Mobile device for viewing of dental treatment outcomes
A mobile computing device comprises an AR display, an image capture device that generates image data of a face of a viewer of the AR display, and a processing device. The processing device receives the image data; processes the image data to identify a position of a dental arch in the image data; determines a treatment outcome for the dental arch; generates a post-treatment image of the dental arch that shows the treatment outcome; generates updated image data comprising a superimposition of the post-treatment image of the dental arch over the received image data depicting the face of the viewer; and outputs the updated image data to the AR display, wherein the post-treatment image of the dental arch is superimposed over the dental arch in the received image data such that the post-treatment image is visible in the AR display rather than a true depiction of the dental arch.

Systems and methods for providing assistance during surgery
A method of performing a surgical procedure includes storing a software application on a memory associated with a computer, which when executed by a processor causes the software application to develop a model of a patient's anatomical structure, process images of the patient's anatomy, display the images of the patient's anatomy on a user interface associated with the computer, superimpose critical structures within the patient over the displayed images of the patient's anatomy, determine a location within the patient's body cavity where the images of the patient's anatomy were taken, and display the model of the patient's anatomical structure on the user interface, the displayed model indicating the determined location where the images of the patient's anatomy were taken.
Systems, instruments and methods for surgical navigation with verification feedback
Systems, instruments, and methods for surgical navigation with verification feedback are provided. The systems, instruments, and methods may be used to verify a trajectory of a surgical tool during a procedure. The systems, instruments, and methods may receive one or more captured images of an anatomical portion of a patient; execute a surgical plan to insert the surgical tool into the anatomical portion; receive sensor data collected from one or more sensors being inserted into the anatomical portion; determine whether the sensor data corresponds to the surgical plan; and send, in response to determining that the sensor data does not correspond to the surgical plan, an alert indicating that the surgical tool is not being inserted according to the surgical plan. The one or more sensors may be attached to the surgical tool.
PROVIDING FEEDBACK ON A TREATMENT OPERATION PERFORMED ON A BODY PART OF A SUBJECT
According to an aspect, there is provided an apparatus for use with a treatment device for providing feedback to a user on a treatment operation performed on a body part of a subject, wherein the treatment device is configured to apply light pulses to skin of the body part to perform the treatment operation, wherein a light pulse applied to the skin treats an area of the skin. The apparatus comprises a processing unit configured to receive a first measurement signal from a first sensor, the first measurement signal comprising information about positions and/or movements of the treatment device over time; for a light pulse previously applied by the treatment device to the body part during the treatment operation, process the first measurement signal to estimate a previous treatment position as a position of the treatment device relative to the body part when the light pulse was generated; for the previously applied light pulse and based on the estimated previous treatment position, estimate a previous treatment area for the light pulse corresponding to the area of skin of the body part that the light pulse was applied to when the treatment device was at the previous treatment position; process the first measurement signal to estimate a current position of the treatment device relative to the body part; based on the estimated current position of the treatment device, estimate a current treatment area corresponding to an area of skin that the treatment device would apply a light pulse to while in the current position; and generate a feedback control signal for a feedback unit, wherein the feedback control signal is configured to cause the feedback unit to generate feedback indicating whether the current treatment area corresponds, or substantially corresponds, to a previous treatment area.
Elastography for ligament characterization
Methods and system for characterizing ligament properties using elastography are disclosed. An ultrasound system capable of performing shear wave elasticity imaging and/or supersonic shear imaging may retrieve one or more images from a proposed surgical site. The one or more images may be provided to a surgical planning system that identifies one or more properties of ligaments proximate to the surgical site. Musculoskeletal simulations may be performed using the identified properties to preoperatively identify a surgical plan. Preoperative identification of a surgical plan may enable a surgeon to select from more fine-tuning options for a joint replacement than conventional systems.
Active distal tip drive
A method and system of correcting alignment of catheter relative to a target including receiving signals from an inertial measurement unit located at a distal end of a catheter, determining movement of the distal end of the catheter caused by physiological forces, receiving images depicting the distal end of the catheter and the target, identifying the distal end of the catheter and the target in the images, determining an orientation of the distal end of the catheter relative to the target and articulating the distal tip of the catheter in response to the detected movement to achieve and maintain an orientation towards the target such that a tool extended from an opening at the distal end of the catheter would intersect the target.
