Medical Device Insertion Apparatus, System and Method
An insertion device is disclosed. The insertion device includes a base portion, a top portion slidably connected to the base portion, an introduction needle, a catheter in slidable relation to the introduction needle, and a substantially cylindrical flash chamber, the flash chamber having an inlet in fluid communication with the introduction needle. The flash chamber is connected to the base portion, the top portion slidably engages with the flash chamber, and the catheter and the top portion slidably advance with respect to the introduction needle and the base portion.
Medical device
A medical device capable of adjusting, while a rotating expandable portion breaks an object, a breaking force of the expandable portion. The medical device for breaking a thrombus in a blood vessel includes a shaft portion, an expandable portion that is provided to the shaft portion, a fixing portion that fixes the expandable portion and the shaft portion, a slide portion that is fixed to the expandable portion and is slidable with the shaft portion, and an outer tube that houses therein the shaft portion, in which the slide portion is movable by being indirectly pressed by the outer tube, and the slide portion is relatively rotatable relative to the outer tube.
ROBOTIC CUTTING SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SURGICAL SAW BLADE CUTTING ON HARD TISSUE
A surgical system and method of operating the same include a manipulator with a base, a robotic arm coupled to the base, and a saw tool coupled to the robotic arm to perform a cut of a bone. A control system is coupled the manipulator and obtains data defining a cutting plane for the bone and a pre-determined depth of the bone to be cut by the saw tool along the cutting plane. The control system associates a virtual planar boundary with the bone along the cutting plane and controls the manipulator to autonomously align the saw tool to the cutting plane. The control system controls the manipulator to activate and autonomously move the saw tool along the cutting plane to perform the cut. Autonomous movement of the saw tool is constrained to remain within the virtual planar boundary and not exceed the pre-determined depth.
Multi-shield spinal access system
An access device for accessing an intervertebral disc having an outer shield comprising an access shield with a larger diameter (˜16-30 mm) that reaches from the skin down to the facet line, with an inner shield having a second smaller diameter (˜5-12 mm) extending past the access shield and reaches down to the disc level. This combines the benefits of the direct visual microsurgical/mini open approaches and the percutaneous, “ultra-MIS” techniques.
LAPAROSCOPIC STAPLER
The present invention relates to a laparoscopic stapler for suturing body tissue cut during laparoscopic surgery, and more particularly, to a laparoscopic stapler in which implant binding pins to be continuously fired can be correctly positioned using an implant alignment unit for aligning an implant assembly, and an implant assembly pressing member. Therefore, malfunctioning is prevented, and implant loading, transport, and discharge can proceed smoothly.
Control Of An Ultrasonic Handpiece
Systems and methods for controlling vibrations of an ultrasonic handpiece generate an AC drive signal applied to a transducer of the ultrasonic handpiece to vibrate a tip of the ultrasonic handpiece. A property relating to a stiffness of tissue being contacted by the vibrating tip is determined based on a measured voltage and a measured current of the AC drive signal. A target displacement for the tip is determined based on the tissue property, and the AC drive signal is adjusted to achieve the determined target displacement.
Applicator instruments with inverted handles and triggers, curved shafts, and visible orientation indicia
An applicator instrument for dispensing surgical fasteners includes a housing, a firing system moveable along a first axis, a handle extending upwardly from the housing along a second axis that defines an acute angle with the first axis, the handle having an upper free end that defines a top of the applicator instrument, a trigger coupled with the housing for activating the firing system, and an elongated shaft extending from the distal end of the housing, the elongated shaft having a proximal shaft section extending along the first axis and a distal shaft section that is oriented at an angle relative to the proximal shaft section for extending upwardly toward the top of the applicator instrument. The trigger is squeezed for dispensing surgical fasteners from the distal end of the elongated shaft. The applicator instrument has at least one visual indicator for indicating a proper orientation for the applicator instrument in which the upper free end of the handle is positioned above the housing.
HEMORRHOID BANDING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR BANDING HEMORRHOIDS USING THE SAME
A hemorrhoid banding device for the treatment of hemorrhoidal tissue, the hemorrhoid banding device comprising: a syringe comprising an extended tip, wherein the extended tip has a distal end; a plunger configured to be slidably received in the syringe and movable between (i) a proximal position, and (ii) a distal position; a deployment sheath comprising a distal end and a proximal end, wherein the deployment sheath is configured to slidably fit over the extended tip of the syringe and is configured to move between (i) a proximal position wherein the distal end of the deployment sheath is disposed proximal to the distal end of the extended tip of the syringe, and (ii) a distal position wherein the distal end of the deployment sheath is disposed distal to the distal end of the extended tip of the syringe; a lever comprising a proximal end and a distal end, with the distal end of the lever being hingedly mounted to the syringe; and a link comprising a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the proximal end of the link is hingedly mounted to the plunger and the distal end of the link is hingedly mounted to the proximal end of the lever; wherein the distal end of the link and the proximal end of the lever are displaced further from the syringe when the plunger is in its proximal position than when the plunger is in its distal position.
TRANSCATHETER VALVE LACERATION DEVICE AND METHOD
A transcatheter valve laceration device includes a leaflet support frame and a leaflet cutting assembly, both of which are movably mounted on a guiding structure and movable between contracted and expanded orientations. In the expanded orientation, a blade protector of the leaflet support frame is positioned over a cutting element of the leaflet cutting assembly.

Systems and methods for preventing the seeding of cancerous cells during morcellation of a tissue specimen inside a patient's body and removal of the tissue specimen from inside the patient through a minimally-invasive body opening to outside the patient are provided. One system includes a cut-resistant tissue guard removably insertable into a containment bag. The tissue specimen is isolated and contained within the containment bag and the guard is configured to protect the containment bag and surrounding tissue from incidental contact with sharp instrumentation used during morcellation and extraction of the tissue specimen. The guard is adjustable for easy insertion and removal and configured to securely anchor to the body opening. Protection-focused and containment-based systems for tissue removal are provided that enable minimally invasive procedures to be performed safely and efficiently.
