DENTAL ATTACHMENT ASSEMBLY CAP AND METHOD OF USE
20200297462 · 2020-09-24 ·

A dental attachment assembly and method anchors a dental appliance with an implant and has an abutment member attached to the implant, a retention member in releasable snap engagement with the abutment member, and a cap secured in a recess of the dental appliance and in releasable swivel engagement with the retention member to position and secure the dental appliance onto the implant. The cap includes a cavity with a rounded, concave inner surface which engages with the retention member, an interior top surface of the cavity with a concave recess extending radially along an outer periphery of the interior top surface of the cavity to allow for rotation of the retention member within the cap. A central portion of the interior top surface of the cavity surrounded by the concave recess therefore protrudes vertically into the cavity to minimize vertical displacement of the retention member as it rotates.

A dental device comprises: a dental implant comprising a core enveloped by an expandable anchor comprising a plurality of joined segments. Prior to insertion of the core into the expandable anchor a carrier apically displaces within the expandable anchor, generating an expansion force causing the plurality of joined segments to be displaced linearly away from the central axis of the implant where the coronal and apical ends of each joined segment are displaced in parallel paths normal to the central axis of the implant. The core inserts into the expandable anchor to lock the plurality of joined segments in their expanded configuration. At least a first rail on the core is received by a corresponding expandable anchor slot to align the core and expandable anchor and at least a first core and expandable locking lodge engage to lock the core into the expandable anchor.

An intra-procedure dental implant stabilization and healing system that includes a soft tissue forming scanning abutment and associated, temporary crown. After initial implant placement, a scanning abutment of the present system is attached to the implant and serves, both as a scanning body and, in combination with a temporary crown attached thereto, as a healing cap. Use of the system obviates an additional surgical incision to reach recipient osseointegrated implant, as is required in conventional implant procedures, as well as the need for a conventional impression coping, separate healing cap, temporary abutment and temporary crown.
