METHOD FOR CONTROLLING AN ENERGY MODULE OUTPUT
A method for controlling an output of an energy module of a modular energy system. The energy module can comprise a plurality of amplifiers configured to generate a drive signal at a frequency range and a plurality of ports coupled to the plurality of amplifiers. The method includes determining to which port of the plurality of ports the surgical instrument is connected, selectively coupling an amplifier of the plurality of amplifiers to the port of the plurality of ports to which the surgical instrument is connected, and controlling the amplifier to deliver the drive signal for driving the energy modality to the surgical instrument through the port.

Surgical instrument with dual mode end effector and compound lever with detents
A surgical instrument includes a body, an ultrasonic blade, a clamp arm assembly, and a detent assembly. The clamp arm assembly includes a clamp arm pivotably coupled with the body at a pivot assembly. The clamp arm is operable to compress tissue against the ultrasonic blade. The detent assembly is configured to provide tactile resistance to pivotal movement of the clamp arm relative to the body beyond a predefined pivot angle. The detent assembly is configured to permit pivotal movement of the clamp arm relative to the body beyond a predefined pivot angle upon application of a force sufficient to overcome the tactile resistance.
MICROWAVE APPLICATOR FOR UTERINE CERVIX
A microwave antenna apparatus comprises an electrically conductive ground element defining an aperture, an electrically conductive elongated element extending through the aperture and terminating at a distal end, and one or more dielectric elements. The one or more of the dielectric elements electrically insulate the elongated element and the ground element from one another. The microwave antenna apparatus may be configured for use in radiating microwave energy into surface tissue of a uterine cervix so as to provide a therapeutic effect in one or more regions of the uterine cervix, such as one or more regions of the cervix infected with human papillomavirus (HPV) and/or diagnosed with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) or so as to create the correct biological response in one or more such regions. The microwave antenna apparatus may be configured for localized non-ablative hyperthermia of the surface tissue of the uterine cervix, localized ablation of the surface tissue of the uterine cervix, and/or cauterisation of the surface tissue of the uterine cervix.
Display of alignment of staple cartridge to prior linear staple line
A surgical hub is disclosed. The surgical hub includes a processor and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor to receive image data from an image sensor, generate a first image based on the image data, display the first image on a surgical hub display coupled to the processor, receive a signal from a non-contact sensor, the signal indicative of a position of a surgical device, generate a second image based on the signal indicative of the position of the surgical device, and display the second image on the surgical hub display coupled to the processor.

A surgical instrument, has an end effector that includes an ultrasonic blade, and a clamp arm that moves relative to the ultrasonic blade from an opened position toward an intermediate position and a closed position. The clamp arm is offset from the ultrasonic blade to define a predetermined gap in the intermediate position between the opened position and the closed position. A clamp arm actuator connects to the clamp arm and moves from an opened configuration to a closed configuration to direct the clamp arm from the opened position toward the intermediate position and the closed position. A spacer connects with the clamp arm to inhibit movement of the clamp arm from the intermediate position toward the closed position for maintaining the predetermined gap between the clamp arm and the ultrasonic blade.
Methods for enhancing and modulating reversible and irreversible electroporation lesions by manipulating pulse waveforms
A ratio of reversible electroporation and irreversible electroporation may be controlled by selecting a symmetric waveform or asymmetric waveform to either minimize or enhance irreversible effects on cells in the target tissue. Combined reversible and irreversible electroporation includes inserting one or more therapeutic electrodes into a target tissue, introducing an electroporation compound into the target tissue, selecting a pulse waveform that is either 1) asymmetric bipolar that has positive and negative pulses with different durations, or 2) symmetric bipolar that has positive and negative pulses with the same duration, and delivering to the target tissue a series of electrical pulses having the selected pulse waveform.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS FOR PERFORMING TONSILLECTOMY, ADENOIDECTOMY, AND OTHER SURGICAL PROCEDURES
A surgical instrument includes a housing having a rounded barrel with a distal end and proximal end configured to seat within a palm of a user. A shaft extends from the distal end of the barrel and supports an end effector at a distal end thereof including first and second jaw members. A rotating assembly is disposed on the barrel and is actuatable to rotate the jaw members. A jaw actuation assembly is disposed on the barrel and is actuatable to move the jaw members between open and closed positions. An energy activation assembly is disposed on the barrel and is actuatable to supply electrosurgical energy to the jaw members. A knife actuation assembly is disposed on the barrel and is actuatable to cut tissue disposed between the jaw members.
Electrosurgical device
An improved surgical instrument having an end effector mounted on the end of an elongate shaft extending from a handle. The end-effector is capable of different operations, including grasping, cutting, and sealing and/or coagulating tissue, and one of the operations is controlled by a trigger mechanism contained within the handle. In some embodiments, the end effector includes a pair of curved jaw members and blade assembly having a cutting blade at its distal end. The trigger mechanism drives blade assembly longitudinally within the elongate shaft such that the cutting blade protrudes between the jaw members. To help the trigger mechanism push the blade assembly around the curved jaws, the distal end of blade has a graduated flexibility that easily bends to the shape of the jaw members. The distal end of the blade may also be provided with a low friction coating so that it can easily slide between the jaw members.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT WITH DUAL MODE END EFFECTOR AND MODULAR CLAMP ARM ASSEMBLY
A first subassembly includes a body and an ultrasonic blade. A second subassembly is configured to removably couple with the first subassembly and includes a first clamp arm and a first clamp arm actuator. The first clamp arm is configured to be located on a first side of the longitudinal axis of the body, and the first clamp arm actuator is configured to be located on a second side of the longitudinal axis, when the second subassembly is coupled with the first subassembly. The third subassembly is similar to the second subassembly except that the second clamp arm of the third subassembly is configured to be located on the second side of the longitudinal axis of the body when the third subassembly is coupled with the first subassembly.
