The assembly also includes a tracking unit including a processor tracking movement of the first and second manipulating elements relative to one another in a plurality of dimensions using the position and orientation signals.
X-RAY SCALING DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
Various systems, devices, and methods for facilitating efficient anatomical registration in surgical navigation are disclosed. Such systems and devices can have a data collection unit and a scaling device. The scaling device has a main body having an anatomical registration feature defined therein and at least one scaling marker pathway that is selectively oriented with respect to the anatomical registration feature to facilitate repeatable gross placement of a scaling marker relative to a selected anatomical feature. The scaling marker is selectively displaceable along a scaling marker pathway about and between a first end and a second end thereof to fine-tune scaling marker placement prior to image capture.
FEMORAL HEAD RESTORATION
A surgical instrument and method for assessing restoration of the femoral head centre is provided. The instrument comprising: a body having a first connector for attaching the body to a femoral part, and wherein the body defines a plurality of apertures therein, wherein each aperture corresponds to a respective femoral head centre arising from a respective corresponding femoral neck; and a gauge, wherein the gauge includes a pin at a first end and an arm extending transversely from the pin and wherein the pin is receivable in each of the plurality of apertures and the arm bears a scale indicating a distance from the pin. The approach seeks to provide a simple and/or easy to use approach to restoring the native femoral head position during a hip replacement surgical procedure.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PREPARING AND IMPLANTATION OF MEDICAL IMPLANTS
An apparatus for implanting a medical implant into bone includes: an implant having at least one predetermined natural frequency; and an instrument, comprising: a housing; a coupler carried by the housing and configured to be mechanically connected to a medical implant; and a forcing mechanism carried by the housing and operable to apply a cyclic excitation force at the predetermined natural frequency.
ROBOT-ASSISTED LASER SURGICAL SYSTEM
A system for working biological tissue, the system comprising: a tool comprising a laser operable to perform at least one action of work; positioning means for positioning the tool relative to the biological tissue to perform the at least one action of work; a controller; storage storing electronic program instructions for controlling the controller; and an input means; wherein the controller is operable, under control of the electronic program instructions, to: receive input via the input means; process the input and, on the basis of the processing, control the positioning means and the tool to work the biological tissue.
THREE-DIMENSIONAL MARKERS FOR AXIOGRAPHY AND INDIVIDUAL VALUES DETERMINATION
This invention concerns a set of three-dimensional markers that should be included in the scanning protocol. These markers together with the scanned information of the dental arches allow the transposition of the terminal hinge axis (for axiography) and the determination of the individual values of the condylar guidance angle and Bennett angle (for virtual articulators) to the virtual articulator. This invention involves a marker (4) which has three elements: upper element (1), intermediate element (2) and lower element (3). These components fit together forming a single piece (4), or the elements (19) (17) (18) respectively, in case of edentulous patients that does not allow the attachment, it should be used the spacer (16); and markers (5) (26), which are exclusives for individual values determination.
Device for guiding position of robot, method therefor, and system including the same
Proposed are a device for guiding the position of a robot, a method thereof, and a system including the same, the device including a surgical target matcher configured to derive a correlation of a position and a posture between a surgical target and a target marker attached to the surgical target, a robot matcher configured to derive a correlation of a position and a posture between a robot maker and a surgical robot based on an image including the robot marker mounted to the surgical robot and derive a correlation of a position and a posture between the robot marker and a preset work space, and a work space identifier configured to derive a correlation of a position and a posture between the surgical target and the work space based on information about the positions and postures of the target marker and the robot marker.
Tracking Marker Support Structure and Surface Registration Methods Employing the Same For Performing Navigated Surgical Procedures
Devices and methods are provide for facilitating registration and calibration of surface imaging systems. Tracking marker support structures are described that include one or more fiducial reference markers, where the tracking marker support structures are configured to be removably and securely attached to a skeletal region of a patient. Methods are provided in which a tracking marker support structure is attached to a skeletal region in a pre-selected orientation, thereby establishing an intraoperative reference direction associated with the intraoperative position of the patient, which is employed for guiding the initial registration between intraoperatively acquired surface data and volumetric image data. In other example embodiments, the tracking marker support structure may be employed for assessing the validity of a calibration transformation between a tracking system and a surface imaging system. Example methods are also provided to detect whether or not a tracking marker support structure has moved from its initial position during a procedure.
Versatile Tracking Arrays For A Navigation System And Methods Of Recovering Registration Using The Same
A navigation system includes a first and second tracker supports independently affixed to a rigid object and separated by a distance. A first plurality of trackable elements are secured to the first tracker support and a second plurality of trackable elements are secured to the second tracker support. A localizer tracks the trackable elements and controller(s) define a tracking arrangement to be tracked based on a combination of the first and second plurality of trackable elements. A geometry of the tracking arrangement is registered relative to the rigid object and the controller(s) track the rigid object by detecting the registered geometry. The controller(s) identify a condition wherein at least one trackable element has been displaced relative to the registered geometry, and in response, generate an instruction to a manipulator controller to interrupt operation of a robotic manipulator.
