Method and system for measuring the dynamic response of a structure during a machining process
09696710 · 2017-07-04 · ·

A machine implement includes sensors that measure a force imparted by the machine implement to a structure during a machining process. A sensor array coupled to the structure measures the vibrational response of the structure to the imparted force. Analysis software compares the imparted force to the vibrational response to generate a transfer function for the structure. Based on the transfer function, a tool-path of the machine implement may be adjusted such that the resulting structure has precise vibrational characteristics that substantially comply with a set of design goals for the structure.

Wireless Appliance Vibration Sensor Monitor And Method
20170162028 · 2017-06-08 ·

The apparatus disclosed is a wireless vibration sensor monitor and recorder along with the associated system and method of use. The apparatus contains a digital accelerometer that operates off six axes. The apparatus may also include features such as a temperature sensor and ambient light sensor. The system actively monitors time and battery voltage level, as well as records information pertinent to the health of the apparatus. Once affixed to an appliance or piece of machinery, the apparatus monitors the duration of the cycle and the vibrations produced to compile a cycle profile. Once the apparatus has determined the cycle or predetermined period to be complete, a notification is sent to a remote user. This signal may be received by any compatible Bluetooth low energy device.

Methods and apparatus to use vibration data to determine a condition of a process control device are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a vibration monitoring circuit to: collect first vibration data associated with a process control device during calibration of the process control device; calculate an operating threshold of the process control device based on the first vibration data; collect usage information associated with the process control device, the usage information indicative of a remaining portion of useful life associated with the process control device; adjust the operating threshold based on the usage information, the adjusted operating threshold reflective of the remaining portion of useful life associated with the process control device; and determine a condition of the process control device if second vibration data associated with the process control device collected after the calibration exceeds the adjusted operating threshold.
