Pedicle screw having a removable rod coupling
A pedicle screw for spinal fixation having a bone fastener portion a permanent rod coupling, a breakaway portion connected to the permanent rod coupling and a temporary rod coupling. A permanent rod can be positioned in the permanent rod coupling and a temporary rod can be positioned in the temporary rod coupling and when the temporary rod is not needed the temporary rod coupling can be removed by separation at a breakaway portion.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR INTRAOPERATIVELY MEASURING ANATOMICAL ORIENTATION
Systems and methods are disclosed in which changes in the position and/or orientation of an anatomical structure or of a surgical tool can be measured quantitatively during surgery. In some embodiments, the systems and methods disclosed herein can make use of inertial motion sensors to determine a position or orientation of an instrument or anatomy at different times and to calculate changes between different positions or orientations. In other embodiments, such sensors can be utilized in conjunction with imaging devices to correlate sensor position with anatomical landmarks, thereby permitting determination of absolute angular orientation of a landmark. Such systems and methods can facilitate real-time tracking of progress during a variety of procedures, including, e.g., spinal deformity correction, etc.
THREADED TARGETING INSTRUMENTS, SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USE
Instruments, implants, bone plates, systems and methods for correcting bone deformities and fractures in the lower extremity are disclosed. Specifically, targeting instruments, implants, bone plates, systems and methods used for correcting bone deformities and/or fractures in the foot using compression are disclosed.
Sinus tarsi implant
A sinus tarsi implant for the purpose of stabilizing and restoring motion between the talus and calcaneus while allowing normal motion and alignment. In a preferred embodiment, the implant is composed of a titanium alloy that is a combination of a cylindrical portion and an axially connected conical portion. The cylindrical portion has a surface with multiple parallel grooves that are each parallel to the transverse axis of the cylinder. The grooves are uniquely shaped with a perpendicular medial side and an angled lateral side. The implant is cannulated to enable use of a guide wire that insures proper alignment during insertion.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS INCLUDING A SET OF CUTTING BURRS FOR PERFORMING AN OSTEOTOMY
Surgical instruments and methods for performing an osteotomy are disclosed herein. A surgical instrument includes a body with a distal end, a proximal end, a first surface, and a second surface. The surgical instrument can include cutting burrs positioned on the first surface and/or the second surface. The surgical instrument can also include cutting burrs positioned on the first surface and cutting blades positioned on the second surface.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR LAPIDUS REPAIR OF BUNIONS
Systems, devices, and methods for performing Lapidus bunionectomy procedures are disclosed. An example method includes inserting a plurality of metatarsal pins into the first metatarsal at a first predetermined spacing relative to the first tarsometatarsal (TMT) joint, excising the first TMT joint by cutting the bases of the first metatarsal and the first cuneiform proximate the first TMT joint, inserting a plurality of cuneiform pins into the first cuneiform at a second predetermined spacing relative to the first TMT joint, compressing the first TMT joint using a compressor block such that a cut face of the first metatarsal contacts a cut face of the first cuneiform, and fixing the first TMT joint using a bone plate and a plurality of bone screws. At least one of the plurality of bone screws may be a cross screw extending at an angle of less than 90 degrees relative to the bone plate and may anchor the resected first TMT joint to the second metatarsal or the second cuneiform to prevent recurrence of the bunion.
CUT GUIDE, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
A cut guide includes a body having a first face and an opposed second face. The first face of the body defines first and second apertures, a first fixation hole, and an attachment hole. The first and second apertures are configured to guide a surgical tool, and the first fixation hole extends through the cut guide from the first face to the second face and is configured to receive a wire to position the cut guide against a bone. The attachment hole is configured to attach the cut guide to another component. A system including the cut guide and methods of using the system also are disclosed.
Resection guides, implants and methods
Resection guides, implants and methods are disclosed. A guide may include a plate with a first end opposite a second end and a medial portion extending therebetween. The guide may also include at least one opening in the first end of the plate. The guide may further include at least one hole positioned along a longitudinal axis of the plate near the at least one opening. Surgical methods for using the guide for bone and joint fusions is also disclosed.
Surgical Tool and Method
A surgical tool and method for engaging and manipulating a bone includes a tool body having a main body axis, a threaded end, and a handling end, the threaded end having threads and a tool stop. The handling end is positioned to allow a user to grasp, manipulate, and rotate the tool body around the main body axis. The threads are positioned to allow the surgical tool to bore into and engage the bone when the tool body is rotated in a boring direction around the main body axis, the threads allowing for tightening engagement with the bone as the tool body is rotated in the boring direction around the main body axis. The tool stop is positioned to prevent the tool from being further rotated around the main body axis to prevent further boring into the bone when the tool stop contacts the bone.
SURGICAL IMPLANT FOR CORRECTION OF HALLUX VALGUS OR TAILOR'S BUNION
Methods and devices for correcting hallux valgus and tailor's bunion are disclosed. An implant includes a bone engaging feature on each end connected by an intermediate portion. The implant is configured to be positioned on the dorsal side of the metatarsals and stabilizes two adjacent metatarsals toward one another, thereby decreasing the intermetatarsal angle. Depending on the severity of the deformity, a single or multiple implants may be used. In addition, the implant may be used as an adjunctive device in combination with other surgical procedures.
