METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FILTERING
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method and apparatus for filtering and surgical procedures. An exemplary apparatus includes an evacuation tube having a filter, a long axis and a hollow conduit extending through the long axis, the hollow conduit fluidly connecting a tube inlet and a tube outlet, the filter located within the hollow conduit operable to remove particles from a flow passing through the hollow conduit from the tube inlet to the tube outlet.
Medical instrument
A medical instrument comprising a device for activating or deactivating a function of the instrument. The device comprises first and second parts, which are each movable into an operative position relative to the other part to activate or deactivate a function of the instrument. A second control element for moving the second part into the operative position provides a control portion and comprises, for moving the first part into the operative position, a first control element which provides an additional control portion. The first control element can be moved in an opposite direction the direction from the second control element. Accordingly, the function is activated by moving a control element in a distal direction, and by moving another control element in a proximal direction. A deflection of force by one actuating element for actuating the first part or the second part in the opposite direction is not necessary.
Surgical instruments incorporating ultrasonic and electrosurgical functionality
A surgical instrument end effector assembly includes a first jaw member defining an insulative tissue-contacting surface and first and second electrically-conductive tissue-contacting surfaces, and a second jaw member positioned including an ultrasonic blade body and defining at least one electrically-conductive tissue-contacting surface. The first jaw member is movable relative to the second jaw member between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position to grasp tissue therebetween. The second jaw member is movable relative to the first jaw member between a first configuration, to facilitate transmission of ultrasonic energy to tissue grasped between the first and second jaw members, and a second configuration, to facilitate conduction of electrosurgical energy through tissue grasped between the first and second jaw members.
ELECTROSURGICAL NETWORK
An electrosurgical system comprising: a plurality of electrosurgical connection units, each electrosurgical connection unit comprising an input port connectable to an electrosurgical channel and an output port connectable to an electrosurgical instrument, the electrosurgical connection unit configured to connect the input port to the output port; an electrosurgical network comprising a plurality of electrosurgical links that connect the input ports of the electrosurgical connection units to an electrosurgical channel; and a control unit configured to: receive information from a device indicating that the device has detected an electrosurgical generator connected to the electrosurgical channel, the device being one of the electrosurgical connection units and an electrosurgical output device connected to the electrosurgical channel; determine a location of the electrosurgical generator in the electrosurgical network based on the received information; and transmit one or more control signals to the electrosurgical connection units and/or one or more electrosurgical output devices connected to the electrosurgical channel to cause the output port of a selected combination of electrosurgical connection units to be connected to the electrosurgical channel based on the determined location of the electrosurgical generator.
SEMICONDUCTOR LIGHT SOURCE HAIR REMOVAL DEVICE WITH OPTIMIZED HEAT DISSIPATION
Disclosed is a semiconductor light source hair removal device with optimized heat dissipation, comprising a housing (1), a hair removal assembly (2) fixed to the housing (1), a fan (4), a circuit board (5), and a control power board (6). The housing (1) is provided with an accommodating cavity for accommodating the fan (4), the circuit board (5) and the control power board (6). The hair removal assembly (2), the fan (4) and the control power board (6) are electrically connected to the circuit board (5). The housing (1) is provided with at least one heat dissipation port. The hair removal assembly (2) comprises a treatment head (20), a thermoelectric cooler (24), a light source chip (25) and a heat dissipation component (26). The heat dissipation component (26) comprises heat sink fins (261) and at least one heat pipe.
Surgical instrument with evacuation port and method
A surgical instrument includes a handle assembly, an elongated shaft, an end effector, and an evacuation port. The elongated shaft extends distally from the handle assembly and includes an outer wall. The end effector is coupled to a distal portion of the elongated shaft. The evacuation port is configured for fluid communication with a suction device. A portion of the evacuation port is disposed within the outer wall of the elongated shaft.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS INCORPORATING ULTRASONIC AND ELECTROSURGICAL FUNCTIONALITY
A surgical instrument end effector assembly includes a first jaw member defining an insulative tissue-contacting surface and first and second electrically-conductive tissue-contacting surfaces disposed on either side of the insulative tissue-contacting surface. A second jaw member includes an ultrasonic blade body positioned to oppose the insulative tissue-contacting surface of the first jaw member. The first jaw member is movable relative to the second jaw member between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position to apply a first grasping force to tissue disposed therebetween. A slider is movable, independent of the first jaw member, between a retracted position, wherein the slider is disposed proximally of the first and second jaw members, and an extended position, wherein the slider extends about the first jaw member and urges the first jaw member from the approximated position further towards the second jaw member to apply a second, greater grasping force to tissue.
METHODS AND DEVICES TO TREAT NASAL AIRWAYS
Methods and devices for treating nasal airways are provided. Such devices and methods may improve airflow through an internal and/or external nasal valve, and comprise the use of mechanical re-shaping, energy application and other treatments to modify the shape, structure, and/or air flow characteristics of an internal nasal valve, an external nasal valve or other nasal airways.
Electrosurgical apparatus with flexible shaft
An electrosurgical apparatus is provided including a housing, a flexible shaft, and a distal tip. The housing may further be coupled to an electrosurgical generator and gas supply. The distal tip of the electrosurgical apparatus may be grasped by a grasping tool, such that the orientation and position of the distal tip relative to the housing may be manipulated to achieve a plurality of positions. The electrosurgical apparatus provides electrosurgical energy and inert gas to an electrode within the distal tip of the electrosurgical apparatus to generate a plasma beam. In one aspect, the electrode is a retractable blade such that the electrosurgical apparatus can be used for mechanical and electrosurgical cutting during surgery when the electrode is in an extended position and for cold plasma applications during surgery when the electrode is in a retracted position.
ELECTROSURGICAL INSTRUMENT
A handheld electrosurgical instrument is disclosed, which comprises an upper lobe and a lower lobe, which join at and extend from a narrow neck region substantially perpendicular to one another. The instrument typically includes a surgical tool extending from a distal portion of the upper lobe. The tool may be modular, and the instrument may accommodate any of a plurality of different types and configurations of surgical tools.
