Personal protection and ventilation system
A personal protection and ventilation system is provided. The system includes a gown having front and rear panels, a hood, and visor; a fan; an air tube; and a helmet. The fan is positioned between the wearer and a body-facing surface of the rear panel. The front panel and at least a portion of the hood are formed from a first material including a first spunbond layer, a spunbond-meltblown-spunbond laminate, and a liquid impervious elastic film disposed therebetween. The first material has an air volumetric flow rate of less than about 1 standard cubic feet per minute (scfm). The rear panel is formed from a second material including a nonwoven laminate having an air volumetric flow rate of about 20 scfm to about 80 scfm. Therefore, the fan is able to intake a sufficient amount of air from the environment through the rear panel to provide cooling/ventilation to the hood.
Inflatable garment with lightweight air pump and method of use
An inflatable cold-weather upper-body garment. The garment includes first and second pluralities of interconnected gas flow chambers, each plurality enclosed by gas-impermeable material; a fluid-flow channel connecting the first and second pluralities of gas flow chambers; and a hand-operable air pump in fluid communication with one of the gas flow chambers.

VALVES AND METHODS OF OPERATING VALVES
A valve includes a substrate, a shape-memory wire, a conductive polymer, and a current source. The substrate defines an opening therethrough and includes at least one flap selectively extendable across the opening. The shape-memory wire is coupled to the at least one flap. The conductive polymer is coupled to the at least one flap. The current source is coupled to the shape-memory wire and the conductive polymer, such that electrical current from the current source selectively energizes the shape-memory wire and the conductive polymer thereby moving the at least one flap between a closed position and an open position.
Apparel thermo-regulatory system
Aspects herein are directed to an apparel thermo-regulatory system that actively heats or cools a wearer. The apparel thermo-regulatory system comprises an apparel item, a dimensionally stable frame comprising at least one aperture that is affixed to an outer-facing surface of the apparel item at a predetermined location, an absorbent material applied to an exposed face of the dimensionally stable frame, and at least one thermoelectric module that is releasably positioned within the aperture of the dimensionally stable frame.
Electric component mounting unit for air-conditioned garment, and air-conditioned garment
An electric component mounting unit for an air-conditioned garment, which is used in combination with a garment body having a fan opening and which is mounted on a body, includes a fan which takes air from outside into the garment body, a mounter which mounts the fan on the body, and a fan attacher which attaches the fan to the mounter. The fan includes a fan-side linker which links the fan with the fan opening.

Pump-Conditioned Garment and Apparatus Therefor
To pump-condition a garment that covers at least a portion of an individual, at least one fluid-circulating vent panel circulates a fluid adjacent the garment in an effort to condition the individual. A pump provides a motive force to circulate the circulating fluid through each vent panel. A circulation layer within the vent panel defines a plurality of channels therethrough. The channels allow the circulating fluid to pass both laterally through an opening in a peripheral edge of the vent panel and directly through a diffusing layer of the vent panel.
PPE with rotating assembly providing multiple face covers
A personal protective device (PPE) including a face cover assembly and a bodysuit configured to be worn by a human user. The device protects users against airborne aerosol particles containing viruses or other infectious agents while enabling improved flexibility relative to prior art designs. The device includes a helmet-like” rotating face cover assembly that fits over the user's head and attaches to a collar on the biohazard bodysuit. This rotating face cover assembly has a plurality of different mask sides, each with differing geometries or other properties. The device enables a user to rotate (either manually or by electric motor) the masks and select a given mask side that best meets that user's needs. The different mask sides can accommodate different facial geometries, eyewear types, and use cases, such as operation in more hostile environments. Features to improve user comfort, including alternate bodysuit designs, moisture reduction, and cooling are disclosed.
