ENERGY DELIVERY DEVICES WITH FLEXIBLE AND ADJUSTABLE TIPS
The present invention relates to comprehensive systems, devices and methods for delivering energy to tissue for a wide variety of applications, including medical procedures (e.g., tissue ablation, resection, cautery, vascular thrombosis, treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and dysrhythmias, electrosurgery, tissue harvest, etc.). In particular, systems, devices, and methods are provided for treating a tissue region (e.g., a tumor) through application of energy using energy delivery devices with flexible and adjustable tips.
Apparatus and methods to modulate bladder function
Apparatus and methods are provided to concentrate energy delivery in non-superficial target tissue within a trigone region of a human bladder wall to modulate bladder function.
Electrosurgical snare
The disclosure relates to three enhancements for a surgical snare: an electrosurgical snare in which the loop of snare wire extends from an energy transfer surface which can act both as a physical reaction surface for mechanical cutting using the snare and as a region for emitting electromagnetic energy; a surgical snare having a snare wire having a first end connected to a movable boss that is slidably mounted on a coaxial cable; and a surgical snare having an end cap with a distally facing reaction surface and a pair of channels for guiding a snare wire, where the distally facing reaction surface is arranged to contact the retractable loop when fully retracted.

ENERGY DELIVERY SYSTEMS AND USES THEREOF
Provided herein are devices, systems, and methods for delivering energy to tissue for a wide variety of applications, including medical procedures (e.g., tissue ablation, resection, cautery, vascular thrombosis, treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and dysrhythmias, electrosurgery, tissue harvest, etc.). In certain embodiments, devices, systems, and methods are provided for delivering energy to difficult to access tissue regions (e.g. central or peripheral lung tissues), and/or reducing the amount of undesired heat given off during energy delivery.
Microwave ablation probe
Examples of a probe for microwave ablation are disclosed. The probe comprises a feed coaxial cable and an antenna that has a cylindrical outer housing with a predetermined diameter and a predetermined length defining a cavity therein and a radiating conductor positioned within the cavity with a matching stepped portion. The antenna further comprises a dielectric material placed in the cavity between the radiating conductor and the outer housing of the antenna to increase the mechanical strength of the probe as well as to improve the power coupling to the tissue to be ablated. The design of the coaxial cavity of the antenna with radiating conductor with a stepped portion fitted into dielectric materials increases antenna's mechanical strength to withstand higher temperatures and reduces an energy reflected back to the feed coaxial cable due to a good impedance match between the antenna and the feed cable such that antennas with smaller length can be used to fit curved paths.
Systems and methods for lung treatments and post-treatment sealing of lungs
A surgical system includes a stylus having a proximal end portion and distal end portion configured to penetrate lung tissue. The stylus may be movable between a first configuration and a second configuration within lung tissue. The surgical system may include a surgical instrument configured to treat lung tissue, a sealant configured to seal lung tissue, and an introducer configured for insertion into lung tissue. The introducer may have a proximal end portion and a distal end portion and may define a lumen therethrough configured to separately receive the stylus, the surgical instrument, and the sealant.
ELECTROSURGICAL APPARATUS AND METHOD
An electrosurgical apparatus and method for performing thermal treatment in the gastrointestinal tract, e.g. to ablate duodenal mucosal tissue. The apparatus comprises an instrument having a flexible cable and an applicator suitable for use with a gastroscope, which can be deployed within a patient to delivery energy in a targeted or otherwise controllable manner. The applicator can deliver microwave energy by radiation. The direct and depth-limited nature of microwave energy can be make it more effective than treatments that rely on thermal conduction. The applicator may include a radially extendable portion arranged to move an microwave energy delivery structure into contact with duodenal mucosal tissue at the treatment region. The applicator may comprise any of a balloon, bipolar radiator, movable paddle, and rotatable roller element.

Tumor ablation system
A system for use in tumor ablation. The tumor ablation system includes a microwave antenna which has a channel along the length thereof. There are two ports proximate the proximal end of the microwave antenna. The first port is an energy port configured to connect the antenna to an energy source. The second port is a fluid port configured to connect the channel to a fluid delivery mechanism. The system also includes an inflatable balloon configured to be attached to a distal end of the antenna. The channel permits fluid access from the fluid port to an interior of the balloon for inflation thereof.
