HYBRID CATHETER FOR VASCULAR INTERVENTION
A catheter for debulking of an undesired deposit from an inner surface of at least one of a blood vessel wall and a stent located in a blood vessel, the catheter having a tip section comprising: circumferentially-directed laser optics; and a circular-action cutter, wherein said circumferentially-directed laser optics is configured to transmit laser radiation for modifying an area of the undesired deposit thereby preparing said area for penetration of said cutter, wherein said cutter is configured to cut through said modified area and thereby debulk at least a part of the undesired deposit. In addition, a catheter for pacemaker and ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) lead extraction is disclosed.
ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY MAPPING AND VISUALIZATION SYSTEM
A system may comprise a first catheter having a first steerable segment and a second catheter disposed within the first catheter. The second catheter may have a second steerable segment. The system may also comprise an imaging element supported at a distal end of the second catheter, a coil reference sensor supported at a distal portion of the second catheter, and a processor in electrical communication with the coil reference sensor. The processor may be configured to determine a position of a distal portion of the first catheter with reference to the coil reference sensor.
System for determining blood flow
The invention relates to a system for determining blood flow within a blood vessel (18). A fluid infusion unit (4, 10, 11) continuously infuses a fluid into the blood vessel, and a temperature values determining unit (14, 21) determines simultaneously a first temperature value at a first location and a second temperature value at a second location such that the first temperature value is indicative of the temperature of the fluid and the second temperature value is indicative of the temperature of a mixture of the fluid and the blood. The blood flow is determined based on the measured first and second temperature values and the infusion rate. This kind of determining the blood flow leads to an increased accuracy and is less cumbersome than known techniques requiring a movement of a temperature sensor for measuring temperatures at different locations.
Registration of a surgical image acquisition device using contour signatures
Registration of a surgical image acquisition device (e.g. an endoscope) using preoperative and live contour signatures of an anatomical object is described. A control unit includes a processor configured to compare the real-time contour signature to the database of preoperative contour signatures of the anatomical object to generate a group of potential contour signature matches for selection of a final contour match. Registration of an image acquisition device to the surgical site is realized based upon an orientation corresponding to the selected final contour signature match.
Robotic surgery system including position sensors using Fiber Bragg Gratings
A method for determining a shape of a lumen in an anatomical structure comprises reading information from a plurality of strain sensors disposed substantially along a length of a flexible medical device when the flexible medical device is positioned in the lumen. When the flexible medical device is positioned in the lumen, the flexible medical device conforms to the shape of the lumen. The method further comprises computationally determining, by a processing system, the shape of the lumen based on the information from the plurality of strain sensors.
TWO-DIMENSIONAL IMAGE REGISTRATION
The present disclosure relates to systems, devices, and methods to augment a two-dimensional image.
MICRO-MOLDED ANAMORPHIC REFLECTOR LENS FOR IMAGE GUIDED THERAPEUTIC/DIAGNOSTIC CATHETERS
A catheter system for optical coherence tomography includes an elongate catheter body, an optical fiber in the elongate catheter body, and an anamorphic lens assembly coupled with a distal end of the optical fiber. The optical fiber and the lens assembly are together configured to provide a common path for optical radiation reflected from a target and from a reference interface between the distal end of the optical fiber and the lens assembly.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR IMAGE GUIDED POST-NASAL NERVE ABLATION
Devices and methods for treating rhinitis are provided. An integrated therapy and imaging device is provided for single handheld use. The device may have a hollow elongated cannula, a therapeutic element coupled to a distal portion of the cannula, an imaging assembly coupled to the cannula to provide visualization of the therapeutic element, and an articulating region operably coupled to the imaging assembly to articulate the imaging assembly. The imaging assembly may be articulated so as to translate vertically, laterally, axially, and/or rotationally.
LIGHTING ARRANGEMENT FOR A MEDICAL IMAGING SYSTEM
A lighting arrangement for a medical imaging system having a cylindrical wall that forms a tunnel that receives a patient to be scanned. The lighting arrangement includes a transparent wall section formed in the wall, wherein the transparent wall section extends along a transparent portion of a wall circumference. The imaging system also includes a lighting device located adjacent an outer surface of the transparent wall section. The lighting device extends along a device portion of a wall circumference corresponding to the transparent portion wherein light emitted by the lighting device is transmitted through the transparent wall section in a direction orthogonal to a longitudinal axis of the tunnel to circumferentially illuminate the tunnel. In addition, a system status is indicated by a color of light emitted by the LEDs. Further, light emitted by the lighting device varies in intensity to indicate a changing count rate.
System for computation of object coordinates accounting for movement of a surgical site for spinal and other procedures
Aspects of the present disclosure relate to systems, devices and methods for performing a surgical step or surgical procedure for example with visual guidance using a head mounted display or with a surgical navigation system or with a surgical robot. A computer processor can be configured to determine the pose of a first vertebra with an attached first marker and a second vertebra with an attached second marker. The computer processor can be configured to determine the pose of at least one vertebra interposed or adjacent to the first and second vertebrae with attached markers, e.g. fiducial markers.
