Disclosed herein are garments having one or more cuts made in the outer layer of the garment and one or more safety grooves beneath the outer layer. The safety grooves may define a path for one or more contact surfaces of a harness. The cuts and safety grooves may secure a person inside a harness by reducing and/or eliminating the amount of material between the harness contact surfaces and the body or inner layer of clothing of the person wearing the garment.

A full body emergency descent system (EDS) for incorporating into the coat and pants of a firefighter, outside the protective interior liners for same, to allow for safe escape from elevated heights. The EDS includes: a panel housing flame resistant rope or cable into the coat with a pair of chest straps, and a pair of leg straps having lower buckles that can be fastened through pocket accesses to buckle connectors extending from each of a pair of leg loops incorporated into the pants thus forming a full body harness. The EDS further includes a purposefully designed control descent rack in and through which the rope/cable is wound and a friction braking handle.

An outerwear garment includes a torso body having an inner surface and an outer surface. The torso body defines a pass-through opening extending through the inner surface and outer surface and a pocket opening extending at least through the outer surface. A pocket extends inwardly from the outer surface at the pocket opening. A waist gaiter is coupled to the inner surface. The pass through opening provides access to a space defined between the pocket and the waist gaiter.

Garments having evacuation harnesses and methods of using the same

Garments having an evacuation harness that are intended for connection to each other, with each garment having an outer wear unit including at least a torso portion and an evacuation harness that includes a torso strap system connected to the outer wear unit. The garments may include an outer wear pant having a leg strap system. Garments that are similar to each other conveniently may be used in a rescue garment system. Also disclosed are methods of connecting an individual to be rescued to one or more rescuers wearing similar garments.

A garment wearable by an individual using a harness system of a vehicle seat has an inner front layer, and an adjacent outer front layer comprising a left panel, a right panel and a coupling member adapted to join or separate the left and right panels. The garment is adapted to receive one or more harness straps of the harness system between the inner front layer and the outer front layer when the one or more harness straps are routed from a shoulder region to a waist region of the garment, and when so routed, the one or more harness straps lie flush against at least a chest area of the inner front layer.

A load-bearing garment, such as a vest, is provided having stretchable web platform on an outside surface, such as between front and back panels of the vest. The stretchable web platform includes stretchable bands that extend horizontally, and vertical webbing extending between multiple horizontal bands. Additional embodiments are directed to a mounting system in a plate carrier for a plate. Still further embodiments are directed to a handle and strap system for a vest or other garment that permits a quick rescue of a person wearing the vest.

A system and method of evacuating a downed tactical operator from a hostile environment comprising adding an evacuation belt strap to a PALS grid on a body armor vest by using belt keepers. The evacuation belt strap is made by forming loops at the ends of the strap to function as handles to be grasped by rescuers of the downed operator.

A MOLLE system compatible garment has a lightweight attachment structure of horizontal bands connected by vertical bands and supports attachment of utility pouches woven onto this structure with vertical bands affixed at top of each pouch and secured at the bottom. This system has differently sized mono-layer load bearing panels cut to define holes delimiting vertical structural columns and vertical lightweight columns with horizontal bands which together present attachment points that correspond to those of a PALS webbing system. The system has mono-layer adaptor panels cut to define holes delimiting single vertical structural columns mounting different military standard connectors. The load bearing panels when overlaid with universal connector adaptor panels are secured by the weaving of the attached utility pouches' vertical bands to present a complete equipment carrying platform compatible with MOLLE system load carriage equipment.

The harness structure may include at least two shoulder portions, at least one torso portion encircling the torso of the wearer and attached to the shoulder portions, and at least one central portion connected to the shoulder portions.
