A system and method are described for post-processing a 3D printed component. For example, support structures for the 3D printed component may be removed during post-processing. In the system and method, a marker is placed on the 3D printed component or on a support structure attached to the 3D printed component. The marker may be printed while the 3D printed component and the support structures are printed by a 3D printer. After printing, the marker may then be sensed to determine one or more cutting paths between the 3D printed component and the support structures. The 3D printed component may then be autonomously separated from the support structures by cutting through the cutting path.

A control system unit for a 3-dimensional (3D) object manufacturing system is disclosed herein that comprises one or more sensors and a controller. The one or more sensors are to sense 3D-objects manufactured in the manufacturing system in accordance with product specification data and to generate sensor signals representative for the sensed 3D-objects. The controller is to determine 3D-object characteristics of said sensed 3D-objects on the basis of said sensor data signals and to issue one or more corresponding control signals to control a system actuator unit so as to act on said sensed 3D-objects in accordance with their respective determined characteristics. The controller comprises a synthetic sensor data module to generate synthetic sensor data from product specification data of 3D-objects to be manufactured with the object manufacturing system, to therewith simulate sensor data for said 3D-objects to be sensed when manufactured. The controller further comprises a trainable classification module to be trained in a supervised manner with the synthetic sensor data. Therewith human assisted configuration efforts are obviated in that the improved control system unit does not require other input than the product specification data that was already available for the purpose of actually manufacturing the 3D-products to be identified.

A controller communicates with a processor positioned within a replaceable cell cartridge of a chlorinator, to allow for remote control and diagnosis of the chlorinator and/or cell cartridge. The cell cartridge stores, in non-volatile memory on board the cartridge, one or more parameters associated with the cartridge. The controller can obtain this information from the processor of the cell cartridge, and can use same to configure operation of the chlorinator. Information relating to remaining cell life can be updated by the controller and stored in the non-volatile memory of the cell cartridge. Electrical and software-based mechanisms are provided for ensuring operation of only compatible cell cartridges with the chlorinator. A system for remotely diagnosing errors associated with the chlorinator is also provided.
