HEAD STABILIZATION DEVICE WITH DETACHABLE TORQUE APPLICATOR

A head stabilization device includes a stabilization assembly and an applicator to control an amount of force that a stabilization feature applies to the head of the patient. The applicator includes a torque control feature that ensures a desired torque setting is not exceeding during use. The applicator can be detached from the remainder of the system such that the head stabilization device is usable without having a connected torque controlling feature or structures. The applicator in one version controls torque by adjusting a bending length of a pair of arms that extend within the applicator.

IMPLANT BASED PLANNING, DIGITIZING, AND REGISTRATION FOR TOTAL JOINT ARTHROPLASTY

A method for registering one or more surfaces associated with a bone for implant revision procedures includes a digitizer used to digitize surface points on remaining cement, bone surfaces, or both. The bone is adapted to hold a primary implant and from which the primary implant was removed. The position of the one or more surfaces associated with bone is registered by computing at least one of: a generic set of one or more planes using the surface points or a best match between a known implant geometry and the surface points. A computer-assisted surgical system is also provided to execute the method.

SURGICAL SYSTEM AND METHOD

A spinal construct includes a first member having a first thread form and an implant cavity configured for disposal of the spinal implant. A second member is engageable with a spinal implant and includes a second thread form configured for engagement with the first thread form. A gauge is coupled to the second member. The gauge is configured to measure a force between the second member and the spinal implant when the second member is engaged with the first member. The second thread form is timed with the first thread form to position the gauge in a selected orientation relative to the spinal implant. Systems and methods are disclosed.

MODULAR SET SCREW DESIGN FOR HOUSING MICROELECTRONICS

A load sensing assembly for a spinal implant is disclosed. The load sensing assembly may include: a set screw having a drive interface, a lower cavity for receiving a cover, the cover including a protrusion that may engage with an anchoring member. The load sensing assembly may further include an antenna, and at least one sensor having an integrated circuit in communication with the antenna. In some embodiments, the integrated circuit is positioned within a sealed cavity of the set screw. In some embodiments, a connecting wire extends through a through hole of the set screw and into the sealed cavity to connect the antenna with the at least one sensor. In some embodiments, the cap is welded to the set screw, the through hole is filled with an insulative material, and the sealed cavity of the set screw is hermitically sealed.

Am electronic drill guidance system includes an arm unit and a drill unit. The arm unit is attachable to a C-Arm and the drill unit is attachable to a surgical drill. The arm unit sends target angular information to the drill unit. The drill unit determines whether the surgical drill is in an appropriate positon based on the received target information and measured angular position of the drill.

Medical or dental device for determining the quality of a bone

A medical or dental device for determining a bone's quality by cutting a thread into the bone with a rotating threaded element comprises a control unit having a measurement circuit configured: (i) to determine values of the motor current via a first electrical contact device with which the motor drive is supplied for rotational drive of the threaded element that can be connected to the motor drive, the current values being a measure of the bone's quality; (ii) to monitor and/or to determine the penetration depth of the threaded element into the bone, and (iii) to generate measurement signals which show the relationship between the penetration depth and the determined current values or parameters derived therefrom, and to transmit these signals to a display unit, which displays the relationship between the determined current values or parameters derived therefrom, in particular the bone's quality, and the penetration depth.

Calcified vessel identification

An ultrasonic device may include an ultrasonic system including a transducer coupled to an ultrasonic blade, A method of delivering energy to the device may include sensing a vessel contacting the blade, identifying that the vessel is calcified, and generating a warning. In some aspects, the method further includes disabling one or more activation functions of the blade. In another aspect, the method further includes generating a message to apply compression to the vessel for a predetermined period, disabling activation functions of the blade during compression, and enabling activation functions after the expiration of the compression period. In yet another aspect, the method includes applying a compressive clamp force to the calcified vessel by driving a clamp arm toward the blade, disabling activation functions of the blade during compression, and enabling the activation functions after adjusting the compressive force. An ultrasonic surgical instrument may effect the method.

Suture clip deployment devices

Disclosed herein are suture clip delivery devices that can be loaded with several flat, disk-shaped suture clips and can deploy the suture clips one after another onto respective sutures without reloading the device with additional suture clips. An exemplary device includes a handle portion with an actuation mechanism that is coupled to a shaft portion that holds and deploys the suture clips. The shaft portion includes a mandrel on which the suture clips are mounted and a retainer that restricts the suture clips from moving proximally when the actuation mechanism pulls the mandrel proximally, which causes a distal-most suture clip to slide off the mandrel and be deployed onto one or more suture. The mandrel and remaining suture clips can them move distally to prepare to deploy the next suture clip.
