Disclosed herein are wearable articles and methods for the manufacture and use thereof. The wearable articles can comprise compression elements, gripping elements, and support elements containing a rate-sensitive materials which can operate to prevent injury.

Hiking/trekking garment employing a special suspension harness and bat-wing type sleeves configured to permit the garment to be partially doffed in a gathered transport mode yet is retained on the hiker's back for rapid deployment in case of unexpected change in the weather. The backpack and garment may be donned or doffed independent of the other and without assistance of another person. The harness prevents the garment from riding up and back to not choke the wearer. The garment is specially configured with expandable backpack cover panels. A backpack may be donned or doffed by the wearer alone without assistance and independent of the garment, even while the garment is deployed in the inclement weather use position. Conversely, the garment can be independently put on or taken off without disturbing the backpack and without assistance. The length of the garment may be selected to form a cloak or a jacket.

A one-piece vest garment having a fashionable appearance wearable in public settings, with an adjustable tapered/secure fit providing efficient manual transfer/lift assistance to caregivers with mobility challenged patients at risk for falling and in need of assistance during standing, walking, sitting, or repositioning activities. It provides secure, steady, and controlled patient lifting while promoting good body mechanics for reduced risk of caregiver shoulder, hand, wrist, and back injury. Since the vest more evenly distributes pressure around a patient's body, in lift maneuvers patient skin tears, bruising, and joint dislocations are reduced. It preferably has four fit-adjusting contour straps and double locking D-ring assemblies, including inner front chest strap, inner front waist strap, exterior back shoulder strap, and exterior lower back strap; a double zippered front closure; and eleven hand grip components, four front, five back, and two side, each fixed with circular stitching for sturdiness and durability during transfer/lift maneuvers.

A multi-use exercise garment is provided. The multi-use exercise garment comprises of jacket having a weight belt, resistance bands and adjustable ankle straps. Resistant bands can be attached through the holes on the front of the jacket and sand bags can be added to the weight belt for extra weight.

Garments with radiation-reducing pockets and harnessing are described. A shirt can include a pocket made of a radiation-reducing material to place an electronic device such as a smartphone within. This can reduce the amount of radiation absorbed by a user's body. A harness system of the shirt can also distribute the weight of the smartphone to improve the comfort of the user.

A garment attachable to an exercise or therapeutic apparatus that is capable of elevating the user slightly above the ground, reducing potential for injury and strain by shifting the user's weight to the frame of the apparatus. The garment is incorporated into the apparatus by comprising panels under the buttocks and around the thighs, providing balance and lifting the user comfortably in conjunction with the frame. A low-friction plate is positioned under the user's feet so that the user can ambulate freely while held in place by the frame.

A coat with an integrated drag harness. The harness is a single strip of material, such as a flat webbing or rope that extends through a slit in the center of the back of the coat torso below the neck opening. Inside the torso, the strip is a yoke that follows a path that runs from the slit, around one arm hole, across the slit, around the other arm hole, and ending at the slit. The yoke is secured to the torso by stitching. The strip extends a length outside of the slit to form a strap that is at least is four feet long. Optionally, the end of the strap has a handle. Optionally, the strap is stored in a pocket in the back of the torso.

A garment for use by a user wearing a safety harness includes a garment body having a front side and a rear side, an opening having a shape defined in the front side of the garment body and partially retained by a flexible portion, a releasable closure disposed on the garment body adjacent the opening and configured to cover the opening. The flexible portion allows the shape of the opening to expand to allow a portion of the safety harness to extend through the opening without displacing the garment body.

An emblem and assembly is provided for use with a leather garment. The emblem can include a decorative design on its surface. The assembly includes an inner support plate affixable with a section of the leather garment and an emblem base plate. The emblem base plate includes a first side for receiving at least one latching mechanism and a second side for receiving the emblem, wherein the latching mechanism couples with the inner support plate. The emblem base plate can include a hollowed out section on the second side with a circuit board with electrically coupled LED lighting attached thereto. The assembly can include an anchor plate affixable within an interior of the garment. The assembly can include a shoulder harness coupleable with the anchor plate and the inner support plate. The harness and inner support plate can be affixed at different positions along the anchor plate.

A garment is configured to facilitate wearing by an occupant of a seat assembly with a plurality of harness strap, such as a wheelchair or child car seat. The garment has an inner surface, an outer surface, and defines a plurality of slots that extend from the inner surface to the outer surface. The slots are sufficiently sized and positioned such that a respective one of the harness straps is insertable through a respective one of the slots when the garment is on the seating assembly.
