DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DIAGNOSING AND TREATING SINUSITIS AND OTHER DISORDERS OF THE EARS, NOSE AND/OR THROAT
Sinusitis, enlarged nasal turbinates, tumors, infections, hearing disorders, allergic conditions, facial fractures and other disorders of the ear, nose and throat are diagnosed and/or treated using minimally invasive approaches and, in many cases, flexible catheters as opposed to instruments having rigid shafts. Various diagnostic procedures and devices are used to perform imaging studies, mucus flow studies, air/gas flow studies, anatomic dimension studies, endoscopic studies and transillumination studies. Access and occluder devices may be used to establish fluid tight seals in the anterior or posterior nasal cavities/nasopharynx and to facilitate insertion of working devices (e.g., scopes, guidewires, catheters, tissue cutting or remodeling devices, electrosurgical devices, energy emitting devices, devices for injecting diagnostic or therapeutic agents, devices for implanting devices such as stents, substance eluting devices, substance delivery implants, etc.
SINUS AND NASAL STENT
A stent that is sleeved and radially expandable, and which in an expanded state provides a breathable, generally tubular structure sized and shaped for residence in a sinus or nasal cavity or passage, and in an unexpanded state has a cross-sectional diameter suitable for insertion into such cavity or passage. The sleeve limits expansion and outward pressure exerted by the stent and thereby can prevent or reduce the incidence of headache in patients, and can provide increased surface area for improved elution of chugs to nearby mucosal tissue.
Devices, systems and methods for using and monitoring implants
Implants are provided, comprising the implant and a plurality of sensors. Briefly stated, implants (also sometimes referred to as devices or medical devices) are provided comprising an implant along with one or more sensors to monitor the integrity, position and efficaciousness of the implant. The sensors may be positioned on the inside of the implant, within the body of the implant, or on the outer surface (or surfaces) of the implant, and/or between the implant and any device that might be utilized to deliver the implant (e.g., another implant, catheter, tunneling catheter, endoscope, balloon implant, or other medical device).
Apparatus and Methods for Correcting Nasal Valve Collapse
The present invention relates to apparatus ad methods for correcting nasal valve collapse comprising a device configured for suspending a nasal valve, the device comprising a body portion comprising a proximal end, a distal end, and a plurality of barbs, wherein the body portion is configured to be inserted through or underneath the upper lateral cartilage of a patient and wherein the plurality of barbs are configured to engage a soft tissue overlying a bony tissue proximal to the upper lateral cartilage, and a head portion coupled to the proximal end of the body portion wherein the head portion is configured to engage the upper lateral cartilage of the patient when the plurality of barbs are engaged with the soft tissue overlying the bony tissue proximal to the upper lateral cartilage.
Implantable scaffolds for treatment of sinusitis
This disclosure describes, inter alia, materials, devices, kits and methods that may be used to treat chronic sinusitis. More specifically, a drug-eluting scaffold is implanted in the middle meatus to treat chronic sinusitis for weeks to months.
Scaffold loading and delivery systems
This disclosure describes, inter alia, materials, devices, kits and methods that may be used for loading scaffolds into delivery devices and delivery of scaffolds into the body of a patient, including delivery of scaffolds to the sinuses for the treatment of chronic sinusitis, among other purposes.
IMPLANTABLE SCAFFOLDS FOR TREATMENT OF SINUSITIS
This disclosure describes, inter alia, materials, devices, kits and methods that may be used to treat chronic sinusitis. An implant is configured to fit inside of the middle meatus of a human nasal cavity. The implant includes a therapeutic-agent formulation containing a layer of over 2000 micrograms of mometasone furoate. The implant releases the mometasone furoate for more than 12 weeks. A second implant can also be provided configured to fit inside the middle meatus. The second implant also includes a therapeutic-agent formulation containing a layer of over 2000 micrograms of mometasone furoate, and releases the mometasone furoate for more than 12 weeks.
Methods and devices for paranasal sinus delivery
Described herein are methods and devices for delivering a drug to the frontal sinus system. An inflatable implant is positioned within the frontal sinus system using an anchoring means secured within the frontal sinus cavity. A drug-containing fluid is released directly into the frontal sinus drainage system.
Resorbable crosslinked form stable membrane for use outside the oral cavity
The invention relates to resorbable crosslinked form stable membrane which comprises a composite layer of collagen material and inorganic ceramic particles containing 1.5 to 3.5 weight parts of inorganic ceramic for 1 weight part of collagen material, sandwiched between two layers of elastic pretensed collagen material (collagen material that has been stretched such as to be in the linear/elastic region of the stress-strain curve), the collagen material comprising 50-100% (w/w) collagen and 0-50% (w/w) elastin, and has shape and dimensions suitable for use in human tissue regeneration outside the oral cavity in rhinoplasty, postlateral spinal fusion or orbital reconstruction.
