A system and method for electrical stimulation in an orthopedic implant that includes at least one implantable component with an implant body, a plurality of electrodes, and implant circuitry is effective to convert an external wireless power transmission to an electrical current and effective to control the plurality of electrodes; and at least one non-implant with a power source, and transmitter circuitry to generate the electromagnetic field that couples with the implant circuitry.
Dynamic and non-dynamic interspinous fusion implant and bone growth stimulation system
An interspinous fusion device is described. The interspinous fusion device includes a spacer member and an anchor member. The spacer member has a ring with two or more anchor assemblies projecting laterally from substantially opposite sides of the spacer member ring. The spacer member further has a first zip lock flange and a second zip lock flange, each of the first and second zip lock flanges extends transversely from the spacer member ring wherein each of the first and second zip lock flanges each comprises a series of teeth protruding from it. The anchor member has a ring with two or more anchor assemblies projecting laterally from substantially opposite sides of the anchor member ring. The anchor member further has a barrel extending transversely from the anchor member ring. The barrel comprises a first column of recesses adapted to mate with the teeth of the first zip lock flange and a second column of recesses adapted to mate with the teeth of the second zip lock flange. The spacer member is adapted to slide over the barrel of the anchor member such that the series of teeth of the first zip lock flange mates with the recesses in the first column of recesses of the barrel, and the series of teeth of the second zip lock flange mates with the recesses in the second column of recesses of the barrel to secure the spacer member to the anchor member.
MODULAR FEMORAL NAIL AND METHOD OF USE THEREOF
An intramedullary nail for implantation within a fractured bone. The intramedullary nail includes two or more nail modules. Each nail module has an elongated body with a first end and a second end. For each nail module, at least one of the first end or the second end is a connecting end configured to connect to a second connecting end on a second nail module.
SUBCHONDRAL TREATMENT TO PREVENT THE PROGRESSION OF OSTEOARTHRITIS OF THE JOINT
Methods for the prevention, or delayed onset or progression of, bone marrow edema or bone marrow lesion, and subchondral treatment to prevent the progression of osteoarthritis of a joint are disclosed. The methods involve treating the subchondral bone, while preserving, as much as possible, the joint's articular and cartilage surface. The methods could be performed before, during, or after an initial arthroscopic surgery to repair the joint. Associated devices and instruments for treatment of the subchondral bone are also disclosed.
SPINAL IMPLANT SYSTEM AND METHOD
A spinal implant includes a link having a first surface and a second surface connectable with a spinal construct. The spinal construct is attachable with one or more vertebral levels. A plurality of electrodes includes at least one electrode disposed with the first surface and at least one electrode disposed with the second surface such that the electrodes conduct an electric current to stimulate tissue growth adjacent the spinal construct. Systems, surgical instruments and methods are disclosed.
STACKED PIEZOELECTRIC COMPOSITES AND METHODS OF MAKING
The present application relates to stacked piezoelectric composites comprising piezoelectric structures. Suitably, the composites are useful as tissue-stimulating implants, including spinal fusion implants. The present application also relates to methods of making stacked piezoelectric composites.
Subchondral treatment to prevent the progression of osteoarthritis of the joint
Methods for the prevention, or delayed onset or progression of, bone marrow edema or bone marrow lesion, and subchondral treatment to prevail the progression of osteoarthritis of a joint are disclosed.
APPLICATION OF A POROUS MATERIAL
The present invention relates to a new application of a porous material. The porous material is composed of pore cavities and cavity walls surrounding the pore cavities, wherein the pore cavities of the porous material are three-dimensionally interconnected; the capillary force of the porous material is 5 Pa or more; and a contact angle between a surface of the cavity wall of the porous material and a liquid phase material circulating therein is less than 90. The porous material is applied as a microcirculation power source. The porous material is used in a circulation system as a microcirculation power source for providing material exchange. The porous material is used in a separation system as a microcirculation power source for providing material separation and movement. The porous material is used in a medical implant system as a microcirculation power source for providing tissue cell growth.
PROPHYLACTIC BACTERICIDAL MEDICAL DEVICE
A medical implant system is described for inhibiting infection associated with a joint prosthesis implant. An inventive system includes an implant body made of a biocompatible material which has a metal component disposed on an external surface of the implant body. A current is allowed to flow to the metal component, stimulating release of metal ions toxic to microbes, such as bacteria, protozoa, fungi, and viruses. One detailed system is completely surgically implantable in the patient such that no part of the system is external to the patient while the system is in use. In addition, externally controlled devices are provided which allow for modulation of implanted components.
