ATHERECTOMY GUIDANCE THROUGH PHOTOACOUSTIC SIGNAL ANALYSIS
Methods, Apparatuses, and Systems of operating a laser atherectomy system to perform an endoscopic atherectomy procedure within a vessel at a therapeutic region of an anatomical condition by use of an atherectomy laser device coupled to an ultrasound imaging probe. The atherectomy laser device operates to generate photoacoustic signals from a light source of the atherectomy laser device to for guidance within the vessel and to characterize tissue about the therapeutic region by delivery of pulsed wavelengths within the vessel, and to perform operations of tissue ablation directed to the anatomical condition. This enables guidance of the atherectomy laser device by feedback from the viewing of photoacoustic images based on photoacoustic signals generated the atherectomy laser device and created in response to changes in acoustic intensity due to changes of optical wavelength monitored by the ultrasound imaging probe.
GUIDED RENAL DENERVATION USING NERVE STIMULATION WITH BLOOD PRESSURE AND RENAL BLOOD VELOCITY MEASUREMENTS, AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS, DEVICE, AND METHODS
A system includes a processor circuit configured to receive an endovascular flow measurement obtained by an endovascular flow measurement positioned within a blood vessel of a patient. The system controls a nerve stimulation device to stimulate a nerve of the patient and receives an additional endovascular flow measurement while the nerve is stimulated. The processor circuit then performs a comparison of the two flow measurements received and provides an output based on the comparison.
Septotomy catheter for aortic dissection
Medical methods and devices for treating aortic dissections. A catheter-based cutting device permits cutting a septum of acute or chronic aortic dissections, in a retrograde manner. The catheter includes a base section having a central lumen therethrough and two flexible arms extending from a distal end thereof. The flexible arms can each have a guide wire channel therethrough. With distal ends of the two flexible arms separated, the two arms form a Y-shape with the base section. In one embodiment, with distal ends of the two flexible arms together, the two arms have a longitudinal profile, about a periphery thereof, identical to a longitudinal profile of the base section. A cutting component resides between the two arms. The cutting component can face distally outward between the two arms with the distal ends of the two flexible arms separated.
SYSTEMS FOR FORMING A FISTULA
A system for forming a fistula includes a first catheter, a second catheter, one or more magnetic field sensors, a user output device, and a control unit. The first catheter includes one or more first catheter magnetic elements and a fistula-forming element. The second catheter includes one or more second catheter magnetic elements. The one or more magnetic field sensors are configured to output a magnetic field signal. The control unit is configured to determine a distance of separation of the first catheter from the second catheter based the magnetic field signal from the one or more magnetic field sensors and output a ready signal with the user output device in response to determining that the distance of separation of the first catheter from the second catheter is a predetermined distance or less.
POWER CONTROL FOR AN ELECTROSURGICAL VESSEL SEALER
A power delivery approach for delivering power to an electrosurgical vessel sealer when the jaws of the sealer surround tissue to be desiccated. Power delivery commences at a starting point that is at least 40 Joules and then decreases over a first predetermined period of time to a predetermined minimum power level to provide approximately 15 Joules in total. When the predetermined minimum power level is reached, power is then continuously increased over a second predetermined period of time to fully desiccate the tissue. Power delivery is terminated prior to over-desiccation of the tissue.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MONITORING ENERGY APPLICATION TO DENERVATE A PULMONARY ARTERY
A catheter system for ablation of tissue around a blood vessel, e.g., the pulmonary artery, to reduce neural activity of nerves surrounding the blood vessel. The catheter system includes an elongate shaft having a proximal portion coupled to a handle, and a distal portion. The distal portion includes a transducer and an expandable anchor, which may be actuated to transition between a collapsed delivery state and an expanded deployed state where the anchor centralizes the transducer within the blood vessel. The transducer may be actuated to emit energy to reduce neural activity of the nerves surrounding the blood vessel. Systems and method are further provided for confirming that neural activity of the nerves surround the blood vessel has been sufficiently reduced.
RENAL NERVE DENERVATION VIA THE RENAL PELVIS
Apparatus, systems, and methods provide access to the renal pelvis of a kidney to treat renal nerves embedded in tissue surrounding the renal pelvis. Access to the renal pelvis may be via the urinary tract or via minimally invasive incisions through the abdomen and kidney tissue. Treatment is effected by exchanging energy, typically delivering heat or extracting heat through a wall of the renal pelvis, or by delivering active substances.
EXPANDABLE CATHETER ASSEMBLY WITH FLEXIBLE PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD (PCB) ELECTRICAL PATHWAYS
Provided is a flex-PCB catheter device that is configured to be inserted into a body lumen. The flex-PCB catheter comprises an elongate shaft, an expandable assembly, a flexible printed circuit board (flex-PCB) substrate, a plurality of electronic components and a plurality of communication paths. The elongate shaft comprises a proximal end and a distal end. The expandable assembly is configured to transition from a radially compact state to a radially expanded state. The plurality of electronic elements are coupled to the flex-PCB substrate and are configured to receive and/or transmit an electric signal. The plurality of communication paths are positioned on and/or within the flex-PCB substrate. The communication paths selectively couple the plurality of electronic elements to a plurality of electrical contacts configured to electrically connect to an electronic module configured to process the electrical signal. The flex-PCB substrate can have multiple layers, including one or more metallic layers. Acoustic matching elements and conductive traces can be includes in the flex-PCB substrate.
TREATMENT SYSTEM HAVING GENERATOR AND FLUID TRANSFER CARTRIDGE
A treatment system includes a generator and a fluid transfer cartridge. The fluid transfer cartridge includes a cartridge shell defining a cartridge cavity between a front face and a rear face. The front face includes an opening, and the cartridge cavity is visibly exposed through the opening. The fluid transfer cartridge includes a syringe barrel disposed within the cartridge cavity, and a handle that extends from the front face over the opening. The syringe barrel can be visibly exposed on a side of the handle. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.
