A server-based system provides remote configuration of client electromechanical equipment and comparative analysis of sound data obtained therefrom. The server obtains equipment identification data from an endpoint device, and determines a confidence level of a suggested equipment configuration relative to various types of equipment having associated sound data files stored in a database. For sufficient matches (confidence levels exceeding a predetermined threshold value), the server associates the equipment with a selected one of the types of equipment, and conveys at least predetermined sound inspection positions to the endpoint device. A sound detection device is applied respective to the inspection points, wherein analog sound signals are collected from the equipment and converted into digital sound data. The digital data files are transmitted to the server and analyzed to identify data points representative of an electromechanical equipment failure, and to alert authorized users of potential failure and/or associated costs.

An abnormality diagnosis device (40) for a machine tool (1) has: a displacement sensor (36) for detecting the amount of displacement of a spindle bearing (30); an acceleration sensor (38) for detecting the acceleration of a ram (28); a collision determination unit (46) for determining whether the ram or a spindle (32) has collided with a work piece, on the basis of at least the amount of displacement of the spindle bearing detected by the displacement sensor or the acceleration of the ram detected by the acceleration sensor; and a damage determination unit (50) for determining the degree of damage to the spindle bearing on the basis of at least the amount of displacement of the spindle bearing, the acceleration of the ram, or a frequency characteristic of vibration of the ram due to rotation of the spindle obtained from the acceleration of the ram, when the collision determination unit determines that the ram or the spindle has collided with the work piece.

A load is measured when an unclamping command is output and then the rotary table is rotated after a set time set in the timer passes, and the set time of the timer is changed in response to a magnitude of the measured load. In this way, it is possible to prevent the clamping mechanism from being damaged due to a subsequent command given before unclamping ends, and extend a life span of a component.
