An electrical safety system and method is provided which includes a flexible electrical safety vest, a lifeline coupled with the vest in various configurations, and leg straps. The electrical safety vest includes a number of loops which are used to couple the lifeline in a variety of relationships that enable different types of maneuvering of a worker with relation to a hazard. Various embodiments of the invention can be used to rapidly and safety remove a worker from proximity to an immediate threat to their life, health, or safety. Direct and indirect extraction from a danger are enabled. A variety of methods are also provided for operating various embodiments of the invention.
HARNESS WITH SINGLE-PULL ADJUSTMENT FOR SPORTS CHEST PROTECTOR
A chest protector includes a protective vest portion and a harness portion to hold the vest portion on a user. The harness portion includes a first side strap and a second side strap, each of the first and second side straps being connected to the vest portion on opposing sides of the vest portion; a first slide connected to the first side strap; a second slide connected to the second side strap; a central strap passing through the first slide and the second slide and forming a loop connecting the first and second slides; a vertical strap connected to the central strap; and a strap adjuster connecting the vest portion and the vertical strap. The vertical strap passes through the strap adjuster and a free end of the vertical strap can be pulled to tighten the harness portion around a user. The vertical strap may be the only adjustable strap.
PROTECTIVE ARTICLES AND METHODS THEREOF
Disclosed herein are wearable articles and methods for the manufacture and use thereof. The wearable articles can comprise compression elements, gripping elements, and support elements containing a rate-sensitive material which can operate to prevent injury.
GARMENT INCLUDING A GARMENT PORT
A garment having an inner surface and an outer surface for use with a safety strap, the garment comprising a collar configured to at least partially encircle an upper portion of the garment, a garment port arranged on or adjacent to the collar forming a channel between the inner surface and the outer surface of the garment, the garment port having at least three sides, one of the sides being open to form the channel, a flap coupled to the collar and configured to move between a closed configuration covering the port and allowing passage of the safety strap through the channel between the inner surface and the outer surface of the garment and an open configuration allowing removal of the safety strap through the open side of the port, and a closure device arranged with the flap and configured to maintain the flap in the closed configuration.
GARMENT WITH SAFETY FEATURES
A safety garment for use in hazardous environments. The safety garment includes a covering configured to cover at least part of a torso of a wearer of the garment and a refillable heat extraction pack attached to the covering. The pack defines a chamber for receiving and releasably retaining a cooling medium therein for absorbing heat from the wearer and a flow control device for permitting the release of the cooling medium from the chamber via a port after a cooling capacity of the cooling medium has been reduced. The safety garment also includes a wearer-carrying harness integrated into the covering. The wearer-carrying harness having a pair of shoulder straps, each of the shoulder straps being configured to completely encircle a respective shoulder of the wearer.
MULTIPLE LAYER GARMENT
A garment includes an inner portion, an outer portion, and at least one fastener. The outer portion surrounds the inner portion and is at least partially fixed to the inner portion. The at least one fastener is configured to detachably connect one or more of a first side of the outer portion with a second side of the outer portion or a first side of the outer portion to the inner portion to cause the outer portion to be in a closed position with respect to the inner portion. The outer portion is configured to be movable from the closed position to an open position with respect to the inner portion to facilitate a positioning of a vehicle restraint over the inner portion while the garment is being worn by a vehicle occupant.
INCLEMENT WEATHER WORK GARMENTS
An inclement weather garments provides a protective clothing that may be worn over, rather than beneath a safety restraint harness. This garment improves worker efficiency by retaining body heat, and also reduces the risk that the restraint harness may become entangled or snagged during movement of the worker. The garment includes a diaphragm configured to provide a resilient closure slit through which a retaining ring of the harness may extend. The diaphragm sealingly closes about the ring to retain the worker's body heat and keep rain outside the garment.
A GARMENT
The present invention provides a garment (100) for moving an incapacitated person, comprising a wearable body portion (102); and a support portion (104) comprising a plurality of attachment elements (110) attachable to a lifting device, wherein the plurality of attachment elements comprises a first attachment element located at a first location on a first side of a sagittal plane of the garment and a second attachment element located at a second location on a second side of the sagittal plane and substantially opposed to the first location. A method of moving an incapacitated person and a system comprising a garment (500) and a sling (600) are also provided.
SURVIVAL SYSTEMS
A personal survival system for use in water includes an inflatable chamber (9) and in inflation system (31) operable to inflate the inflatable chamber (9), wherein the inflation system (31) is mounted separately from and remotely from the inflatable chamber (9). Also disclosed are: a survival system for use in water includes an inflatable chamber including an inner layer and an outer layer, wherein the inner layer is separate from the outer layer; an inflation control system for use with an in-water survival system, the inflation control system comprises a selectively sealable chamber configured to contain water-triggered automatic inflation device of the survival system; and a personal survival system including an inflatable bladder and a moulded cover constructed from a flexible polymer.
FLOTATION SYSTEM
A flotation system includes a crotch support and a vest. The crotch support includes a central body, a first pad, a second pad, and first and second elastic bands extending from the first pad.
