The part inserted below the skin can be vibrated or oscillated by means of suitable transducers to aid in distributing the radiation. Simultaneously or immediately afterwards, liquefied tissue is aspirated. If convenient, fluid irrigation of the area to be treated can be done. In a preferred embodiment, handpiece consists in a hollow cannula incorporating at least one channel for suction and/or irrigation and a light guiding means in its body/wall section for the purpose of the treatment and liquefaction of adipose tissue. The device further comprises at least one radiation source, included in device part affixed to the handpiece either in a permanent or detachable manner.

A device for thermal incision of tissue including a tissue heating element, an oscillatory mechanism that advances the tissue heating element toward tissue and retracts the tissue heating element from tissue, a detector that detects when the tissue heating element contacts the tissue, and a heat controller that controls heating of the tissue heating element, wherein the heat controller for the tissue heating element controls heating the tissue heating element based on detecting when the tissue heating element contacts tissue. Related apparatus and methods are also described.

Surgical forceps

A forceps includes an end effector assembly having first and second jaw members moveable with respect to one another between an open position and a closed position. A knife channel having a body and a base is defined within each jaw member. A knife assembly includes a knife having a bifurcated distal end. The bifurcated end includes first and second cutting members each defining an opposed cutting surface and having a tab at a free end thereof for translation through the base of a knife channel. The knife is translatable into the channels when the jaw members are in the closed position such that the cutting members are approximated when translated through the channels. The knife is also translatable into the channels when the jaw members are in the open position such that the cutting members are flexed apart when translated through the jaw members.

ORGAN RESECTION TOOL

An organ resection tool has a first conductor configured to apply microwaves, a second conductor configured to receive the microwaves, an insulator with which at least one of the first conductor and the second conductor is partially or entirely covered, and a brush structure connected directly or indirectly to the insulator or to at least one of the first conductor and the second conductor.

ELECTROSURGICAL SNARE DEVICE
20170245909 · 2017-08-31 ·

An electrosurgical snare device is provided which uses a flow of inert gas to assist in the cutting and sealing process of tissue, while substantially reducing the formation of eschar and collateral tissue damage. The electrosurgical device includes a housing having a longitudinal axis; a support shaft attached to a distal end of the housing, and an end effector coupled to a distal end of the support shaft. The end effector includes a tube including a plurality of apertures and an electrically conducting spring disposed around the tube, where a spacing of the coils of the spring coincides with a spacing of the plurality of apertures, wherein a gas assisted electrosurgical effect is formed at each of the plurality of apertures when an inert gas flows through the tube and the spring is energized. The tube may be configured as a loop or snare.

ENERGY TREATMENT INSTRUMENT

The energy treatment instrument includes an end effector performing treatment using treatment energy, and a moving part disposed so as to be movable relative to a housing and moving relative to the housing based on an operation input to move the end effector or an operation input to supply treatment energy to the end effector. The energy treatment instrument includes an energy converter converting kinetic energy due to a movement of the moving part into electric energy and storing the converted electric energy in an electricity storage.

Ultrasonic forceps

An ultrasonic forceps comprises a housing, an acoustic assembly, and a tine. The housing joins the acoustic assembly and the tine to the forceps and permits the tine to pivot relative to the acoustic assembly. The acoustic assembly comprises a transducer, a waveguide, and ultrasonic blade, and a waveguide sheath. The transducer is configured to generate ultrasonic vibrations directing the ultrasonic vibrations to the waveguide. The waveguide communicates the ultrasonic vibrations distally to the ultrasonic blade. The ultrasonic blade is configured to vibrate in response to the ultrasonic vibrations generated by the transducer. When the tine is pivoted relative to the transducer, the tine is configured to move toward the ultrasonic blade. Tissue may be grasped between the tine and the ultrasonic blade. The tissue may be denatured when the ultrasonic vibrations generated by the transducer vibrate the ultrasonic blade, thus resulting in the tissue being cut and/or sealed.
