SYSTEM AND METHOD TO DETECT AND TRACK SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS AND/OR SURGICAL MATERIAL
Certain embodiments may relate to apparatuses and methods for performing surgical procedures. For example, a method may comprise initiating detection and tracking of at least one surgical instrument (including associated surgical material) within a surgical area. The method may further comprise performing a surgical procedure with the at least one surgical instrument and material and ending detection and tracking of the at least one surgical instrument and material within the surgical area. The method may further comprise displaying at least one indication of location status of the at least one surgical instrument.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ENHANCING IMAGING DURING SURGICAL PROCEDURES
A surgical system is configured to augment the visualization environment presented to the surgeon by merging, in real-time, video feed and ultrasound imaging; tracking anatomy and instruments; identifying critical structures; generating and displaying 3-dimensional models of relevant anatomy; providing actionable guidance to the user; and enabling data collection and processing. The surgical system may include a tissue-marking surgical instrument configured to simultaneously identify critical structures beneath an organ surface and mark the organ surface at a location overlapping the identified critical structures.
Robotic surgical systems with independent roll, pitch, and yaw scaling
A robotic surgical system includes a linkage, an input device, and a processing unit. The linkage moveably supports a surgical tool relative to a base. The input device is rotatable about a first axis of rotation and a second axis of rotation. The processing unit is in communication with the input device and is operatively associated with the linkage to rotate the surgical tool about a first axis of movement based on a scaled rotation of the input device about the first axis of rotation by a first scaling factor and to rotate the surgical tool about a second axis of movement based on a scaled rotation of the input device about the second axis of rotation by a second scaling factor that is different from the first scaling factor.
Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for controlling aspects of a robotic surgical device and viewer adaptive stereoscopic display
A system includes a robotic arm, an autosteroscopic display, a user image capture device, an image processor, and a controller. The robotic arm is coupled to a patient image capture device. The autostereoscopic display is configured to display an image of a surgical site obtained from the patient image capture device. The image processor is configured to identify a location of at least part of a user in an image obtained from the user image capture device. The controller is configured to, in a first mode, adjust a three dimensional aspect of the image displayed on autostereoscopic display based on the identified location, and, in a second mode, move the robotic arm or instrument based on a relationship between the identified location and the surgical site image.
Surgical arm system with internally drive gear assemblies
Example embodiments relate to robotic arm assemblies. The robotic arm assembly includes forearm and upper arm segments. Upper arm segment includes distal motor. Robotic arm assembly includes elbow coupling joint assembly connecting distal end of upper arm segment to proximal end of forearm segment via a serial arrangement of proximal and distal elbow joints. Proximal elbow joint is located between upper arm segment and distal elbow joint. Distal elbow joint is located between proximal elbow joint and forearm segment. Proximal elbow joint forms proximal main elbow axis. Distal elbow joint forms distal main elbow axis. Elbow coupling joint assembly includes distal elbow joint subassembly connected to forearm segment. Elbow coupling joint assembly includes proximal elbow joint subassembly connecting upper arm segment to distal elbow joint subassembly. Proximal elbow joint subassembly is configured to be driven to rotate forearm segment relative to proximal main elbow axis.
Segmented control inputs for surgical robotic systems
A robotic surgical system for treating a patient is disclosed including a surgical tool movable relative to the patient and a user input device configured to remotely control the surgical tool. The surgical tool includes a shaft and an end effector. The user input device includes a base and a controller movable to effect a first control motion a second control motion. The controller includes a first accessibility mode and a second accessibility mode. The robotic surgical system further includes a control circuit configured to receive a motion control signal from the user input device, determine a controller accessibility mode, permit the first control motion in response to the motion control signal in the first accessibility mode and in the second accessibility mode and permit the second control motion in response to the motion control signal in the second accessibility mode but not the first accessibility mode.
Displaying a virtual model of a planned instrument attachment to ensure correct selection of physical instrument attachment
A virtual model a planned instrument attachment can be provided to ensure correct selection of a physical instrument attachment. An XR headset controller can generate a shape and a pose of the virtual model of the planned instrument attachment based on predetermined information associated with the planned instrument attachment and based on a pose of an instrument relative to the XR headset. An XR headset can display the virtual model on a see-through display screen of the XR headset that is configured to allow at least a portion of a real-world scene to pass therethrough.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR OPTICALLY DETECTING THE POSE OF AT LEAST ONE INSTRUMENT IN AN OPERATING THEATER
A system and a method for optically detecting a pose of at least one instrument in an operating theater are provided. The method includes determining pose information of the at least one instrument with an optical pose detection device of a surgical microscope or with a microscope-external optical pose detection device, determining whether the pose information is biunique or whether a biunique determination of the pose of the instrument is possible, and evaluating additional information for determining additional pose information, at least for a case where no biunique determination of the pose is possible.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR AIDING NON-CONTACT DETECTOR PLACEMENT IN NON-CONTACT PATIENT MONITORING SYSTEMS
Systems and methods for aiding a clinician in the proper positioning, placing or otherwise locating of a non-contact detector component of a non-contact patient monitoring system are described. The systems and methods may employ a targeting aid superimposed on a display screen component of the non-contact patient monitoring system, the targeting aid being designed to assist the clinician in properly locating the non-contact detector for proper and accurate functioning of the non-contact patient monitoring system. The systems and methods described herein may also employ a bendable mounting arm to which the non-contact detector is attached such that the non-contact detector can be easily moved into the proper location when used in conjunction with the targeting aid superimposed on the display.
