The hub is configured for detachably coupling to the handpiece, and the motor drive is configured to couple to a rotating drive coupling in the hub when the hub is coupled to the handpiece. A first magnetic component is carried by the hub, and a second magnetic component is coupled to rotate with the rotating drive coupling.
Electrosurgical instrument with variable control mechanisms
A surgical instrument comprising a motor assembly, a shaft defining a shaft axis, a distal head, a rotary drive member, and a distal head lock member movable between a first position where the distal head is unlocked from the shaft and a second position where the distal head is locked to the shaft is disclosed. The motor assembly comprises a motor and a controller configured to operate the motor in first and second operating modes. The distal head comprises an end effector movable between an open configuration and a closed configuration. The distal head is rotated about the shaft axis when the distal head lock member is in the first position and the rotary drive member is actuated. The end effector is moved from the open configuration toward the closed configuration when the distal head lock member is in the second position and the rotary drive member is actuated.
FORCEPS WITH LINEAR TRIGGER KICKOUT MECHANISM
A forceps includes shaft members each having a jaw member disposed at a distal end thereof and configured move the jaw members between open and closed position. A knife deployment mechanism includes a trigger moveable along a longitudinal axis to deploy a knife between retracted and extended positions between the jaw members, the knife deployment mechanism including links that cooperate to actuate the knife. A knife kickout mechanism is pivotably coupled to one link and is configured to engage a ramp disposed in a shaft member upon approximation of the shaft members, the knife kickout is configured to cooperate with the links to urge the knife back to an at rest position upon the opening of the shaft members.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT FOR ELECTROCAUTERY
A surgical instrument for electrocautery is provided. The surgical instrument is a manually operable surgical instrument for electrocautery for use in laparoscopic surgery or various surgeries.
Methods and systems for reducing neural activity in an organ of a subject
The present disclosure provides, according to some embodiments, methods and systems for selectively reducing, blocking or inhibiting at least part of the neural activity in an organ of a subject. In preferred embodiments, the method and system are used for selectively blocking at least part of the neural activity in a duodenum of a subject in need thereof. According to some embodiments, the selective blocking occurs through use of laser radiation. According to some embodiments, the selective blocking comprises causing damage to at least part of sensory nerves located within a target area while maintaining functional activity of tissue surrounding the sensory nerves. According to some embodiments, the sensory nerves include neurons configured to transmit signals triggered by food passing through the duodenum, such as, but not limited to, neurohormonal signals.
Electrosurgical instrument with rotation and articulation mechanisms
An electrosurgical instrument is disclosed including an end effector, a shaft assembly, and a link. The end effector includes a first jaw rotatable relative to a second jaw between an open position and a closed position. The shaft assembly includes an outer tube, a jaw tube disposed within the outer tube, an actuation band operably coupled to the jaw tube. The jaw tube is configured to move within the outer tube between a proximal end and a distal end. The link includes a first end and a second end. The first end of the link is pivotably coupled to the actuation band. The second end of the link is pivotably coupled to the first jaw. The jaw tube is configured to rotate the first jaw towards the closed position based on movement of the jaw tube towards the proximal end.
ELECTROSURGICAL FORCEPS COMPRISING A SUCTION DEVICE
An electrosurgical forceps comprises a first arm and a second arm connected by a pivot joint for moving the arms toward and away from one another. The two arms have a distal end and a proximal end. A first electrode and a second electrode are disposed at the distal ends of the first arm and the second arm, respectively. The electrosurgical forceps comprise a channel extending in the first arm to terminate at the distal end thereof in a suction conduit having a main opening and an axial opening. The second arm is configured to at least partially close the main opening of the suction conduit when the two arms are in a position moved toward one another.
ARTHROSCOPIC DEVICES AND METHODS
A resecting probe includes a shaft assembly having an outer sleeve and an inner sleeve. The outer sleeve has an axial bore and an outer window in a distal side thereof, and the inner sleeve has an axial extraction channel and inner window in a distal side thereof. The inner sleeve is rotationally disposed in the axial bore of the outer sleeve to allow the inner sleeve window to be rotated in and out of alignment with the outer sleeve window, and the shaft assembly forms a flow aperture in a distal portion when the inner cutting window and the outer cutting window are out of alignment. An electrode is carried on the inner sleeve, and a motor drive is coupled to rotate the inner sleeve relative to the outer sleeve. A controller is coupled to the motor drive and controls rotation of the inner sleeve and can stop rotation of the inner sleeve in a stop position where the outer and inner windows are out of alignment, providing the flow aperture to allow cooling of fluid in a working space and cooling of the probe handpiece during use.
Rotatable snares and related methods
A medical device may include a handle, a sheath fixed relative to the handle, a longitudinal actuator movable relative to the handle, an end effector, a member extending proximally from the end effector through the sheath, with a portion of the member being fixed relative to the longitudinal actuator, and a rotation actuator. Movement of the rotation actuator may cause rotation of the member relative to the sheath, and movement of the longitudinal actuator may cause longitudinal movement of the member relative to the rotation actuator.
