ENERGY TREATMENT INSTRUMENT
An energy treatment instrument includes: a grip configured to be gripped by an operator; a transducer configured to generate ultrasound vibrations according to a supplied electric power; a first ultrasound terminal that is arranged in the transducer; a first high-frequency terminal that is arranged in the grip; and a base unit that is arranged in the grip. The base unit includes a second ultrasound terminal configured to electrically connect the first ultrasound terminal and a cable electrically connected to a control device outside the energy treatment instrument, by abutting on the first ultrasound terminal; and a second high-frequency terminal configured to electrically connect the first high-frequency terminal and a cable electrically connected to the control device outside the energy treatment instrument, by abutting on the first high-frequency terminal.
Injectate delivery devices, systems and methods
An injectate delivery device for expanding tissue is provided. The injectate delivery device comprises: at least one fluid delivery tube comprising a proximal end, a distal end and a lumen therebetween; at least one fluid delivery element in fluid communication with the at least one fluid delivery tube lumen; a radially expanding element comprising the at least one fluid delivery element; a supply of vacuum constructed and arranged to cause tissue to tend toward the at least one fluid delivery element; and at least one control constructed and arranged to perform a function. The at least one control can be constructed and arranged to expand the radially expandable element and activate the supply of vacuum. Systems and method of injectate delivery are also provided.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MANAGING FLUID AND SUCTION IN ELECTROSURGICAL SYSTEMS
Aspects of the present disclosure include control systems of an electrosurgical system for managing the flow of fluid, such as saline, and rates of aspiration or suction, in response to various states of conditions at a surgical site. The control system(s) may monitor and adjust to impedance at the surgical site, temperature of the surgical tissue, and/or RF current of electrodes, and may account for certain undesirable conditions, such as the electrodes sticking. The control systems may include various automatic sensing scenarios, while also allowing for several manual conditions.
Combination electrosurgical device
An electrosurgical device: forceps having: a first working arm, a second working arm, wherein the electrosurgical device has a first electrosurgical configuration where the first working arm and the second working arm are in an opposed position so that the forceps deliver a first therapy current that flows between the first working arm and the second working arm; and wherein the electrosurgical device has a second electrosurgical configuration when the first working arm, the second working arm, or both are repositionable relative to each other so that the first working arm is extended with respect to the second working arm or vice versa and a second therapy current is delivered from the first working arm to a remote electrode.
End effector for instrument with ultrasonic blade and bipolar clamp arm
An apparatus includes a body, a shaft assembly, and an end effector. The end effector includes an ultrasonic blade and a clamp arm assembly. The ultrasonic blade is in acoustic communication with an acoustic waveguide of the shaft assembly. The clamp arm assembly is pivotable toward and away from the ultrasonic blade. The clamp arm assembly includes a first electrode and a second electrode. The first and second electrodes are operable to cooperate to apply bipolar RF energy to tissue.
KNIFE LOCKOUT FOR ELECTROSURGICAL FORCEPS
An electrosurgical forceps includes first and second shafts configured to rotate about a pivot to move jaw members between an open position and a closed position. A knife deployment mechanism is operably coupled to a knife and is configured to move the knife between a retracted position and an extended position. A knife lockout is configured to move between a first position wherein the jaw members are in the open position and movement of the knife from the retracted position to the extended position is prevented, a second position wherein the jaw members are in the closed position and movement of the knife from the retracted position to the extended position is permitted, and a third position wherein the jaw members are in the closed position and movement of the knife from the retracted position to the extended position is prevented.
SMOKE MITIGATION ASSEMBLY FOR BIPOLAR PENCIL
An electrosurgical pencil includes a housing having proximal and distal ends, the proximal end adapted to connect to an energy source and the distal end adapted to receive an end effector assembly therein, the end effector assembly defining a surface area along a length thereof. An activation switch is operably associated with the housing and is configured to deliver electrosurgical energy to the end effector assembly upon actuation thereof. An air control valve is operatively coupled to the activation switch and is configured to simultaneously deliver a gas from a gas source to the surface area around the end effector upon actuation of the activation switch.
