A containment bag assembly for extracting a tissue specimen comprises a bag having one or more segmenting wires, an outer tube comprising a proximal and distal end, a flexible ring configured to form a top opening of the containment bag, wherein the flexible ring comprises two ring subassemblies, each having a proximal and distal end, a flexible member positioned between and coupled to the distal ends of the two ring subassemblies, wherein, when the flexible member is in a collapsed position, the two ring subassemblies are in a collapsed position and the containment bag is configured to be stored within the outer tube, and wherein, when the flexible member is in an expanded position, the two ring subassemblies and the flexible member bias the top opening of the containment bag to an open position to enable placement of the tissue specimen within the containment bag.
CONTROL METHODS AND DEVICES FOR ENERGY DELIVERY
Control systems and methods for delivery of energy that may include control algorithms that prevent energy delivery if a fault is detected and may provide energy delivery to produce a substantially constant temperature at a delivery site. In some embodiments, the control systems and methods may be used to control the delivery of energy, such as radiofrequency energy, to body tissue, such as lung tissue.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TREATING TISSUE WITH RADIOFREQUENCY ENERGY
A system for controlling operation of a radiofrequency treatment device to apply radiofrequency energy to tissue to heat tissue to create lesions without ablating the tissue. The system includes a first treatment device having at least one electrode for applying radiofrequency energy to tissue, a controller including a connector to which a first treatment device is coupled for use, and a generator for applying radiofrequency energy to the electrodes. The controller controls application of energy so that the tissue is thermally treated to create lesions but preventing thermal treatment beyond a threshold which would ablate the tissue.
Basket Catheter with Mushroom Shape Distal Tip
Embodiments of the present invention include a medical probe having an insertion tube, a basket assembly, an axial electrode, and a plurality of radial electrodes. The insertion tube is configured for insertion into a body cavity of a patient. The basket assembly has a proximal end that is connected distally to the insertion tube and includes a plurality of resilient spines, which are configured to bow radially outward from an axis of the basket assembly and are conjoined at a distal end of the basket assembly. The axial electrode is disposed at the distal end of the basket assembly, having a diameter of at least 1.5 millimeters, and is configured to contact tissue in the body cavity. The plurality of radial electrodes are configured to contact the tissue in the body cavity and include radial electrodes disposed on the spines.
Ablation Device and Ablation System
An ablation device and an ablation system provided with an ablation device, include an ablation assembly and an adjustment assembly provided at the proximal end of the ablation assembly. The adjustment assembly includes an outer catheter and an inner catheter which extend axially. The ablation assembly includes a supporting framework and an ablation member provided on the supporting framework. The supporting framework includes a positioning frame and a bearing frame. The positioning frame is provided at the distal end relative to the bearing frame, the distal end of the outer catheter is connected to the proximal end of the bearing frame, the distal end of the inner catheter is connected to the distal end of the positioning frame. During moving of the inner catheter relative to the outer catheter, the supporting framework deforms, and the deformation ratio of the positioning frame is less than that of the bearing frame.
Systems and methods for treating tissue with radiofrequency energy
A system for controlling operation of a radiofrequency treatment device to apply radiofrequency energy to tissue to treat tissue to create lesions without ablating the tissue. The system includes a first treatment device having a plurality of electrodes. The electrodes are maintained in axial alignment and fixed radial spacing in retracted and extended positions. The device includes a basket having a plurality of arms. The arms are maintained in a fixed radial spacing in the collapsed position of the basket.
Enhanced medical device for use in bodily cavities, for example an atrium
Systems, methods, and devices allow intravascular or percutaneous mapping, orientation and/or ablation, in bodily cavities or lumens. A device includes elongate members, moveable between an unexpanded configuration and an expanded or fanned configuration. The elongate members form a stack in the unexpanded configuration to fit through a catheter sheath. The elongate members follow respective arcuate or curvilinear paths as advanced from the sheath into the bent or coiled stack configuration, adopting volute, scroll or rho shapes, and may be nested. The elongated members are fanned or radially spaced circumferentially with respect to one another into the expanded or fanned configuration. Transducer elements carried by elongate members sense various physiological characteristics of or proximate tissue, and/or may apply energy to or proximate tissue. The elongate members are rotatable in groups or as a group in the expanded configuration. The device is retractable.
Device, system, and method for imaging and tissue characterization of ablated tissue
Disclosed herein is a system for ablating and characterizing tissue. The system comprises an ablation element configured to emit ablative energy toward a tissue of interest, an imaging apparatus configured to emit energy and collect imaging data including reflected signals from the tissue of interest, and a characterization application. The characterization application comprises a signal analyzer for analyzing the imaging data and determining one or more signal properties from the reflected signals, and a correlation processor configured to associate the one or more signal properties to pre-determined tissue signal properties of different tissue components through a pattern recognition technique. The pre-determined tissue signal properties are embodied in a database, and the correlation processor is configured to identify a tissue component and an ablation level of the tissue of interest based on the pattern recognition technique.
Medical device for treating a vein
A medical device for treating a vein, including component parts thereof, wherein the device comprises a vein stretching member; a vein stretching member for use with the device; a kit of parts including the device and one or more vein stretching member and a method for treating a vein including use of the device.
Systems and methods for selecting, activating, or selecting and activating transducers
Transducer-based systems can be configured to display a graphical representation of a transducer-based device, the graphical representation including graphical elements corresponding to transducers of the transducer-based device, and also including between graphical elements respectively associated with a set of the transducers and respectively associated with a region of space between the transducers of the transducer-based device. Selection of graphical elements and/or between graphical elements can cause activation of the set of transducers associated with the selected elements. Selection of a plurality of graphical elements and/or between graphical elements can cause visual display of a corresponding activation path in the graphical representation. Visual characteristics of graphical elements and between graphical elements can change based on an activation-status of the corresponding transducers. Activation requests for a set of transducers can be denied if it is determined that a transducer in the set of transducers is unacceptable for activation.
