of achievement for the selected evaluation item as well as the degrees of achievement of other evaluation items to be obtained under the set of machining conditions by referring to the achievement degree data storage (9), and displays the recognized degrees of achievement on evaluation-item basis and displays the recognized set of machining conditions.

A machining condition selecting device includes a machining condition contribution data management unit configured to manage machining condition contribution data in which each of a plurality of machining conditions is associated with a 3-dimensional surface roughness parameter and degrees of contribution to each item of a required condition related to productivity of a target product; a matter of priority acquisition unit configured to acquire a combination of the 3-dimensional surface roughness parameter and at least one item of the required condition as a matter of priority; and a machining condition selection data management unit configured to manage, for each of the plurality of machining conditions, machining condition selection data in which a combination pattern of the matters of priority is associated with a sum of the degrees of contribution to each item in the combination pattern.

A method for projecting a production process for producing a workpiece with a desired formation of a characteristic feature of the workpiece is implemented by a computer system. Using the method, the desired formation of the characteristic feature of the workpiece is detected and compared with formations of the characteristic feature of preceding workpieces. The formations of the characteristic feature of the preceding workpieces are stored in a formation database and a production parameter that is stored in a parameter database. When a formation of the characteristic feature of a preceding workpiece that is relevant to the desired formation of the characteristic feature is established with reference to the definition of the production parameter, the production parameter is defined for the production process for producing the workpiece with the desired formation of the characteristic feature.
