SURGICAL JIG

Surgical jigs for use in an osteotomy are provided herein. One surgical jig includes a rail body, a contact coupled to the rail body and configured to engage a metatarsal of a subject, and an attachment body coupled to the rail body and configured to engage a cuneiform of the subject. Other surgical jigs include a rail body, a contact coupled to the rail body and configured to engage a metatarsal of a subject; an arm coupled to the rail body, an attachment body coupled to the arm and configured to engage a cuneiform of the subject, a rail hinge coupling the arm and the rail body, a rail adjustment screw coupled to the arm, a rotation guide coupled to the rail body, and a distraction body coupled to the rail body. Some surgical jigs are reversible for performing an osteotomy on either foot or both feet of the subject.

OSTEOTOMY CUTTING SYSTEMS AND SURGICAL TECHNIQUES

Osteotomy cutting systems and surgical methods are provided herein. One surgical method includes coupling, to a cuneiform of a subject, a surgical apparatus for use in facilitating correction of a bunion and coupling the surgical apparatus to another bone of the subject. Another surgical method includes coupling a surgical apparatus to a cuneiform and metatarsal of a subject, coupling a cutting block for alignment at a joint between the cuneiform and the metatarsal, and performing a surgical procedure utilizing the surgical apparatus and the cutting block to correct a bunion. A further surgical method includes providing a surgical apparatus for use in facilitating correction of a bunion in a subject in which the surgical apparatus is configured to couple to a cuneiform and a metatarsal of the subject and performing a surgical procedure utilizing the surgical apparatus while the surgical apparatus is coupled to the cuneiform and the metatarsal.

BONE ALIGN AND JOINT PREPARATION DEVICE AND METHOD

A bone displacement system includes an anchoring portion, a tool engaging portion, a compression distraction mechanism, a lateral body and a distal body. The anchoring portion has an aperture for receiving a wire to connect the anchoring portion to a proximal bone. The anchoring portion is connectable to a downwardly depending member for holding a tissue portion. The tool engaging portion is connected to the anchoring portion and is configured to connect a tool thereto. The compression-distraction mechanism is connected to the anchoring portion. The lateral body is connected to the compression-distraction mechanism and engageable with a lateral bone. The distal body is connected to the compression-distraction mechanism. The distal body has an aperture for receiving a wire to connect the distal body to a distal bone. The compression-distraction mechanism is configured to move the anchoring portion relative to the distal body.

FIRST METATARSAL LATERAL RELEASE INSTRUMENT AND TECHNIQUE

Instruments and techniques can be used to release a first metatarsal for realignment. In some implementations, a techniques involves surgically accessing a sesamoidal ligament in a foot of a patient and advancing a guiding projection of a cutting instrument under the sesamoidal ligament. This can capture the sesamoidal ligament between the guiding projection of the cutting instrument and a cutting surface of the cutting instrument that is recessed relative to a distal end of the guiding projection. The techniques further involves cutting the sesamoidal ligament with the cutting surface of the cutting instrument.

DEVICES AND TECHNIQUES FOR TREATING LESSER METATARSALS OF THE FOOT

A variety of surgical procedures may be performed on the bones of the foot, such as on one or more lesser metatarsals of the foot positioned laterally of the first metatarsal. For example, a surgical procedure may involve cutting an end of one or both of a second metatarsal and an intermediate cuneiform and/or cutting an end of one or both of a third metatarsal and a lateral cuneiform. The tarsometatarsal joints defined be one or both sets of bones may be cut to treat an arthritic joint, metatarsus adductus, and/or other clinical condition. In any case, various surgical instruments can be utilized during a procedure to help increase the accuracy and repeatability of the procedure patient-to-patient, improving overall patient outcomes. For example, one or more cut guides, compressor-distractor devices, and/or other instruments designed to accommodate the specific anatomical conditions of the procedure being performed may be utilized during procedure.

ANATOMICALLY-FITTED TARSOMETATARSAL BONE PLATE

A bone plate can be used to fixate one or more bones. In some examples, a bone plate has first, second, third, and fourth fixation holes. The first and second fixation holes may be located in a distal body region of the bone plate and co-linear with a bridge central longitudinal axis. The third and fourth fixation holes may be located in a proximal body region of the bone plate, with the third fixation hole co-linear with the bridge central longitudinal axis and the fourth fixation hole offset from the bridge central longitudinal axis in a first plane by a first angle and in a second plane by a second angle.

Method and apparatus for force redistribution in articular joints

Pathologies of joints arising from improper force distributions are addressed by displacement of targeted connective and muscle tissues surrounding the joint in order to realign force vectors and alter moment arms loading the joint.

PROCESS, KIT, AND IMPLANT FOR CORRECTION OF A BONE INJURY

There is a process for correcting a bone injury, an implant for correcting the bone injury and a kit for applying the implant for correcting the bone injury. The process can be made substantially uniform with the application of a standardized kit. In at least one application the process is for correcting a bunion on a patient. The process can include applying a first drill guide to a bone, and then a second drill guide. Once the drill guides have been applied and wires have been inserted into a bone, an implant can then be applied to correct a bone injury and to allow the bone injury to heal.
