A system and method for identifying and digitally displaying a femoral implant during hip revision surgery to guide a surgeon in detaching the femoral implant from the femur. Some embodiments include digitally registering a portion of the exposed femoral implant to create a representative point set. The system then digitally overlays a medical image of the implant and/or a 3-dimensional model of the femoral implant. Some embodiments further include a surgical tracking system configured to track a surgical cutting tool. Moreover, the system visually illustrates the cutting path of the surgical tool to convey to the surgeon where the surgeon has already cut and where the surgeon needs to cut in order to fully detach the femoral implant from the bone.

ULTRASONIC ROBOTIC SURGICAL NAVIGATION

Surgical robot systems, anatomical structure tracker apparatuses, and US transducer apparatuses are disclosed. A surgical robot system includes a robot, a US transducer, and at least one processor. The robot includes a robot base, a robot arm coupled to the robot base, and an end-effector coupled to the robot arm. The end-effector is configured to guide movement of a surgical instrument. The US transducer is coupled to the end-effector and operative to output US imaging data of anatomical structure proximately located to the end-effector. The least one processor is operative to obtain an image volume for the patient and to track pose of the end-effector relative to anatomical structure captured in the image volume based on the US imaging data.

Digital image analysis for robotic installation of surgical implants

Computer-implemented digital image analysis methods, apparatuses, and systems for robotic installation of surgical implants are disclosed. A disclosed apparatus plans a route within an anatomy of a patient from an incision site to a surgical implant site for robotic installation of a surgical implant. The apparatus uses digital imaging data to identify less-invasive installation paths and determine the dimensions of the surgical implant components being used. The apparatus segments the surgical implant into surgical implant subcomponents and modifies the surgical implant subcomponents, such that they can be inserted using the identified less-invasive installation paths.

Robotic surgical system for insertion of surgical implants

Methods, apparatuses, and systems for robotic insertion of a screw, a rod, or another component of a surgical implant into a patient are disclosed. Clinical data from previous surgical procedures or information received from a supervising surgeon can be leveraged to minimize the risk of harm to the patient and improve outcomes. The methods disclosed thus provide more precise placement of implanted surgical components and implants.

A computer specific system for receiving a plurality of medical imaging specific 3D patient specific data sets from different 3D data sources, for a patient receiving reconstructive surgery, locating and applying a plurality of landmarks to each data set, and performing an overlay analysis procedure that aligns the 3D data sets from the different 3D data sources to create a 3D medical image representation of the patient's tissue. The 3D representation can be used to create 3D models for use by surgeons to perform reconstructive surgical procedures.

Systems and methods for improved visual prosthetic and orthodontic treatment planning are provided herein. In some aspects, a method for preparing a tooth of a patient is disclosed. The method may comprise building a model of a dentition of the patient including a model of the initial shape of tooth. The method may also include determining a final prepared shape of the tooth. In some aspects, the method may also include generating a treatment plan comprising a plurality of steps to modify the initial shape of the tooth to the final prepared shape of the tooth. The method may also include rendering visualizations for the plurality of steps of the treatment plan. The visualizations may depict the removal of tooth material to modify the initial shape of the tooth to the final prepared shape of the tooth.

Visualization systems using structured light

A visualization system including multiple light sources, an image sensor configured to detect imaging data from the multiple light sources, and a control circuit is disclosed. At least one of the light sources is configured to emit a pattern of structured light. The control circuit is configured to receive the imaging data from the image sensor, generate a three-dimensional digital representation of the anatomical structure from the pattern of structured light detected by the imaging data, obtain metadata from the imaging data, overlay the metadata on the three-dimensional digital representation, receive updated imaging data from the image sensor, and generate an updated three-dimensional digital representation of the anatomical structure based on the updated imaging data. The visualization system can be communicatively coupled to a situational awareness module configured to determine a surgical scenario based on input signals from multiple surgical devices.
