Phacoemulsification surgical multi-use pack usage tracker system

A surgical cassette/pack usage tracker for tracking a number of uses for a cassette/pack to prohibit uses from exceeding a maximum amount. A usage tracker system engages with or scans a portion of the cassette/pack to determine the number of uses. In illustrative embodiments, an implement interacts with a film in the cassette after each use and determines remaining uses for the cassette/pack. In other embodiments, an implement interacts with a rotatable wheel that rotates with each use, the implement configured to permit the tracker to identify the number uses and determine remaining uses for the cassette/pack. When a maximum usage amount is reached, the tracker system may issue a warning, eject or reject the cassette/pack and/or disable the surgical device from further use.

Computer-assisted arthroplasty system

A computer-implemented method for creating an activity-optimized cutting guides for surgical procedures includes receiving one or more pre-operative images depicting one or more anatomical joints of a patient, and creating a three-dimensional anatomical model of the one or more anatomical joints based on the one or more pre-operative images. One or more patient-specific anatomical measurements are determined based on the three-dimensional anatomical model. A statistical model of joint performance is applied to the patient-specific anatomical measurements to identify one or more cut angles for performing a surgical procedure. A patient-specific cutting guide is created that comprises one or more apertures positioned based on the one or more cut angles.

Redundant communication channels and processing of imaging feeds

A computing system may use redundant communication pathways for communicating surgical imaging feed(s). The computing system may obtain multiple surgical video streams via multiple pathways. The multiple surgical video streams may include copies of the same video. The surgical video streams may be obtained, for example, from the same intra-body imaging feed, such as intra-body visual light feed. For example, a first video stream may be obtained via a communication pathway, and a second video stream may be obtained via another communication pathway. The computing system may display or send a surgical video stream for display. The computing system may whether the video stream being displayed has encountered any issues. Upon detecting an issue with the video stream being displayed, the computing system may display or send another obtained surgical video stream for display.

JOINT CALIBRATION FOR SURGICAL TOOL
20230117447 · 2023-04-20 ·

The disclosed embodiments relate to systems and methods for a surgical tool or a surgical robotic system. An end effector of the surgical tool is coupled to a tool driver. An actuator is driven by a motor of the tool driver and configured to drive a degree of freedom of the end effector. One or more processors are configured to receive a position command describing a desired position for the end effector, translate the desired position to a command for a joint associated with the end effector, calculate a compensation term to compensate for a source of hysteresis for backlash and/or compliance, and send a motor command for the motor coupled with the actuator based on the compensation term and the command for the end effector.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ENGAGEMENT OF A SURGICAL TOOL WITH ACTUATORS OF A TOOL DRIVE IN A SURGICAL ROBOTIC SYSTEM

A system and computerized method for detection of engagement of a surgical tool to a tool drive of a robotic arm of a surgical robotic system. The method may include activating an actuator of the tool drive to rotate a drive disk to be mechanically engaged with a tool disk in the surgical tool. One or more motor operating parameters of the actuator that is causing the rotation of the drive disk are monitored while activating the actuator. The method detects when the drive disk becomes mechanically engaged with the tool disk, based on the one or more monitored motor operating parameters. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

SURGICAL KIT INSPECTION SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR INSPECTING SURGICAL KITS HAVING PARTS OF DIFFERENT TYPES

Surgical kit inspection systems and methods are provided for inspecting surgical kits having parts of different types. The surgical kit inspection system comprises a vision unit including a first camera unit and a second camera unit to capture images of parts of a first type and a second type in each kit and to capture images of loose parts from each kit that are placed on a light surface. A robot supports the vision unit to move the first and second camera units relative to the parts in each surgical kit. One or more controllers obtain unique inspection instructions for each of the surgical kits to control inspection of each of the surgical kits and control movement of the robot and the vision unit accordingly to provide output indicating inspection results for each of the surgical kits.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR MULTI-STAGE ROBOTIC ASSISTED BONE PREPARATION FOR CEMENTLESS IMPLANTS
20230063760 · 2023-03-02 ·

Methods and systems for preparing a bone for a cementless joint implant are described. A first bone removal operation is performed using a burring device that has a first plurality of settings. The settings for the burring device are adjusted to a second plurality of settings, and a second bone removal operation is performed using the burring device. The adjustment to the settings may allow a surgeon to perform bulk bone removal in the first instance and fine bone removal in the second instance. The process of adjusting and performing subsequent bone removal operations may be performed any number of times during the bone preparation process. The adjustments to the settings may be received automatically from a computer-assisted surgical system, manually entered by a medical professional, or a combination of the two.

IMPROVED AND CASS ASSISTED OSTEOTOMIES
20230065449 · 2023-03-02 ·

Systems and methods for performing an osteotomy with robotic assistance are disclosed. The disclosed systems and methods includes receiving a three-dimensional model of a patient bone, receiving a surgical plan, determining, based on the three-dimensional model and the surgical plan, one or more corrective cuts to be made to the patient bone, and performing, using a tracked end effector interfaced to a robotic arm, the one or more corrective cuts. A surgeon may utilize software, tracking, robotics, and the like to plan and execute bone resection in complex and/or intricate shapes not previously possible.
