The present invention provides devices for removing an embolus or thrombus. The device includes an elongate member configured for insertion into the vasculature, an expandable member that extends from the distal end of the elongate member, and a flow restrictor associated with a proximal portion of the expandable member. The expandable member is configured to transition from a compacted state to an expanded state, in which the expandable portion engages with the embolus. The flow restrictor is configured to restrict blood flow and generate a low pressure zone at a location in the vasculature that is distal to the flow restrictor.

Catheter with integrated embolic protection device

A prosthetic heart valve delivery catheter includes an embolic filter to provide integrated embolic protection to inhibit the release of emboli into the aorta, the aortic arch or branch vessels, and other vasculature during transvascular heart valve replacement procedures. The embolic filter will usually be fixedly or movably attached to a shaft of the delivery catheter proximal of the prosthetic heart valve.

Embolic protection elements are integrated with a catheter or access sheath for any catheter. A catheter with an integrated embolic protection element comprises a catheter shaft, an embolic filter slidably mounted on a distal portion of the shaft, a proximal stop for limiting the proximal movement of the embolic filter, and a distal stop for limiting the distal movement of the embolic filter. The filter comprises a porous mesh material defining a collection chamber for captured emboli and has a collapsed and a deployed configuration. The filter may be collapsed by an access sheath used with the catheter. An access sheath may comprise a tubular main body and an embolic filter mounted on the distal portion of the tubular main body. The embolic filter may evert into the central lumen of the sheath or may be constrained on the exterior of the sheath with a larger diameter outer tube.

A catheter compiling a housing portion defining an interior cavity and the housing portion comprising a housing member having an interior space dimensioned for housing an indwelling medical device. The elongated member comprises a lumen extending at least from an exit port to a distal port, the housing member is disposed within the lumen, and the lumen is dimensioned in the housing portion to receive a guidewire outside of the interior space of the housing member. A medical device for filtering emboli from blood flowing in a blood vessel of patient comprising an elongate support member and an elongate side branch member connected to the elongate support member. The filter element is attached to the elongate side branch member by a proximal filter element slider, and the elongate side branch member is adapted to maintain the filter element centered in the vessel.

ENDOVASCULAR TREATMENT ASSISTANCE TOOL

A treatment aiding device includes a flexible shaft; a filter; linear supporting members; an elastomer member composed of an elastomer in which a penetrating hole is formed, which elastomer member is arranged in the proximal side relative to the opening section of the filter such that the shaft penetrates the penetrating hole, wherein the outer diameter of the end face in which the penetrating hole is formed is larger than the outer diameter of the opening-section side of the filter when the filter is closed; and an outer tube in which a penetrating hole is formed, which outer tube is arranged in the proximal side relative to the opening section of the filter such that the shaft penetrates the penetrating hole in a state which allows movement of the shaft in the longitudinal direction; wherein the elastomer member is fixed in the distal side of the outer tube.

A filter device has a catheter having a lumen, a shaft extended in the longitudinal direction from the lumen, and a filter capturing an embolus. The filter is connected to the shaft through a slide ring at the distal end thereof. The shaft is inserted into and passed through the ring. The ring is rotatable with respect to the shaft and slidable in the longitudinal direction. When the filter is expanded in a blood vessel, the ring slides on the shaft. The filter is connected to the shaft through another ring on the peripheral edge of an opening. The shaft is inserted into and passed through the ring. The ring is rotatable with respect to the shaft. The ring is held between a pair of stoppers fixed onto the shaft. Therefore, the movement of the ring in the longitudinal direction with respect to the shaft is prevented.

Delivery catheter system

A delivery catheter system includes a catheter and an integrated embolic filter that is deployable prior to the delivery of a prosthesis in a patient's vasculature and retrievable after delivery of said prosthesis. The embolic filter is moveable from a collapsed state, in which the embolic filter is retained within the catheter body, to a deployed state in which the embolic filter extends from the catheter body and, in use, into contact with an inner wall of a patient's vasculature.

Medical device and procedure method

A medical device insertable into a blood vessel for effectively removing an object flowing in a biological lumen while reducing the burden on the living body includes an elongated shaft portion, and an expansion portion which is an elastically deformable cylindrical body having a plurality of gaps and in which a proximal portion or a distal portion of the cylindrical body is interlocked with the shaft portion. The expansion portion has a ring-shaped or annular bent portion which protrudes toward a proximal side position radially outside the expansion portion in a bent state of being bent along an axial direction, and an axial length of a second portion from the bent portion to a proximal end of the expansion portion is shorter than an axial length of a first portion from the bent portion to the distal end of the expansion portion.
