Dental handpiece
Described herein is a dental handpiece for the endodontic treatment of a root canal, including a chuck for attaching and holding an endodontic file, an electric motor having a shaft for driving the endodontic file, and a control unit for controlling the motor, which receives a stream of input data. While monitoring the stream of input data, the control unit determines the current absorbed by the electric motor, and controls the motor so that the file alternates the direction of rotation at a frequency of from 1 to 20 Hz between a first direction and a second direction opposite to the first direction, and whereby the control unit controls the electric motor so that the file continuously rotates in the second direction when the monitored data fulfils a predetermined torque threshold condition during rotation in the first direction.
UNITARY CORDLESS DENTAL DRIVE APPARATUS
The invention provides a unitary cordless dental drive apparatus with a cantilever arm extending outward and positioned to allow a dental nose cone to be connected. An activating switch is located at the free end of the cantilever arm in a position that is convenient for manipulation by a user. In a second embodiment, the switch is in the form of a contactor mounted below the cantilever arm to contact the nose cone when pressed. In a third embodiment, a foot pedal connected to a wireless transmitter is provided to send a signal to a receiver located within the handpiece for activating the handpiece.
Dental treatment apparatus
A dental treatment apparatus includes: a handpiece including a head that holds a cutting tool; a drive unit capable of performing forward rotation driving for rotating the cutting tool held at the head in a cutting direction, and reverse rotation driving for rotating the cutting tool held at the head in a non-cutting direction; an operation receiving unit that receives an operation of an operator; and a controller that controls the drive unit that drives the cutting tool, according to the operation received by the operation receiving unit. Only when a prescribed condition is satisfied, the controller sets the operation received by the operation receiving unit as an operation to drive the cutting tool by reverse rotation driving, or as an operation to drive the cutting tool by twist driving by which the forward rotation driving and the reverse rotation driving are alternately performed.
Dental water technology
A heat sterizable, independent dental water supply apparatus has a hand piece control head and a water supply container removably connected to the control head. The apparatus in connectible with a dental, hand piece, an air source and a controller such as a dental foot pedal. In use, the apparatus supplies sterile irrigation water at the hand piece under the control of a dental practitioner. The apparatus is particularly useful of oral surgeons, prosthodontists and other dental specialists. Methods of making and using the apparatus are also disclosed.
DENTAL HANDPIECE COMPRISING A PELTIER ELEMENT OR THERMO-ELECTRIC COOLER TO COOL THE DENTAL BURR
A dental handpiece comprises an outer sleeve (1), a tool-holding socket (2) for holding a treatment tool (3) arranged in the handpiece, wherein the tool-holding socket (2) has a central axis about which the tool-holding socket (2) can be rotated and/or oscillated and wherein the tool-holding socket (2) is arranged to be driven by a driveshaft of the handpiece driven by a motor (10) housed in the outer sleeve (1). At least one Peltier element (5) is received in the handpiece in thermal contact with the tool-holding socket (2), the Peltier element (5) having a cool face in thermal contact with the tool-holding socket (2) to cool a treatment tool (3) held therein when the tool (3) is driven in rotation or oscillation.
HANDPIECE ASSEMBLY FOR LASER TREATMENT DEVICE
Embodiments of the invention include a handpiece system including a detachable cable that can receive at least power, and a detachable cable connector, where the detachable cable connector and detachable cable are reversibly attachable to each other. In some embodiments, the system includes an interchangeable laser module, where the laser module and detachable cable connector are reversibly attachable to each other. Further, the interchangeable laser module is configured and arranged to receive at least the power via the cable connector when coupled to the cable connector, and to be removed from the detachable cable connector and replaced with another laser module. In some embodiments, the system further includes an interchangeable handpiece which is reversibly attachable to the interchangeable laser module. Further, the interchangeable handpiece is configured and arranged to be removed from the interchangeable laser module and replaced with another interchangeable handpiece.
DENTAL TOOLS WITH REMOVABLE INSTRUMENT HEADS AND FLUID DELIVERY LINES
A dental instrument comprising a handle removably attached to an instrument head. The handle has at least two fluid lines in fluid communication with at least one aperture in the instrument head, and may be used for aspiration and irrigation. Details of fluid line and aperture arrangements are discussed, as well as instrument heads and attachment mechanisms.
Method and device for carrying out various functions in connection with surgical instruments
A surgical instruments can be carried out via a foot switch by an operator or a surgeon. It is typical that during operation, multiple surgical instruments are each operated via one foot switch. As a result, the risk of an incorrect operation of the foot switches increases because the space available for the placement of the foot switches is limited. The invention provides a method and a device using which various functions in connection with surgical instruments can be carried out in a simple and safe manner. This is achieved in that at least one projector for generating a virtual control panel and at least one sensor for acquiring the virtual control panel are assigned to a foot switch.
ULTRASONIC SCALER WITH LASER THERAPY CAPABILITY
An ultrasonic device with laser therapy capability, and more particularly, but not exclusively, to ultrasonic scaler with laser therapy capability.
