Margin extension device and method
A margin extension device and method are disclosed herein. The margin extension device can be used for ablating one or several cancer cells and can include a contact member and a plurality of electrodes. The contact member can be electrically conductive, and can electrically connect the electrodes. The margin extension device can further include one or several leads that connect the electrodes of the margin extension device to a treatment controller. The treatment controller can include a pulse generator that can generate one or several electrical pulses that generate one or several electrical fields in tissue proximate to the margin extension device.
High-efficiency, directional microwave ablation antenna
An electrosurgical device (10) operable to deliver microwave energy to cause targeted tissue ablation is provided. The electrosurgical device (10) comprises an antenna (26), a reflector (30), and a dielectric material (34) disposed therebetween. The selection of the dielectric material (30) and the relative positioning of the antenna (26) and the reflector (30) provide impedance matching between the antenna (26) and a transmission line (12) so as to minimize heating along the length of the device (10) during use.
Endoscopic full thickness resection device
The present disclosure relates generally to devices and methods for full thickness tissue resection of an organ (e.g., intestine). In some embodiments, a device includes a conduit, and a plurality of arms rotatably coupled to the conduit. Each of the plurality of arms is movable between a collapsed position and an expanded position, wherein the plurality of arms extends radially outward from the conduit in the expanded position. The device may further include an electrocautery wire coupled to each of the plurality of arms, the electrocautery wire positioned directly adjacent an exterior tissue wall when the plurality of arms is in the expanded position. The device may be advanced back in towards a lumen of the organ until a targeted section of tissue is cut by the electrocautery wire and removed.
MICROWAVE TREATMENT DEVICES AND METHODS
The present invention discloses medical systems and methods adapted for the delivery of various medical components such as microwave antennas within or on a body for performing one or more medical procedures. Several embodiments herein disclose medical systems comprising a combination of one or more medical components and one or more elongate steerable or non-steerable arms that are adapted to mechanically manipulate the one or more medical components. Several embodiments of microwave antennas are disclosed that comprise an additional diagnostic or therapeutic modality located on or in the vicinity of the microwave antennas.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT FOR COLORECTAL POLYP REMOVAL
Disclosed are various embodiments of a surgical instrument for colorectal polyp removal. In various embodiment, the surgical instrument has an elongate flexible tubular sheath having a proximal end and a distal end, a snare having a loop and controlled by a pair of wires, and a biopsy forceps having a pair of jaws sized to fit within the loop of the snare. Both the biopsy forceps and the snare are routed through the elongate flexible tubular sheath so that the loop of the snare and the pair of jaws exit the distal end of the elongate flexible tubular sheath.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR APPLYING CONTROLLED DOSAGE LIGHT THERAPY FOR TREATMENT OF BODY TISSUE
A method for treating pelvic pain and or chronic prostatitis, and or overactive bladder symptoms. Energy, preferably in the form of infrared or near infrared wavelength light may be applied across the vaginal tissue or rectal tissue to treat pelvic pain and or chronic prostatitis. This method of energy application may cause local heating, alteration of cellular respiration, and alterations of local blood flow resulting in decreased muscle spasm, and or decreased pain, and or decreased overactive bladder symptoms. The method of the present invention may effectively treat chronic pelvic pain and or the symptoms of chronic prostatitis. The method of the invention may combine massaging of tissue with irradiation of same.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR APPLYING CONTROLLED DOSAGE LIGHT THERAPY FOR TREATMENT OF BODY TISSUE
Methods for improving transmucosal delivery of Photobiomodulation to the body of a patient. Near infrared energy can be delivered through natural body openings in order to deliver therapeutic irradiance to deep tissues and organs. The use of a double sheath mechanism of energy introduction may decrease the discomfort associated with the present method of delivery among those patients with allodynia or severe hyperalgesia. Energy device power settings can be further optimized to improve outcomes and decrease the incidence of known adverse events. Furthermore, the availability of intuitive large screen user interfaces provides a unique opportunity to gather real-time, real-world patient experience (RWE) data.
DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR THE TREATMENT OF ABNORMAL TISSUE
Devices, systems and methods are provided to treat damaged, diseased, abnormal, obstructive, cancerous or undesired tissue (e.g. a tumor, a benign tumor, a malignant tumor, a cyst, or an area of diseased tissue, etc) by delivering specialized pulsed electric field (PEF) energy to target tissue areas. The energy is delivered in a manner so as to be non-thermal (i.e. below a threshold for causing thermal ablation). Consequently, when extracellular matrices present, the extracellular matrices are preserved, and the targeted tissue maintains its structural architecture including blood vessels and lymphatics. Thus, sensitive structures, such as biological lumens, blood vessels, nerves, etc, are preserved which are critical to maintaining the integrity and functionality of the tissue. The energy is delivered with the use of systems and devices advantageously designed for superior access to target tissue throughout the body, particularly in locations previously considered inaccessible to percutaneous approaches.
Endoluminal treatment method and associated surgical assembly including tissue occlusion device
A surgical instrument includes a hollow member having a sidewall provided with a window and a closure member movably connected to the hollow member for alternately covering and uncovering the window. The hollow member has a first clamping surface along an edge of the window, while the closure member has a second clamping surface opposing the first clamping surface and disposable substantially adjacent thereto in a clamping or closure configuration of the instrument. The instrument additionally comprises a tissue occlusion component mounted to at least one of the hollow member and the closure member for acting on tissues gripped between the first clamping surface and the second clamping surface, to couple the tissues to each other.
