DENTAL IMPLANTATION ASSESSMENT METHOD FOR IMPLANT DENTISTRY

A dental implantation assessment method includes the steps of creating a 3D teeth model; setting up a reference line, creating a health status table, and forming a multi-level frame model for an implant placement position on the teeth model; dividing each level of the frame model into a centered implant module and multiple surrounding test modules; dividing each test module into multiple assessment zones, and combining the latter with the health status table; selecting and placing a dental implant model in the frame model, and defining one assessment zone in each test module that contacts with a periphery of the dental implant model as a selected zone; and lastly, computing assessment values assigned to the selected zones to determine an object type of the dental implant model. A dentist can decide an optimal dental implant through dental implant model size selection and implantation simulation to ensure successful dental implant surgery.

Techniques for patient-specific morphing of virtual boundaries

Systems, methods, software and techniques are disclosed for morphing a generic virtual boundary into a patient-specific virtual boundary for an anatomical model. The generic virtual boundary comprises one or more morphable faces. An intersection of the generic virtual boundary and the anatomical model is computed to define a cross-sectional contour of the anatomical model. One or more faces of the generic virtual boundary are morphed to conform to the cross-sectional contour of the anatomical model to produce the patient-specific virtual boundary. In some cases, the morphed faces are spaced apart from the cross-sectional contour by an offset distance that accounts for a geometric feature of a surgical tool.

Mechanical modules of catheters for sensor fusion processes

Systems and methods are described for implementing a catheter model to estimate shape of a deformable catheter in a three-dimensional space. The catheter model includes two or more model segments that correspond to two or more segments of the deformable catheter. Each model segment includes a length and location of model electrode(s) and/or model magnetic sensor(s) corresponding electrodes and/or magnetic sensors of the deformable catheter. Variable shape parameter define a curvature of the segment. Varying the shape parameters generates a plurality of potential catheter shapes. In conjunction with generating the potential catheter shapes, impedance and/or magnetic responses (e.g., measured responses) are obtained for the physical electrodes and/or physical magnetic sensors of the deformable catheter. Using a selected one (e.g., most likely) of the potential catheter shapes and the measured responses, the shape parameters are updated and a catheter shape is generated and displayed.

Alignment precision

Alignment precision technology, in which a system accesses image data of a bone to which a reference marker array is fixed. The system generates a three-dimensional representation of the bone and the reference markers, defines a coordinate system for the three-dimensional representation, and determines locations of the reference markers relative to the coordinate system. The system accesses intra-operative image data that includes the bone and a mobile marker array that is attached to an instrument used in a surgical procedure. The system co-registers the intra-operative image data with the three-dimensional representation by matching the reference markers included in the intra-operative image data to the locations of the reference markers. The system determines locations of the mobile markers in the co-registered image and determines a three-dimensional spatial position and orientation of the instrument relative to the bone.

Displaying a virtual model of a planned instrument attachment to ensure correct selection of physical instrument attachment

A virtual model a planned instrument attachment can be provided to ensure correct selection of a physical instrument attachment. An XR headset controller can generate a shape and a pose of the virtual model of the planned instrument attachment based on predetermined information associated with the planned instrument attachment and based on a pose of an instrument relative to the XR headset. An XR headset can display the virtual model on a see-through display screen of the XR headset that is configured to allow at least a portion of a real-world scene to pass therethrough.

A system and method for providing enhanced information to a surgeon is described. A three-dimensional reconstruction of a patient's anatomical structure selected for surgery and a representation of a surgical treatment apparatus are rendered on a display device. At least one attachment metric for a proposed attachment between the surgical treatment apparatus and the patient's anatomical structure is calculated using the three-dimensional position of the surgical treatment apparatus relative to the patient's anatomical structure. And, an indication of the attachment metric is rendered on the display device.
