The method involves coupling a cutting portion of a surgical instrument to a plurality of adjustment motors; holding the handle of the surgical instrument; operating a controller to measure deviations between a cutting pose and a desired pose; and operating the adjustment motors to adjust the cutting pose relative to the handle to reduce the deviations.
DENTAL ALIGNMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DENTAL IMPLANT PLACEMENT
A dental alignment guide system for dental implant placement has an anatomical guide, a tooth supported guide and a surgical guide. The system further can have an articulation piece, a prosthetic seat, an analog anatomical model and artificial teeth. The system has a plurality of implants, the implants being abutments, preferably multiunit abutments, a plurality of screws for attaching the anatomical guide to bone, pins to removably attach the various guides and the artificial teeth to the anatomical guide as assemblies during the method of practicing the invention.
Depth adjustable surgical pin
A depth adjustable surgical pin retains a surgical template at a desired depth, vertical and horizontal position, and pressure against an organic substrate. The surgical pin provides a housing and a retention rod that work in conjunction to achieve this retention function. The housing is defined by a mount end, rod end, inner sidewall having a female thread, and an outer sidewall having ridges for adhering to a drill guide aperture of the surgical template. The housing sets at a predetermined depth in the drill guide aperture. The retention rod comprises a proximal end having a cap, distal end tapering to a sharp point, and a male thread that threadably engages the housing. The retention rod serves as an anchor and provides added strength to the surgical template. The housing becomes an integral part of the surgical guide template to guide the retention rod into a locking position.
BONE FOUNDATION GUIDE SYSTEM AND METHOD
A bone foundation guide system has a bone foundation guide including a body that is contoured to reversibly affix to a bone segment of a dental implant surgical site. The body is further contoured to guide the cutting of a portion of the bone segment from a dental implant surgical site and alternatively support a dental implant surgical guide. The body is further contoured to support a bone foundation guide prosthesis as an alternative to the dental implant surgical guide. The bone foundation guide prosthesis combines with the body to accommodate the bone segment portion as placed through the body prior to the bone segment portion being removed from the dental implant site through the use of the body.
DENTAL IMPLANT SURGICAL DRILL GUIDE DEVICE
The present invention provides a dental implant surgical drill guide device. The dental implant surgical drill guide device comprises: a body portion extending in a longitudinal direction in a cylindrical shape having a first diameter; a neck portion having a second diameter and extending in the longitudinal direction from an end of one side of the body portion; and an extension portion having a third diameter, extending in the longitudinal direction from an end of the other side of the body portion, and having a stepped structure with the body portion. The body portion, the neck portion, and the extension portion are formed integrally. The size of the third diameter is formed to be smaller than the size of the first diameter and larger than the size of the second diameter. The dental implant surgical drill guide device comprises a guard portion extending in the longitudinal direction in a cylindrical shape having a fourth diameter formed to be larger than the first to third diameters, the guard portion being formed to surround the body portion, the neck portion, and the extension portion by the outer surface thereof, having an empty space defined by the inner surface thereof, and guiding inflow and outflow of washing water. The guard portion comprises: a space portion spaced apart from outer surfaces of the body portion and the neck portion by a predetermined interval; and an engaging portion disposed on the lower end of the guard portion so as to protrude from the lower end to the inner surface and to be fitted/coupled to the stepped structure of the extension portion. The space portion comprises: a first space portion formed between the outer portion of the body portion and the inner surface of the guard portion such that the upper portion thereof is exposed; and a second space portion formed between the outer portion of the neck portion and the inner surface of the guard portion such that the lower portion thereof is blocked by fitting/coupling between the extension portion and the engaging portion. The width of the first space portion may be formed to be larger than the width of the second space portion, and the width of the engaging portion may be formed equal to the width of the extension portion.
Visual guidance display for surgical procedure
A visual guidance system for use in a surgical procedure. The system includes an image processing unit programmed to receive a three-dimensional image of a surgical area, information on an instrument being used in the procedure, and a surgical plan including a planned trajectory that the instrument should follow. The image processing unit generates a derived representation of the surgical procedure depicting the movement of the instrument on the three-dimensional image. A graphical guidance indicator is disposed on the three-dimensional image with a center point of the graphical guidance indicator centered on the planned trajectory, the graphical guidance indicator being displayed orthogonal to the planned trajectory. The derived image and the graphical guidance indicator depict at least five degrees of freedom of motion of the instrument. The graphical guidance indicator is changed based on the movement of the instrument in accordance with the surgical plan.
FORCE-CLOSURE OR FORM-CLOSURE POSITIONING OF SURGICAL TEMPLATES FOR GUIDED IMPLANT DENTISTRY
Surgical templates and methods of manufacture to assist in a surgical procedure such as dental implant placement, where the positioning of the surgical template onto its supporting surface is achieved through using a limited number of contact features that are located such that a force-closure or form closure positioning of the surgical template with respect to the supporting surface is achieved.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF AUTOMATED IN-SITU PREPARATION FOR MOUNTING OF PREFABRICATED CUSTOM DENTAL PROSTHESIS
A system and method of automated formation of a preparation stub, based on an a priori created computational geometrical model, configured to conform to a prefabricated fixed dental prosthesis, is described. The system includes a digital imaging facility with an image acquiring device and a three-dimensional data digitizer, a modeling facility with an exterior surface design module and an interior surface design module, a fabrication facility operatively with a computer-aided manufacturing module, as well as an application facility including an ablation tool and in-situ preparation module; application facility preferably includes an intra-oral feedbacking appliance with a distance measurement probe for automated feedback-controlled formation of a preparation stub.
