The present disclosure relates to a posterior chamber intraocular lens with swivel haptics for capsulotomy fixation in an eye. The posterior chamber intraocular lens includes a circular optic and at least one pair of swivel haptics. The circular optic is configured to be positioned within a capsular bag of the eye. The circular optic includes plurality of positioning holes on a periphery. The at least one pair of swivel haptics is positioned on the circular optic. The at least one pair of swivel haptics is configured to be rotated away from the circular optic and fixed above an anterior capsule of the eye.

MICROPATTERNED INTRAOCULAR IMPLANTS

Generally, an intraocular implant having on the external surface a plurality of pattern surface elements disposed in spaced apart relation defining a tortuous pathway adapted to control a flow of fluid or a flow of particles suspended in a fluid or inhibit the growth or migration of cells is provided. In particular, an intraocular implant that is implanted between an intraocular lens and the surface of the posterior capsule of the eye inhibits growth or migration of residual lens epithelial cells after cataract surgery by providing structural barriers to reduce posterior capsule opacification of the eye.

Prosthetic capsular devices, systems, and methods

Prosthetic capsular devices (e.g., bag, bowl, housing, structure, cage, frame) include technology devices such as a computer, virtual reality device, display device, WiFi/internet access device, image receiving device, biometric sensor device, game device, image viewers or senders, GPSs, e-mail devices, combinations thereof, and/or the like. The technology devices can be used in combination with an intraocular lens. The output from the technology device(s) can be fed to the retina of the user to provide a visual image, can be otherwise connected to the user, and/or can be used to control the properties of the intraocular lens or of the prosthetic capsular device. Wearable technology that provides biometric data, such as blood glucose levels, body temperature, electrolyte balance, heart rate, EKG, EEG, intraocular pressure, sensing ciliary muscle contraction for accommodation stimulus, dynamic pupil change and retinal prostheses, combinations thereof, and the like can assist in technology-assisted health care functions.

A mask is provided that is configured to increase the depth of focus of a patient. The mask can include an aperture configured to transmit along an optical axis substantially all visible incident light. The mask can further include a portion surrounding at least a portion of the aperture. The portion may be configured to be substantially opaque to visible electromagnetic radiation and be substantially transparent to electromagnetic radiation transmitted from an ocular examination device (e.g., substantially transparent to at least some non-visible electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength between about 750 nm and about 1500 nm).

A prosthetic capsular device configured to be inserted in an eye after removal of a lens, in some embodiments, can comprise a housing structure comprising capable of containing an intraocular device and an equiconvex refractive surface. The housing structure can comprise an anterior portion comprising an anterior opening, a posterior portion comprising a posterior opening, and a continuous lateral portion between the anterior portion and the posterior portion.

Device for assisting visually impaired patients

The invention pertains to devices and methods that allow a subject having a diseased retina to see a more complete image of the subject's field-of-view. The invention provides a device comprising one or more windows comprising a plurality of optical components that redirect the light transmitting through the regions of the windows corresponding to the non-functional areas of the retina onto the functional areas of the retina in a manner such that the subject perceives a more complete field-of-view through the functional areas of the retina. The invention also provides a device comprising one or more cameras, a microprocessor, and one or more display screens, wherein the microprocessor comprises an algorithm programmed to remove portions of the image corresponding to non-functional areas of the subject's retina and compressing the portions so removed into the areas of the image corresponding to the functional areas of the subject's retina.
