Infusion system having filtration device and method
An infusion system includes an infusion catheter defining a fluid passage extending between a proximal catheter end and a distal catheter end, and having a plurality of infusion ports in communication with the fluid passage and defining an infusion zone. A filtration device is provided which may be retrofitted upon the infusion catheter and includes a filter sleeve coupled to a slidable control sleeve. The filter sleeve is deformable between a first configuration having a radially contracted footprint and a second configuration having a radially expanded footprint, responsive to sliding the control sleeve over the infusion catheter such that the deformable filter sleeve buckles outwardly from the infusion catheter.
Introducer sheath with embolic protection
The embolic protection device comprises an embolic filter attached to an inner sheath. The embolic filter includes at least a first catheter access port and a second catheter port. At least the first catheter port will typically be radially expandable to receive catheters of different diameters and will be located at an atypical end of an aero conical structure at a downstream end of the filter.
Distal protection devices having controllable wire motion
A distal protection device for use in a body lumen. The device includes a functional element which may be a filler or an occlusive element. The device includes means for controlling the movement and placement of the functional element along a guidewire. Motion of the guidewire can be independent of the motion of the functional element.
Rapid exchange catheters and embolic protection devices
A catheter compiling a housing portion defining an interior cavity and the housing portion comprising a housing member having an interior space dimensioned for housing an indwelling medical device. The elongated member comprises a lumen extending at least from an exit port to a distal port, the housing member is disposed within the lumen, and the lumen is dimensioned in the housing portion to receive a guidewire outside of the interior space of the housing member. A medical device for filtering emboli from blood flowing in a blood vessel of patient comprising an elongate support member and an elongate side branch member connected to the elongate support member. The filter element is attached to the elongate side branch member by a proximal filter element slider, and the elongate side branch member is adapted to maintain the filter element centered in the vessel.
EXPANDABLE IMPLANT DEVICES FOR FILTERING BLOOD FLOW FROM ATRIAL APPENDAGES
Implant devices for filtering blood flowing through the ostium of an atrial appendage have component structures one or more of which are expandable. Devices with component structures in their unexpanded state have a compact size suitable for intra-cutaneous delivery to an atrial appendage situs. The expandable component structures are expanded in situ to deploy the devices. A device may have sufficiently short axial length so that most or almost all of the device length may fit within the ostium region.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CAPTURING OBJECTS BEYOND AN OPERATIVE SITE IN MEDICAL PROCEDURES
A device (2) for capturing and removing particles (58) from a body canal or vessel includes a sack (12) having a mouth (14) and a closed bottom (16) opposite mouth (14). A guide wire (4) is received through mouth (14) of sack (12) and is connected to closed bottom (16) of sack (12). A collapsible frame (8) is connected between guide wire (4) and mouth (14) of sack (12), with collapsible frame (8) biasing mouth (14) of sack (12) opened around guide wire (4). A containment collar (32) slidably receives guide wire (4), collapsible frame (8), and at least part of sack (12) therein. A pull wire (34) is connected to containment collar (32). Collapsible frame (8) can move from inside containment collar (32) where mouth (14) of sack (12) is closed and outside containment collar (32) where mouth (14) of sack (12) is biased open by collapsible flame (8).
RAPID EXCHANGE VENA CAVA FILTER CATHETER AND METHOD OF USE
A rapid exchange catheter having a vena cava filter and a method for percutaneous delivery of the rapid exchange vena cava filter for use in indicated medical situations in which prophylactic or therapeutic protection against pulmonary embolism are indicated.
INTEGRATED EMBOLIC PROTECTION DEVICES
Embolic protection elements are integrated with a catheter or access sheath for any catheter. A catheter with an integrated embolic protection element comprises a catheter shaft, an embolic filter slidably mounted on a distal portion of the shaft, a proximal stop for limiting the proximal movement of the embolic filter, and a distal stop for limiting the distal movement of the embolic filter. The filter comprises a porous mesh material defining a collection chamber for captured emboli and has a collapsed and a deployed configuration. The filter may be collapsed by an access sheath used with the catheter. An access sheath may comprise a tubular main body and an embolic filter mounted on the distal portion of the tubular main body. The embolic filter may evert into the central lumen of the sheath or may be constrained on the exterior of the sheath with a larger diameter outer tube.
MEDICAL DEVICE AND PROCEDURE METHOD
A medical device to be inserted into a blood vessel for effectively removing an object flowing in a biological lumen while reducing the burden on the living body includes an elongated shaft portion, and an expansion portion which is an elastically deformable cylindrical body having a plurality of gaps and in which a proximal portion or a distal portion of the cylindrical body is interlocked with the shaft portion. The expansion portion has a ring-shaped or annular bent portion which protrudes toward a proximal side position radially outside the expansion portion in a bent state of being bent along an axial direction, and an axial length of a second portion from the bent portion to a proximal end of the expansion portion is shorter than an axial length of a first portion from the bent portion to the distal end of the expansion portion.
Filter device
A filter device has a catheter having a lumen, a shaft extended in the longitudinal direction from the lumen, and a filter capturing an embolus. The filter is connected to the shaft through a slide ring at the distal end thereof. The shaft is inserted into and passed through the ring. The ring is rotatable with respect to the shaft and slidable in the longitudinal direction. When the filter is expanded in a blood vessel, the ring slides on the shaft. The filter is connected to the shaft through another ring on the peripheral edge of an opening. The shaft is inserted into and passed through the ring. The ring is rotatable with respect to the shaft. The ring is held between a pair of stoppers fixed onto the shaft. Therefore, the movement of the ring in the longitudinal direction with respect to the shaft is prevented.
