Surgical forceps having a cutting edge
A surgical forceps includes an end effector assembly including a first jaw member and a second jaw member pivotally engaged with one another. At least one of the first or second jaw member is pivotable between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position. The first jaw member includes first and second surfaces on opposite sides thereof. The first surface is disposed in opposition to the second jaw member. The second surface includes a cutting edge disposed on a proximal portion thereof. The second jaw member includes a proximal flange having first and second raised sidewalls defining a proximal channel therebetween. The proximal channel receives the cutting edge of the first jaw member when the first and second jaw members are in the approximated position. The cutting edge of the first jaw member is exposed when the first and second jaw members are in the spaced apart position.
ELECTRICITY SUPPLIER
A power supply device in which a device shaft provided with a power receiver is inserted in a through-hole of a port site, which is capable of supplying electric power to the power receiver at a low cost and enabling fine operation of the device shaft. The power supply includes a port site; first terminals provided on an inner surface of the through-hole; wires that connect the first terminals and a power source; a device shaft that is insertable into the through-hole; a power receiver provided on the device shaft; second terminals provided on an outer surface of the device shaft; and wires that connect the power receiver and the second terminals. Electric power from the power supply can be supplied to the power receiver by inserting the device shaft into the through-hole to thereby bring the first terminals and the second terminals into contact with each other.
ELECTROSURGICAL FORCEPS WITH TENSION SENSOR
A surgical instrument includes a housing having an elongated shaft extending distally from the housing and configured to support an end effector assembly at a distal end thereof. The end effector assembly including first and second jaw members, each jaw member including a tissue sealing plate disposed thereon. A force gauge is disposed on one or both the tissue sealing plates of the first and second jaw members. The force gauge is configured to measure a force associated with the one (or both) tissue sealing plate and communicate the force measurement to an electrosurgical energy source. The electrosurgical energy source is configured to correlate the force measurement to an amount of tension on tissue disposed between the first and second jaw members and alert a user if the amount of tension falls outside a particular range.

An example electrosurgical device includes a body, an electrosurgical electrode secured to the body, the electrosurgical electrode including a distal tip. The electrosurgical device also includes a shroud translatable relative to the electrosurgical electrode between a first position and a second position, a first magnetic component which is operably connected to the body, and a second magnetic component which is operably connected to the shroud, wherein the first and second magnetic components magnetically interact to releasably maintain the shroud in the first position.
Electrosurgical plug for energy activation of surgical instruments
A surgical system includes an active terminal, a return terminal, an active electrode, a return electrode, an active plug configured to connect to the active terminal, and a return plug configured to connect to the return terminal. The return plug is coupled to the return electrode and coupled between the active plug and the active electrode. The return plug is configured to break an electrical connection between the active plug and the active electrode when the return plug is not connected to the return terminal and to establish an electrical connection between the active plug and the active electrode when the return plug is connected to the return terminal.
Surgical robotic system with carriage and manipulator unit
Some embodiments are directed to a surgical robotic system including a suspension structure 1, a carriage 2 arranged to be mounted to the suspension structure, and a manipulator arm 3 arranged to be detachably docked to the carriage via a docking mechanism. The docking mechanism includes a first docking connector on the manipulator arm and a second docking connector on the carriage. The first and the second docking connector may establish an electrical connection between the manipulator arm and the carriage when the manipulator arm is docked. The manipulator arm includes a connector for connecting the manipulator arm via a cable to an electric power supply, and be configured to supply the carriage with the electrical power via the electrical connection when the manipulator arm is docked.
PORTABLE TEST APPARATUS AND METHOD OF TESTING RF/MICROWAVE TREATMENT SYSTEM
A portable test apparatus for testing an RF/microwave treatment system, the portable test apparatus comprising: a connector configured for connection to a generator or amplifier of the treatment system and/or to a distal end of a reusable transmission cable of the treatment system; a measurement device configured for measuring RF/microwave energy received through the connector; and a test controller configured to: run at least one test of a set of tests for testing the treatment system, at least some of the set of tests comprising using the measurement device to measure RF/microwave energy supplied by a generator or amplifier of the treatment system to a proximal end of the reusable transmission cable and transmitted through the reusable transmission cable to the connector; and analyse and/or record and/or output results of the set of tests.
